ARC Raiders is an extraction adventure built around one decisive question: when do you leave? You go topside to collect resources, complete objectives and improve your longer-term progression while ARC machines—and sometimes other Raiders—make every route dangerous. Anything still in your pack matters only if you can extract with it. Start with a modest objective, spend only what the raid justifies, and leave when securing your haul is worth more than taking another fight.

The ARC Raiders loop in one sentence

The official overview describes ARC Raiders as “a multiplayer extraction adventure, set in a lethal future earth, ravaged by a mysterious mechanized threat known as ARC.” In practice, a raid has four linked decisions:

  1. Prepare: choose an entry loadout that fits the objective and the risk you are willing to lose.
  2. Go topside: search locations, gather materials, pursue Trials or other objectives, and read the map for threats and routes.
  3. Manage exposure: decide which fights are worth the ammunition, health, noise and time they consume. ARC machines are not the only danger; hostile Raiders may also contest valuable areas.
  4. Extract: reach an available exit and survive the departure. Your raid progress and carried loot can depend on getting out alive.

That last step is the hinge. A full backpack is not a completed run. Treat every item as unsecured until the extraction screen confirms that you escaped.

How to plan your first raids

Choose one achievable objective

For an early raid, pick a single goal that gives the trip a clear endpoint: collect a particular resource, investigate a named area, finish a Trial task, or bring back materials for a project. A modest objective is useful because it tells you when the raid has already paid for itself. Trying to clear every building and answer every sound usually converts a successful haul into an unnecessary final fight.

Set a stop rule before you deploy

Decide what would make you leave: the objective is complete, your pack contains a rare item, healing or ammunition is low, or the remaining extraction routes are becoming inconvenient. This is not a mandatory game rule; it is a way to prevent “one more room” from turning a profitable raid into a total loss.

Keep the map and session state in view

Extraction opportunities are not static. Standard extraction points are available without a direct fee, but their availability dwindles as a session proceeds and using them can draw attention. Check the map before committing to a distant detour, then check it again after a fight, objective completion or major discovery. The route that looked safe at the start may be a poor exit by the time your pack is valuable.

Do not make every encounter mandatory

ARC machines can consume resources even when you win, while another Raider may use the sound of that fight to find you. Break line of sight, rotate around a threat or abandon a building if the reward does not justify the exposure. A successful extraction with a smaller haul teaches more than a spectacular death with a full inventory.

Extraction choices: standard points versus Raider Hatches

There are two extraction families described by the developer. Neither is universally best. The right choice depends on whether you value a free exit, lower attention, speed, a key you already possess and the number of people leaving with you.

Extraction option Direct resource cost Noise and attention Speed Availability Squad considerations
Standard extraction point No direct cost Can attract attention Not specified as quicker Availability dwindles as the session proceeds Use when the route and timing are acceptable; no Hatch Key is required
Raider Hatch Requires a Hatch Key Described by the developer as quieter Described as quick Only useful where a hatch is available and your key works for it The developer describes a three-for-one deal when extracting with a squad

What a standard extraction point is good for

Standard points are the default option when you have no Hatch Key or do not want to spend one. Their lack of a direct cost makes them practical for low-commitment runs. The trade-off is exposure: the extraction can announce your presence or create a predictable place for another Raider to watch. Because available points diminish during a session, do not assume that waiting indefinitely preserves every route.

What a Raider Hatch changes

A hatch requires a Hatch Key, and the developer says keys may be bought, crafted or found. Hatches are described as quieter and quicker, which can reduce the time you spend exposed at the exit. That advantage is not a guarantee of safety: you paid for access with a key, a hatch may not be positioned near your current objective, and other players can still create danger.

For a squad, the developer describes hatch use as a three-for-one deal. Read that as a specific squad extraction rule, not as proof that every hatch is always the most efficient choice. Confirm the current requirement and party behavior in the map condition before relying on it.

When to use each option

  • Use a standard point when the haul is modest, you have no key, the route is open and the remaining session time makes a paid shortcut unnecessary.
  • Use a hatch when the key cost is acceptable, the quicker or quieter departure materially lowers your exposure, and the hatch is reachable without crossing a more dangerous area.
  • Change your plan if a route closes, a squadmate is carrying a different requirement, or the value of your pack no longer justifies the travel time.

How to choose gear without chasing a “best” loadout

There is no sourced universal beginner weapon or equipment ranking. Build around the job of the raid and the amount you can afford to lose. A low-risk material run, a Trial objective in a contested zone and a late-session recovery attempt should not all use the same commitment.

Match commitment to the objective

  • Scavenging run: carry enough capability to handle likely ARC threats and escape, but avoid spending your most difficult-to-replace items on a route whose reward is ordinary.
  • Objective run: prioritize what the objective requires, then add only the supplies needed to reach and leave the area. The objective is the reason for the risk; extra fights are optional.
  • High-value or contested run: commit more only when the potential reward or progression payoff warrants the loss. Plan an extraction route before entering the hottest area.
  • Recovery or learning run: use an inexpensive setup to practice movement, map reading and extraction timing. The point is information, not a full inventory.

Use the current map condition as a rule, not a suggestion

Entry rules and available equipment can change with map conditions and updates. Live Update 1.33.0, released June 16, 2026, temporarily disabled free loadouts for Night Raid and Close Scrutiny for three weeks as a test. The developer explained that those scenarios offered better loot and wanted players to commit to an appropriate risk-and-reward level. That was explicitly time-limited and is not evidence that the restriction still applies on October 13, 2026.

The lesson is durable even when the particular rule is not: inspect the current condition before queueing. A free option, required item, objective modifier or loot profile can be different from the ordinary map, so a loadout that was sensible yesterday may be illegal or economically poor today.

