What kind of game is Belmont’s Curse?
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is a 2D action-exploration game set in Paris in 1499. Try the demo before deciding how to play
Konami announced that the demo launched October 1, 2026, for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The official game site lists October 15, 2026, as the full release date. The demo is a practical way to learn the rhythm of movement and combat before beginning a full playthrough.
Konami says demo progress can transfer to the full game only if you use the same platform and account, keep the demo save, and update the full game. Some features or content may be restricted in the demo. If carrying progress forward matters to you, use the same account on the same platform and do not delete the demo save before launching the updated full version. The announcement does not establish cross-platform save transfer.
Those conditions make it useful to decide where you intend to play before starting the demo if you want its progress to carry over. A PS5 demo save, for example, should not be assumed to transfer to a different platform. Likewise, the announced transfer conditions are not a general promise about cloud saves, other accounts, or save behavior beyond the demo-to-full-game transition. Keep the demo installed and its save intact until you have confirmed the updated full game recognizes it.

Try the whip in different situations rather than treating it as a simple ranged strike. Konami describes it as useful for swinging across spaces, reaching locations that are otherwise inaccessible, exposing hidden rooms, and attacking from unusual angles. A grapple point may offer a way forward, a better position for an attack, or access to a side route.
- When a gap or ledge interrupts a route, look for a grapple opportunity before assuming the path is closed.
- Try approaching enemies or hazards from a different angle; the whip’s reach and positioning options may help.
- When a room seems to have no obvious exit, inspect the surroundings for routes the whip could help reveal or reach.
Those are general ways to experiment with the tool, not a claim that every gap or suspicious surface can be solved with the whip. Konami’s description supports the whip’s traversal and discovery roles, but does not publish a complete list of grapple points or hidden-room locations.
It can help to pause briefly when you enter a new space instead of immediately pushing forward. Look for a visible route, then consider whether the whip might help you cross or approach it. If there is an enemy nearby, weigh whether you want to engage first or use a different position. The purpose is to test the whip’s two roles—movement and attack—without assuming that a single approach works everywhere.
Choose an approachable weapon while learning
Konami’s overview describes the sword as easy to use and offering solid attack power. That makes it a reasonable starting choice if you want a straightforward weapon while learning movement, enemy timing, and the layout of a room. It is an accessible option, not a confirmed best weapon for every enemy or play style.
The official game site describes seven weapon categories, but the available official descriptions do not establish a complete roster or a ranking. Try weapons as you find them and judge them by whether their reach, speed, or feel helps you handle the encounters in front of you. Avoid committing to an “optimal” build based on a partial list: Konami has not published one in the descriptions summarized here.
When you try another weapon, give it a chance in more than one situation before deciding whether it suits you. A weapon’s listed category or description cannot by itself tell you how it will feel in a particular encounter. Compare it with the sword in terms of how easily you can land attacks and maintain a safe position, but treat that as your own preference rather than a tier list. No full weapon roster or weapon-by-weapon matchup guide is established by Konami’s descriptions.

Watch enemies before committing to an attack
A July 2026 PS5 hands-on report by PlayStation Blog contributor Corey Brotherson says hurried mistakes were punished in the session. The report emphasizes learning enemy patterns, using dodge invincibility frames, and mastering attacks rather than rushing forward. It describes slow zombies as easy to handle individually but troublesome in groups.
Use that observation as a reason to assess a room before charging into it. If enemies are grouped, attacking the nearest one may leave Rose exposed to another. Watch how an enemy approaches, learn when it can hit, and look for a moment to attack or evade. The report does not provide a complete enemy guide, and its observations come from one PS5 hands-on session rather than testing across all platforms or the final release.
Dodging is especially worth learning early because the report says its invincibility frames can help Rose avoid damage. That is not a reason to dodge continuously: time the move around an incoming attack, then return to attacking or repositioning. The report also describes a slide and backward flip in its PS5 session; these can be useful movement choices, but the precise controls are platform- and settings-dependent.
The group-versus-individual zombie example is a reminder to pay attention to the room as a whole, not just the enemy in front of Rose. If several threats are present, avoid assuming that a slow opponent is harmless simply because it is manageable alone. Use the opening you see, and be ready to evade or change position if another enemy is close. The hands-on account does not specify a universal order for defeating enemies, so there is no source-backed priority list to follow.
Spend mana with both spells and healing in mind
In the same July PS5 session, the report observed mana being restored by defeating enemies and spent on spells and healing. That means using an ability has an opportunity cost in that observed version: mana used for one purpose may not be available for another immediately. Consider the situation before spending it, especially if you may need healing soon.
The report does not establish that every platform, final-game setting, or later update uses exactly the same resource behavior. Treat this as a useful starting principle from the hands-on session, not a guaranteed universal rule. Pay attention to the resource display in your own game and learn what actions consume or restore mana there.

