Smugglers Gambit is a Fortnite island set in the Star Wars galaxy, not a separate Disney game that you download on its own. You can begin from home on a supported PC, console, or mobile device with Fortnite and an Epic Games account. A Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort visit is only needed for the attraction-linked mission and its eligible ride rewards; those park activities require valid admission and the appropriate Disney park app.
What is Smugglers Gambit?
Disney Games and Digital Entertainment developed Smugglers Gambit as an in-house Fortnite experience. The setting is the Star Wars galaxy around Mersa Veta Station on the planet Ord Ryla, with the story connected to the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attractions at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.
That connection works in two layers. The digital island is available to anyone who can access Fortnite, while a separate park activation lets eligible visitors take part in a mission associated with the physical attraction. The park activity can add rewards that carry over to Fortnite, but it is not a prerequisite for starting the island at home.

Where can you play it?
Home play on PC, console, or mobile
Fortnite is available as a free download on PC, consoles, and mobile devices. Because Smugglers Gambit is delivered as a Fortnite island, you install or open Fortnite rather than looking for a separate Smugglers Gambit application or boxed release. The official Fortnite Disney page presents the island with a Play Now entry point.
Disney park activation
The attraction-linked activation launched on August 16, 2026, at Disneyland Park in Anaheim and Disney’s Hollywood Studios near Orlando. Participation in that in-park experience is included with valid admission to the relevant theme park. Park admission is separate from the free Fortnite download, and no separate price for the activation is published.

The MyDisney connection is optional for ordinary island play. It becomes relevant when you want rewards tied to the attraction. Disney says guests can connect accounts before visiting or after riding, so you do not have to complete the account step at the park entrance.

Start Smugglers Gambit from home
- Install or open Fortnite. Use a supported PC, console, or mobile device. The Fortnite download itself is free.
- Sign in to Epic Games. Use an existing Epic Games account or create one if you do not already have one. The account is the identity Fortnite uses for your island progress and locker items.
- Open the Fortnite Disney page. Find Smugglers Gambit and select Play Now, the label used for the island’s launch entry.
- Launch the island. Fortnite loads the Smugglers Gambit experience inside the normal Fortnite environment. You do not need to visit Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort for this step.
- Invite friends if you want the co-op format. Disney describes the island around cooperative missions, so the experience is designed to be played with friends rather than requiring a solo-only campaign.
Once the island opens, your immediate objective is to follow the mission prompts and learn its Outer Rim systems. Standard island progression is separate from the attraction-specific reward process described below.
Link your Epic and MyDisney accounts
Linking is the route Disney provides for eligible rewards associated with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. You can do it before a park visit or after riding.
- Sign in to the Epic Games account you use for Fortnite.
- Open Account.
- Select Apps and Accounts.
- Find MyDisney Account and select Connect.
- Continue on the MyDisney website and complete its sign-in and authorization steps.
- Return to Fortnite and check your locker for eligible items.
Use the Epic account that you intend to play on. Linking a different Epic account can leave the reward attached to an account you do not use, so check the account identity before approving the connection.

If account linking is unavailable
Disney says guests who cannot link their accounts receive a Fortnite redemption code instead. Follow the delivery instructions Disney provides; the code may be supplied by email or through the in-game flow. Redeem it on the Fortnite account where you want the item to appear, then check the locker.
How the park mission works
The physical activation is built around the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction. At Disneyland Park in Anaheim, the relevant app is the Disneyland app. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios near Orlando, use the My Disney Experience app.
- Enter the participating Disney park with valid admission.
- Open the appropriate park app for your location.
- Go to the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run queue.
- Accept the special mission when it appears in the app while you are in the queue.
- Follow the mission and attraction instructions, collecting crates as directed.
- Link your Epic and MyDisney accounts before or after the visit, or use the redemption code option if Disney says linking is unavailable.
- Open Fortnite and inspect the locker for eligible rewards.
The attraction mission and the home island are connected, but they are not the same access path. Someone at home can play Smugglers Gambit without park admission; someone seeking the attraction-linked crates must complete the park-side requirements.