Think in terms of replacement cost

Ask three questions before deploying: What do I lose if the raid fails? Can I replace it from my current storage and progression? Does this objective pay enough to justify that loss? This framework is more reliable than copying a streamer’s setup, because it accounts for your inventory, map condition, party size and confidence.

Understanding progression beyond your backpack

Loot is only one form of progress. ARC Raiders layers raid objectives with systems that can reward safe extraction, completed tasks and longer-term upgrades. Their exact contents and reward lists are update-sensitive, so read the current in-game descriptions rather than relying on an old checklist.

Trials

Trials are tied to raids and explicitly make progress conditional on safe extraction. If a Trial asks you to perform an action topside, completing the action is not enough if you fail to leave alive. Plan the objective and the exit together, and avoid treating the final minutes as a free opportunity for an unrelated fight.

Trials Season 6 began on October 8, 2026, and is scheduled through November 16, 2026. That schedule is current for the cited date and may change; check the live game for the active season, deadlines and reward details.

Feats and Reward Passes

Reward Passes use Feats to unlock rewards. Feats therefore give you a reason to vary your activities instead of repeating one loot route. Check which Feats are active, whether they require extraction, and how much time remains on the relevant pass before you commit expensive gear.

Projects and upgrade systems

Projects and other upgrade systems turn recovered materials into longer-term account or equipment progress. Before a raid, look at the next project requirement and choose an objective that can advance it without forcing an oversized loadout. This creates a useful loop: the project tells you what to seek, the map determines how much risk the trip involves, and extraction converts the haul into progress.

Frozen Trail: current additions to learn first

Frozen Trail launched on October 8, 2026. If you are starting now, treat these as current update material rather than permanent descriptions of every future season.

Pendola Pass and the Outpost

Pendola Pass is available with Frozen Trail. The update also adds the Outpost, where the October 8 announcement recommends establishing a base to amplify weapons to a fifth tier and unlock special abilities. That makes Outpost-related requirements a practical early planning question: inspect what the system asks for, then let those materials influence which raids you accept.

New skills and equipment

Frozen Trail adds new skills, Tethers and the Grapple Hook. They expand the movement and utility choices available to a raid, but they do not remove the extraction decision. A new traversal tool can help you reach an objective or escape a route; it can also tempt you into carrying more value deeper into a dangerous area. Use each addition to solve a defined problem rather than assuming every new item belongs in every loadout.

Weekly objectives and threats

An October 12 announcement describes weekly objectives and challenges involving Pendola Pass and its new threats. Weekly content is especially volatile: read the current objective text, expiration time and extraction requirement in-game before spending scarce resources on it.

What the hatch statistic does—and does not—tell you

The ARC Raiders development team reported that 40% of high-level players in Technical Test 2 used hatches, a rate the team considered more frequent than intended. This is 2025 test-era design data, not a measurement of current live-player behavior. It is useful context for why hatch access and pricing may be tuned, but it should not be used as a recommendation that you always need a Hatch Key or that hatches are the dominant strategy.

A practical first-raid checklist

  1. Read the map condition. Note modifiers, special extraction rules, objective requirements and whether a free loadout is actually available.
  2. Choose one primary objective. Select a Trial, project material, Feat or straightforward resource target you can finish without crossing the entire map.
  3. Set your loss limit. Remove gear you cannot replace comfortably unless the expected reward justifies it.
  4. Check extraction routes. Identify a standard point and, if you have one, a compatible Hatch Key option. Do not assume either route will remain available for the whole session.
  5. Enter, gather and listen. Avoid unnecessary fights, track ammunition and healing, and notice when ARC activity or Raider movement makes your original route unattractive.
  6. Recalculate after the objective. Once the goal is complete, compare the value of your pack with the value of continuing. The answer often changes as extraction availability dwindles.
  7. Leave deliberately. Start the extraction with enough time and resources to survive the approach, the departure and any detour caused by a contested route.
  8. Review the result. Use what you learned—where you were exposed, what you lacked and which requirement surprised you—to adjust the next loadout.

Common beginner mistakes and the fix for each

“I completed the objective, so I am done.”

Problem: raid-bound progress can depend on safe extraction. Fix: treat the objective and the exit as one task and reserve time for the return.

“The loudest fight must contain the best reward.”

Problem: combat can spend resources and advertise your position to Raiders. Fix: compare the likely reward with the cost of ammunition, healing, time and attention before engaging.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“A hatch is always safer.”

Problem: quieter and quicker does not mean guaranteed safety, and a key has value. Fix: use a hatch when its access cost and position improve this particular escape.

“A free loadout rule is permanent.”

Problem: map conditions and event rules change. Fix: verify the queue screen every time, especially for special scenarios such as Night Raid or Close Scrutiny.

“More expensive gear automatically means better progress.”

Problem: expensive equipment can increase the loss from a failed learning run without advancing the objective. Fix: spend according to replacement cost and expected payoff.

“Old season guides describe the current game.”

Problem: Trials, weekly challenges, map threats and rewards can rotate. Fix: use older explanations for concepts only, then confirm the live objective, date and requirements in-game.

What to check before every queue

  • The active map condition and any special entry or free-loadout rule.
  • Your primary objective and the exact item, location or action it requires.
  • Current extraction availability, including whether a standard point is likely to remain open long enough.
  • Whether you have a usable Hatch Key and whether spending it makes sense for this route and squad.
  • How much gear, healing and ammunition you can replace after a loss.
  • Active Trials Season, Feats, Reward Pass, project and weekly deadlines.
  • Any Frozen Trail content currently affecting Pendola Pass, the Outpost, new threats or traversal equipment.

Those checks keep the central ARC Raiders decision visible: go topside for a purpose, accept only the risk that purpose supports, and convert the run into progress by getting out.
