If candy buckets appear to have stopped spawning in Disney Dreamlight Valley, first collect every visible Plaza bowl. Gameloft limits the Valley to five bowls of each color at once, so a full set of uncollected bowls prevents another bowl of that color from appearing. After clearing the Plaza, use the event’s villager-house trick-or-treat interactions for an additional daily source of candy.

The 2026 Halloween event runs from October 14 through October 31. Spawning follows a fixed schedule rather than continuing constantly, and new bowls stop appearing after the event ends. Candy you already collected remains in your inventory.

Why candy bowls stop appearing

The event uses three rules that explain most apparent spawning problems:

Rule What it means in practice Source
Daily Plaza schedule From October 14 through October 30, two bowls of each color appear every 24 hours. Gameloft, 2026
Halloween-day schedule On October 31, two bowls of each color appear every hour. Gameloft, 2026
Simultaneous cap No more than five bowls of one color can be present in the Valley at the same time. Gameloft, 2026
Per-bowl reward Collecting a bowl gives two candies matching that bowl’s color. Gameloft, 2026

The cap is the most important detail. If five red bowls are already sitting somewhere in the Valley, the game will not add a sixth red bowl. It does not matter whether you noticed those bowls immediately; uncollected bowls still count. A color can therefore look “broken” when its allowed bowls are simply waiting to be picked up.

#1 Best Overall

Players often call these objects buckets, but the official event announcement calls them bowls. Searching the Plaza for the event bowls is the same troubleshooting step regardless of which name you use.

Fix the problem in the correct order

  1. Search the entire Plaza. Walk around the Plaza rather than checking only the area near your house, well, or fast-travel point. Look behind furniture, buildings, trees, stalls, and other decorations. The goal is to find every bowl that has already spawned.
  2. Pick up every visible color. Collect the bowls instead of leaving them on the ground for later. Because the limit is tracked separately by color, clearing only one color will not release the others.
  3. Leave the Plaza and return after the next scheduled window. Before October 31, the official cadence is once every 24 hours. A second visit a few minutes later is not a new spawn window; wait for the next daily reset used by the event.
  4. Check the calendar. The daily schedule applies through October 30. October 31 uses an hourly schedule, while November 1 is outside the announced event window and does not create new event bowls.
  5. Use house interactions while waiting. The villager activity described below provides a separate way to obtain candy during the event, so you do not have to rely only on Plaza spawns.

This sequence distinguishes a blocked spawn from a missed schedule. If the Plaza is empty and the applicable spawn window has passed, then the issue needs a different explanation than the five-bowl cap.

How much candy the Plaza can provide

The official per-bowl reward lets you calculate the value of a successful collection run. Before October 31, the announced schedule produces four candies of each color per daily spawn cycle when both bowls of that color are collected. The five-bowl cap means that, at any one moment, the Valley can hold up to ten uncollected candies of a particular color in its bowls.

On October 31, the stated hourly cadence creates many more opportunities. If a player collects both bowls of a color during 24 consecutive hourly windows, the arithmetic would be 24 windows × two bowls × two candies, or 96 candies of that color. That is a theoretical calculation based on the published cadence, not a promise that every player will receive 24 successful windows: missed collections, reset timing, maintenance, or the event’s actual server schedule can reduce the result.

Collecting promptly is therefore useful for two reasons. It gives you the candy immediately, and it prevents the simultaneous cap from blocking the next appearance of that color.

Get candy from villager-house trick-or-treating

During the 2026 event, look for a lit jack-o’-lantern outside participating villager homes. Interacting with the lantern starts the special trick-or-treat interaction. The Dreamlight Valley Wiki records six participating houses:

  • Mickey Mouse
  • WALL-E
  • Daisy
  • Stitch
  • Mike Wazowski
  • Jack Skellington

The same wiki records a daily activity yield of five candies of each color. It is a useful supplement to Plaza collection because it is tied to the house interactions rather than the number of bowls currently visible in the Plaza. The wiki is community-maintained, so treat its yield documentation as separate from Gameloft’s official bowl schedule and cap.

House-interaction checklist

  1. Visit each of the six listed homes during the active event.
  2. Look outside for the lit jack-o’-lantern marker.
  3. Interact with the marker, not merely with the house door or a nearby villager.
  4. Confirm that the trick-or-treat interaction completes before moving to the next home.
  5. Return on the next daily cycle if the marker is no longer active.

If a lantern is not present, do not assume the Plaza system has failed. The house activity has its own availability and daily behavior, and the documented source does not state that it refreshes at the same moment as a Plaza bowl.

Event dates determine whether new bowls are possible

The 2026 event is announced for October 14 through October 31. The daily Plaza schedule applies from October 14 to October 30, and the accelerated hourly schedule applies on October 31. Once the event finishes, new Halloween bowls stop spawning until a future Halloween event.

