The fastest supported way to build a Bramblin Candy supply during the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek is to create as many Bramblin encounters as possible, then catch every Bramblin you find. During the event, Bramblin can appear through regular Incense, GO Pass tasks, and event-themed Field Research encounters. Daily Adventure Incense is not included in the event’s listed Bramblin Incense pool.
Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek runs from October 13 at 10:00 a.m. through October 19, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. local time. GO Pass rewards remain claimable only until October 21 at 8:00 p.m. local time, so do not leave unlocked rewards unclaimed.
What actually gives you Bramblin Candy
Finding Bramblin and receiving Bramblin Candy are related but separate steps. Incense, GO Pass tasks, and event Field Research create opportunities to encounter Bramblin. The Candy is awarded when you catch a Bramblin. Niantic’s support documentation states: “Every time you catch a Pokémon of a particular species, you’ll receive Candy for that species.” In practical terms, each Bramblin you successfully catch contributes Bramblin Candy; simply seeing one on the map does not.
There is no need to buy a physical product or accessory to obtain this Candy. The relevant routes are in-game event features and encounters.

Event dates and Bramblin encounter windows
The event schedule uses your local time. Bramblin is listed among the Incense encounters in both event periods below.
| Event period | Local-time schedule | What it means for Bramblin hunting |
|---|---|---|
| First period | October 13, 2026, 10:00 a.m. to October 16, 2026, 10:00 a.m. | Regular Incense can produce Bramblin encounters listed for the event. |
| Second period | October 16, 2026, 10:00 a.m. to October 19, 2026, 8:00 p.m. | Bramblin remains in the announced event Incense encounter pool. |
| GO Pass reward deadline | October 21, 2026, 8:00 p.m. | Unlocked GO Pass rewards expire after this time if they have not been claimed. |
The official announcement does not promise that every Incense spawn will be Bramblin, nor does it state a fixed encounter rate. Treat Incense as an additional source of encounter checks rather than a guaranteed Bramblin generator. Event schedules can change, and GO Pass Deluxe availability may differ by region.
Use regular Incense during the event
Choose the correct item
Niantic’s event announcement specifically lists Bramblin among encounters from Incense. It separately excludes Daily Adventure Incense from that announced Bramblin pool. If your objective is Bramblin Candy, activate the regular Incense item used for event encounters rather than assuming Daily Adventure Incense will provide the same species.
Recommended Free Tools
Make each activation count
- Start the game during one of the two Bramblin-listed event periods.
- Activate regular Incense from your item inventory.
- Stay active and tap every Bramblin that appears.
- Complete the catch so the species Candy is awarded.
- Check the Bramblin entry in your Pokémon storage if you want to confirm that the Candy total increased.
The announcement does not provide a species-specific Incense percentage, a guaranteed number of Bramblin encounters, or a special bonus amount of Candy per catch. Plan around the number of encounters you can actually catch, not an assumed spawn quota.
When Incense is the best route
Incense is useful when you can play continuously for a period and want repeated encounter opportunities without waiting for a particular Field Research task. It is also the only one of the three announced routes that you can deliberately start on demand. Because Daily Adventure Incense is excluded from the listed pool, do not spend time relying on it for this event-specific target.

Progress the event GO Pass
Why GO Pass matters
The official announcement identifies GO Pass tasks as another way to encounter Bramblin. GO Pass can therefore produce Bramblin opportunities without requiring every encounter to come from Incense. The same event also includes other rewards, so read each unlocked reward rather than assuming that every claim is a Bramblin encounter or Bramblin Candy.
A practical task routine
- Open the event’s GO Pass panel and review the currently available tasks.
- Prioritize tasks you can finish during normal play, because completed tasks can unlock rewards or encounters.
- Claim completed rewards as soon as you can identify them; this prevents an end-of-event scramble.
- When a reward produces a Bramblin encounter, enter the encounter and catch it before moving on.
- Recheck the pass after completing a batch of tasks so newly unlocked steps are not overlooked.
GO Pass rewards are time-limited even though some tasks may be completed before the event’s final hour. The announced expiration is October 21, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Treat that as a hard claim deadline for unlocked rewards. A reward that is still sitting unclaimed after the deadline should not be counted in your Candy plan.
Regional and purchase caveat
The event announcement says GO Pass Deluxe availability may vary by region. That means a player in one location may not see exactly the same pass options as a player elsewhere. The Bramblin encounter route itself is still described through GO Pass tasks, but the presence or availability of a Deluxe tier is not universal.
Complete event Field Research
Look for the event-tagged tasks
Event-themed Field Research tasks may reward encounters with Bramblin. This route is different from a generic Candy reward: the task gives you a Bramblin encounter, and catching that Pokémon then gives Bramblin Candy.
- Collect available Field Research during the event.
- Identify tasks marked as part of the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event.
- Finish the objective exactly as written.
- Claim the reward and enter any Bramblin encounter it provides.
- Catch the Bramblin before discarding the task or leaving the encounter.
The announcement says some event Field Research can award Rare Candy as well as Bramblin encounters. It does not say that every Field Research task gives Bramblin, and it does not describe event Rare Candy as automatically becoming Bramblin Candy. Count only the Candy you receive after catching Bramblin unless the game explicitly presents a separate, species-specific conversion option.