What you do inside the island
Cooperative Outer Rim missions
Disney positions Smugglers Gambit as a co-op adventure. Missions send players through the Outer Rim around Mersa Veta Station, with objectives that reward coordination and shared progress.
Collect crates for Hondo Ohnaka
Crate collection is a central activity. On the digital island, crates support mission objectives and progression. During the attraction-linked activation, crates collected through the park experience can qualify for rewards that carry over into Fortnite.

Fight pirates and Imperial remnants
Combat encounters include pirates and Imperial remnants. The threats are part of the mission loop rather than a separate mode that requires another download.

Deal with dangerous wildlife
The Outer Rim setting also includes hostile wildlife. Expect missions to combine traversal, combat, and environmental danger instead of focusing only on player-versus-player battles.
Unlock gear and build reputation
Progression includes gear unlocks and reputation-building across the Outer Rim. These systems give repeated missions a purpose beyond completing a single objective, while the attraction-linked rewards provide an additional path for eligible park visitors.

Choose the home route if your priority is simply playing the new Disney experience. Choose the park route only when you are visiting one of the participating locations and want to add the attraction mission and its associated reward opportunity.

There are two possible delivery paths. With a successful Epic–MyDisney connection, eligible items appear in the Fortnite locker after the relevant steps are completed. If Disney cannot link the accounts for your visit, the replacement path is a Fortnite redemption code.
Crate collection during the attraction is the activity Disney identifies as capable of unlocking rewards that carry over into Fortnite. The exact eligibility of an item depends on the park activation and Disney’s account or redemption instructions; ordinary island progression should not be assumed to grant every ride-linked item.
Troubleshooting common first-session problems
You cannot find the island
- Confirm that Fortnite is installed and that you are signed in to the intended Epic Games account.
- Return to the official Fortnite Disney page and use its Play Now entry rather than looking for a separate Smugglers Gambit download.
- Check that your device is a supported PC, console, or mobile device.
The MyDisney connection does not complete
- Start again from Account → Apps and Accounts in Epic’s account settings.
- Select Connect beside MyDisney Account and finish the authorization on the MyDisney website.
- If Disney identifies your account as unable to link, use the Fortnite redemption code it supplies instead.
A linked reward is not visible
- Open the Fortnite locker after the account connection or code redemption has finished.
- Verify that Fortnite is using the same Epic account you connected to MyDisney.
- If you received a code, follow Disney’s delivery instructions and redeem it on the intended Fortnite account.
The park mission is missing
- Make sure you are at the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run queue in the participating park.
- Open the correct app: Disneyland for Anaheim or My Disney Experience for Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
- Confirm that your park entry is valid and wait for the special mission to appear while you are in the queue.
What is and is not required
- Required for the island: Fortnite on a supported device and an Epic Games account.
- Not required for the island: a Disney park visit, park admission, or a MyDisney account link.
- Required for the attraction mission: a visit to Disneyland Park in Anaheim or Disney’s Hollywood Studios near Orlando, valid admission, and the relevant Disney park app.
- Needed for eligible linked rewards: an Epic–MyDisney connection, unless Disney provides a redemption code because linking is unavailable.
A practical first-session checklist
- Install Fortnite before you plan to play.
- Confirm which Epic Games account you will use.
- Launch Smugglers Gambit from the Fortnite Disney page with Play Now.
- Play a mission with friends to experience the island’s cooperative design.
- If you are visiting a participating park, install or open the correct park app before entering the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run queue.
- Accept the special queue mission, collect crates as instructed, and complete the Epic–MyDisney connection before or after riding.
- Check the Fortnite locker, or redeem Disney’s code if account linking was unavailable.
Smugglers Gambit is therefore easiest to approach as two connected experiences: a free Fortnite island that anyone with Fortnite and an Epic account can start, plus an optional park mission that adds location-based objectives and eligible ride-linked rewards.