Gameloft’s earlier Halloween announcement also says that existing Halloween candies and bowls do not disappear after Halloween. That distinction matters:

  • New spawns: seasonal and stop after the announced event period.
  • Already collected candy: remains available in your inventory.
  • Existing bowls: are not stated to vanish at the end of Halloween.

If you are checking after October 31, waiting for another daily or hourly spawn will not restore the system. Save any candy you already have, and wait for a future event if you need more seasonal drops.

Claim the Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl recipe mail

Gameloft says players who do not already own the Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl recipe receive it through in-game mail at the start of the event. Open the mailbox and claim that message if it is missing from your recipe collection.

The announcement confirms delivery of the recipe, but it does not say that crafting a bowl generates collectible event candy or replaces Plaza spawns. Crafting the decorative item should therefore be treated as a separate recipe-recovery task, not as a guaranteed workaround for a blocked or finished spawn schedule.

Troubleshooting by symptom

One color is missing, but other colors appear

Search for five uncollected bowls of the missing color first. Because the cap is color-specific, a full set of one color can block only that color while other colors continue to appear normally. Collect the visible bowls, then wait for the next applicable spawn window.

No colors appear in the Plaza

Check whether you are still inside the October 14–31 event window and whether the daily or hourly window has actually elapsed. If the event is active, perform a complete Plaza sweep before assuming a technical fault. A bowl hidden behind decoration still counts toward the cap.

You collected bowls, but the count did not increase as expected

Verify the color of each bowl and the candy category in your inventory. The official rule is two candies matching the bowl’s color, not a random candy type. If the inventory still appears unchanged after a confirmed pickup, record the platform, time, bowl color, and event date before reporting the problem through the game’s normal support route.

The October 31 hourly pattern is not visible

Make sure the game has reached October 31 in the event’s relevant time and that you are not relying on the pre-October 31 daily expectation. The published hourly wording describes the cadence, but it does not specify a player-controlled reset button. Continue collecting existing bowls so the cap cannot block future appearances.

The event has ended

There is no documented post-event method for forcing new Halloween bowls. Existing candy remains usable, but new seasonal spawns stop after the announced period. A future Halloween event would be required for another official spawn cycle.

Clock changes, reinstalling, and other commonly suggested fixes

No authoritative source establishes that changing the device clock, restarting the game, clearing a cache, or reinstalling reliably restores missing bowls. These actions may be suggested by players, but they are unverified troubleshooting rather than guaranteed fixes.

Use the documented checks first:

  • Clear every visible bowl in the Plaza.
  • Confirm the five-per-color simultaneous cap is not being reached.
  • Wait for the correct 24-hour or hourly event window.
  • Confirm that the date is still within the October 14–31 event period.
  • Use the six house lantern interactions for their separate daily candy activity.

If those conditions are satisfied and a spawn still fails, avoid repeatedly changing the device clock. Time manipulation can create unrelated timing problems, and there is no published guarantee that it repairs this event.

A practical candy-collection plan

October 14–30

Make one deliberate Plaza route per daily cycle. Pick up every bowl you see, then visit the six lantern-marked homes. This combines the official bowl reward with the community-documented house activity and reduces the chance that an uncollected bowl will block the next daily appearance.

October 31

Prioritize frequent short collection runs if you want to take advantage of the hourly cadence. A quick Plaza sweep at the start of each available play session is more useful than leaving bowls on the ground. Complete the house interactions as well, subject to their own daily availability.

After October 31

Stop expecting new bowls. Organize the candy already in your inventory for whatever recipes, duties, or crafting tasks you still intend to complete, and keep the recipe mail if you have not claimed it yet.

Common mistakes that look like a spawn bug

  • Checking only one location: a bowl can be elsewhere in the Plaza, including behind decorations.
  • Leaving bowls uncollected: visible bowls still consume the per-color allowance.
  • Expecting a continuous timer: before October 31, the event uses a 24-hour cadence, not constant replenishment.
  • Assuming every date has the same rate: October 31 is the only date announced with hourly appearances.
  • Confusing the recipe with a candy generator: the recipe mail is confirmed, but crafted bowls are not documented as replacement spawners.
  • Continuing to wait after the event: post-event persistence applies to existing candy and bowls, not to new seasonal spawns.

Bottom line for missing candy

Collect the Plaza bowls before diagnosing a failure: five bowls of one color can block additional bowls of that color. Then wait for the correct event schedule, use the six documented villager-house lantern interactions, and claim the Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl recipe mail if it is absent. The 2026 event’s new spawns end after October 31, but candy already collected remains in your Valley account.