PlayStation Blog’s July 17, 2026 hands-on report recorded the following bindings during its PS5 session. They are not a universal control chart: the report does not verify the corresponding buttons on Switch, Xbox, Steam input, remapped layouts, or later patches.

Even on PS5, treat the list as a record of one hands-on setup, not a substitute for the controls displayed in your copy. The report does not confirm a full map of every action or whether the listed bindings remain unchanged in the release version. If an input does not produce the described action, check the current in-game controls and your own remapping before concluding the move is unavailable.

Search carefully for secrets and useful side routes
Konami describes secrets, puzzles, traps, hidden rooms, and breakable walls as part of the exploration. PlayStation Blog’s overview adds that some breakable walls can conceal meat that restores health. When a surface looks suspicious or a side route is available, checking it may reward you with a discovery or a useful resource.
- Check side passages rather than following only the most obvious route through a room.
- Pay attention to walls and surfaces that look different from their surroundings; some breakable walls can hide health-restoring meat.
- Approach traps carefully. Exploration rewards curiosity, but the official description also identifies traps as a hazard.
- If a route is visibly out of reach, remember it and revisit after acquiring new abilities rather than assuming you missed a secret.
There is no confirmed complete map or list of secret locations in the available descriptions, so these tips are about how to explore, not exact directions to hidden items.
Exploration should be deliberate rather than indiscriminate. The sources support looking for secrets and breakable walls, but they do not say that every wall can be destroyed or that every detour contains a reward. Check the surroundings when you have a reason to suspect a route or unusual surface, and keep in mind that traps are explicitly part of the environment. If exploration puts Rose in danger, reassess rather than treating every suspicious-looking object as a safe interaction.
Revisit blocked routes as Rose gains abilities
Brotherson’s hands-on report describes a large map with destructible secret walls and visible areas that Rose could not reach until she obtained a relevant skill. It also says bosses became Arcana that unlocked spells, skills, and special actions, and mentions tasks that could improve Arcana. That supports a practical exploration habit: note conspicuous barriers or unreachable areas, then return when a new skill or action changes what Rose can do.

When Rose gains an ability, think back to routes that were clearly inaccessible before and check whether the new skill changes the situation. This is more reliable than guessing which ability a particular obstacle requires. The report supports returning to blocked areas and watching for new tools, but it does not identify every gate, skill, boss reward, or task. Let the game’s own prompts and the ability description guide your next attempt.
Build a loadout around your own approach
Konami’s official game site describes seven weapon categories and Relics with offensive and defensive effects. Brotherson’s report says Rose could equip up to three relics during the PS5 hands-on session. That offers room to shape a loadout, but the available descriptions do not establish a best combination or prove that the session’s limit applies to every final version.
Try newly discovered equipment and keep the weapons and relic effects that suit your approach. If you prefer a direct fight, an offensive effect may appeal; if you value staying safe, a defensive one may be more useful. These are ways to think about the categories, not recommendations for specific relics whose names or effects are not established here. Reassess your choices as you learn what the game rewards in your encounters.
