You can send projector sound to a Bluetooth speaker only if the projector supports Bluetooth audio output for the source you are using. Put the speaker in pairing mode, select it in the projector’s Bluetooth or audio-output settings, and choose it as the sound output if the projector has a separate setting. If the projector cannot route your source over Bluetooth, use a compatible audio-out port with a wired speaker or a Bluetooth transmitter.
Check Bluetooth support for your source first
A Bluetooth menu does not necessarily mean the projector can send sound to a speaker. The feature may be limited to pairing accessories, or it may work only with audio from the projector’s built-in apps or media player—not from an HDMI-connected streaming device. Check the manual for your exact projector model and confirm both that it supports Bluetooth audio output and that it supports the input you plan to use.
Source routing varies by model. Philips says the PicoPix Max can send audio from internal apps or its internal media player to a Bluetooth device, but not audio from HDMI or USB-C. By contrast, Epson documents Bluetooth output for HDMI, LAN, or SD sources on selected models, subject to the A2DP and SCMS-T compatibility conditions in its guides. These examples are not universal rules: check the PicoPix Max Bluetooth instructions or the guide for your own projector.

Pair the speaker and select it as the output
- Put the speaker in pairing mode. Follow its manual; simply turning it on may not make it discoverable.
- Open the projector’s Bluetooth settings. Look in Settings for Bluetooth, Remotes & Accessories, or a similarly named device menu. Menu names and paths vary by model.
- Scan for devices and select the speaker. Accept a pairing prompt if one appears.
- Set the sound output to the speaker. If the projector has a Sound Out or audio-output menu, select the paired Bluetooth device or wireless speaker. Pairing by itself may not switch audio away from the projector’s internal speaker.
- Check volume and mute. Raise the volume on both devices and make sure neither is muted. If there is still no sound, disconnect and pair again, then check whether your source is supported.
For one model-specific example, Philips lists this path for the PicoPix Max: Settings → Projector Settings → Bluetooth. Enable Bluetooth, then select the speaker in the device list. Philips says the projector reconnects to the last connected speaker when that speaker is turned on. LG’s newer webOS instructions use Settings → All Settings → Sound → Sound Out → Use Wireless Speaker → Bluetooth Device; older webOS versions use a different path. Follow the manual for your exact model rather than assuming either path applies to every projector.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose a connection that matches your ports
If Bluetooth output is unavailable for your source, inspect the projector’s audio outputs and the speaker’s inputs. The best fallback depends on which ports both devices support.
| Connection | When it fits | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Projector Bluetooth output | The projector supports audio output over Bluetooth and routes your source to it. | Pairing may not select the output automatically. Bluetooth can introduce delay, and supported sources and devices vary by model. |
| 3.5 mm audio output to a speaker’s analog input | The projector and speaker have compatible analog ports. | Use a stereo audio cable and select the appropriate output if needed. Philips describes connecting a projector’s speaker/headphone output to an external speaker’s analog input. |
| 3.5 mm output to a Bluetooth transmitter | The projector has analog audio out, but no usable Bluetooth audio output for your source. | Confirm that the transmitter has the right input, can pair with your speaker, and has a suitable power source. Check its latency characteristics; no universal delay guarantee is established. |
| Optical/S/PDIF | The projector has an optical audio output and the speaker or soundbar has a compatible input. | Confirm that both devices support the connection and check the projector’s audio-output settings. ViewSonic documents S/PDIF on equipped models. |
| HDMI ARC | The projector and speaker or soundbar support compatible ARC connections. | Use the HDMI port that supports ARC and check the audio settings. LG identifies HDMI ARC as a wired option. |
These ports are not present on every projector. ViewSonic describes 3.5 mm audio out and S/PDIF on equipped models, while Philips documents an analog 3.5 mm connection. Check your device manuals before choosing a cable or transmitter. For a Bluetooth transmitter, verify input, power, pairing, and latency details before buying; for a wired setup, make sure the speaker’s input matches the projector’s output.

Fix common connection problems
The speaker is paired, but there is no sound
- Choose the Bluetooth speaker under Sound Out or audio output if that control is available.
- Check mute and volume on both the projector and speaker.
- Reconnect the speaker and confirm that Bluetooth audio is supported for the source you are watching.
The speaker does not appear in the device list
- Put it into pairing or discovery mode again and move it close to the projector while pairing.
- Check whether it is already connected to a phone or another host, then disconnect it there and retry.
- Follow the speaker’s pairing instructions; the procedure differs between devices.
The audio drops or becomes unstable
LG lists distance, obstacles, nearby radio interference, a speaker paired elsewhere, low battery, and a temporary software issue as possible causes. LG’s support advice flags separation beyond 32 ft (10 m) as one potential factor; that is troubleshooting guidance, not a universal Bluetooth range guarantee. Move the devices closer, reduce obstacles or nearby interference, charge the speaker, and disconnect competing connections. See LG’s projector Bluetooth troubleshooting guidance.

Bluetooth can delay audio, but the manufacturer guidance cited here gives no universal delay figure. If the mismatch is distracting, try a wired connection supported by both devices. Do not assume a particular codec or transmitter will eliminate the delay unless its documentation confirms compatibility with your specific equipment.

An HDMI streaming device produces no Bluetooth sound
Check whether your projector supports Bluetooth output from HDMI, rather than relying on the presence of a pairing menu. The PicoPix Max limitation and Epson’s support for selected HDMI-capable models show why the answer depends on the model. If HDMI audio is not routed over Bluetooth, use a compatible projector audio output and wired connection or transmitter instead.