When Field Research is the best route
Field Research is valuable for players who prefer task-based progress or who cannot keep Incense active for long sessions. It can also supplement Incense and GO Pass play: a research encounter is an additional chance to catch Bramblin rather than a replacement for the other routes.

Catch every Bramblin you encounter
Catching is the conversion point for all three routes. A Bramblin from Incense, a GO Pass reward, and an event Field Research reward all follow the same basic rule: complete the catch and you receive Candy for that species. If you leave an encounter unfinished, flee, or fail to catch the Pokémon, you should not count it as Candy already earned.
Keep a simple Candy ledger
Before starting a session, open a Bramblin in your Pokémon storage and note the Candy total shown on its summary. After catching several Bramblin, check the same species total again. This is useful when you are combining multiple sources and want to distinguish Candy earned from catches from rewards that merely produced another encounter.
- Encounter found: an opportunity has appeared, but no Bramblin Candy has been awarded yet.
- Bramblin caught: the species Candy is added according to the game’s normal catch reward.
- Reward claimed but encounter unfinished: the encounter still needs to be completed before you can count its Candy.
The supplied official material does not state a fixed Candy amount per Bramblin catch, so do not plan with an assumed number. Your final total depends on how many Bramblin you actually catch and the game’s current catch rewards.
How many Candy are needed to evolve Bramblin?
A current event guide reports that Bramblin evolves into Brambleghast for 50 Bramblin Candy after you have walked 20 km with Bramblin as your buddy. That species-specific requirement is not stated in Niantic’s official Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek announcement, so treat it as a corroborated third-party report rather than an official event-rule quotation.

Before spending Candy, use the in-game Bramblin summary as the authority for your account. Open Bramblin in your Pokémon storage and inspect the evolution panel. Confirm both the Candy figure and any buddy-walking requirement displayed there. The summary screen reflects the requirement the game is currently applying, including any account, version, or event differences that an outside guide may not capture.
Plan the walk separately from the Candy hunt
If your summary shows the reported 20 km buddy requirement, remember that walking and catching solve different parts of the evolution. Incense, GO Pass, and Field Research increase the number of Bramblin you can catch; they do not replace the buddy distance. Set Bramblin as your buddy before accumulating the required distance, then monitor the buddy progress in the game rather than assuming distance has been credited.
Do not spend 50 Candy solely because an outside guide lists that number. Verify the number on the summary first, especially if the game has changed since the guide was published.
Which route should you prioritize?
| Route | Produces | Time limit or dependency | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular Incense | Bramblin encounter opportunities | Only during the announced event periods for the listed pool; Daily Adventure Incense is excluded | Active sessions when you want encounters on demand |
| GO Pass tasks | Event progress and, where specified, Bramblin encounters or other rewards | Unlocked rewards expire October 21, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. local time; Deluxe availability may vary by region | Players who can complete structured objectives and claim rewards promptly |
| Event Field Research | Possible Bramblin encounters, plus other event rewards on some tasks | Tasks and rewards are tied to the event period | Task-focused play and additional encounter attempts alongside Incense |
| Direct catch | Bramblin Candy | Requires successfully catching the Bramblin encounter | Every time any of the routes produces Bramblin |
For most players, combining routes is more reliable than selecting only one. Use regular Incense while actively playing, complete GO Pass tasks in the background of that session, and pick up event Field Research whenever it fits your route. The combination increases encounter opportunities without assuming that any one source has a guaranteed rate.

October 13–16: start with the first Incense window
During the opening period, activate regular Incense when you can remain engaged, then catch every Bramblin it produces. At the same time, review GO Pass tasks and collect event Field Research. Early progress gives you more time to complete multi-step objectives and more opportunities to discover whether your local task pool is producing Bramblin encounters.

October 16–19: use the second Incense window
The second announced period begins October 16 at 10:00 a.m. local time and runs through the event’s close on October 19 at 8:00 p.m. If you did not reach your Candy target in the first period, this is the remaining Incense window for the listed Bramblin pool. Continue catching Bramblin from any source and finish outstanding event tasks before the event ends.
October 20–21: claim, do not postpone
After the event closes, check the GO Pass panel for unlocked rewards. The announced claim deadline is October 21 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Claim anything you earned before that cutoff; a reward left unclaimed is not useful to your Candy total once it expires.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Using Daily Adventure Incense for the event pool
Daily Adventure Incense is explicitly excluded from the announced Bramblin Incense encounters. Use regular Incense for this event target and treat Daily Adventure Incense as a separate feature.
Confusing an encounter with Candy
A Bramblin icon, a task reward, or a pass unlock is not the same as Candy in your inventory. Enter the encounter and complete the catch. Only then should you add that Bramblin to your Candy count.
Waiting until after the event to claim GO Pass rewards
The GO Pass claim window extends beyond the event itself, but only to October 21 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Set a reminder or check the pass immediately after finishing the event so the deadline does not erase rewards you already unlocked.
Assuming every research task is a Bramblin task
Event Field Research may reward Bramblin encounters, but the announcement does not say that every event task does so. Read the individual reward before deciding how much Candy a task is likely to produce.
Treating the evolution requirement as official event text
The 50-Candy and 20-kilometer figures come from a current third-party event guide, while the official announcement reviewed here does not state that species-specific requirement. Verify the Bramblin summary screen before spending Candy or committing to a buddy-walking plan.
