Catch Minior in the wild during a scheduled Minior Shower. The caught Pokémon appears in Meteor Form, the shell-covered form. Encounter odds are boosted from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time on event days, and catches award increased Stardust. To expose the colored Core Form, use Minior in an eligible battle and reduce its HP to below 50 percent. The initial eligible battle types are Team GO Rocket encounters, team-leader battles, and GO Battle League.
What the “meteorite shell” is in Pokémon GO
Minior’s shell is not a separate item, evolution, or collectible. It is the Pokémon’s Meteor Form: the rocky exterior shown when you encounter and catch it. During a Minior Shower, Minior can appear in the wild in this shell-covered form. Catching one is therefore the way to obtain the shell form; there is no second shell pickup to find afterward.
The same caught Minior can reveal a colored core during battle. The Pokémon GO team describes the trigger precisely: Minior remains in Meteor Form until its health is reduced to below 50%, at which point it changes form and exposes its core. “Below” matters. Reaching exactly half health is not the stated threshold; the HP must pass under the halfway point.
These are two separate parts of the process. Event timing controls when you can find Minior in the wild, while battle rules control when the shell opens. You do not reveal a core simply by waiting for a weather condition or by catching a second Minior.

How to catch Minior’s Meteor Form
- Plan around a Minior Shower. Minior’s wild appearance is tied to the scheduled meteor events listed below. Outside an active event window, the announcement does not promise the same wild availability.
- Check your local clock. The event dates and times are expressed in local time. On each event day, the encounter boost is specifically listed for 5:00 p.m. through 9:00 p.m.
- Play during the boosted period. Open Pokémon GO during that four-hour evening window and look for wild Minior encounters. The boost increases encounter odds; it is not a guarantee that every spawn will be Minior.
- Catch the encounter. A successful catch gives you Minior in Meteor Form, which is the shell-covered appearance described by the announcement.
- Keep the caught Pokémon for a battle test. The same Minior can be used later to demonstrate the Core Form trigger in an eligible battle.
Minior catches also provide increased Stardust during the event. That bonus is attached to catching Minior during the event; it is separate from the form-change mechanic and does not affect the HP threshold.
Minior Shower dates and local-time windows
The recurring schedule supplied for Minior Showers uses the following local-time windows. Each listed start is 5:00 p.m., and each listed end is 11:59 p.m. on the final date unless a separate boosted-period note applies. The encounter increase is specifically 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. on event days.
| Minior Shower | Event window (local time) | Boosted encounter period |
|---|---|---|
| Orionids | October 19 at 5:00 p.m. through October 24 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. each event day |
| Leonids | November 14 at 5:00 p.m. through November 19 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. each event day |
| Geminids | December 11 at 5:00 p.m. through December 16 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. each event day |
| Eta Aquariids | May 3 at 5:00 p.m. through May 8 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. each event day |
| Southern Delta Aquariids | July 28 at 5:00 p.m. through August 2 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. each event day |
| Perseids | August 10 at 5:00 p.m. through August 15 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. each event day |
An independent event listing identifies the first Orionids window as October 19, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. through October 24, 2026 at 11:59 p.m., in local time. Because event schedules can be revised, check the current official Pokémon GO announcement before travelling or reserving a specific evening. A date shown in one calendar is not a promise that a future year will use identical dates.
Why local time matters
The schedule is not a single worldwide UTC window. A 5:00 p.m. start means 5:00 p.m. where your Pokémon GO play location is observing local time. The same event can therefore begin at different moments on the clock in different regions while still following the same local-time rule.

For practical planning, treat 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. as the priority hunting block and the remainder of the listed event dates as additional availability. Starting before 5:00 p.m. may miss the encounter increase even if the overall event has already begun, while playing after 9:00 p.m. remains inside the event window but outside the stated boosted period.
- Confirm the date in the game’s current event information rather than relying on an old calendar.
- Use the clock in your own location; do not convert another player’s time unless you also account for the player’s region.
- Allow for the event’s final end at 11:59 p.m. local time on the last listed date.
How to reveal Minior’s Core Form
The form change initially works only in three battle contexts: Team GO Rocket battles, battles against team leaders, and GO Battle League. The announcement does not establish ordinary wild encounters, gym battles, raids, or other modes as valid triggers, so use one of the three named contexts when you are trying to reproduce the change.
- Choose a caught Minior in Meteor Form. The Pokémon must first have been obtained through the wild encounter process described above.
- Enter an eligible battle. Select a Team GO Rocket encounter, a team-leader battle, or a GO Battle League match. These are the battle types identified for the initial implementation.
- Watch Minior’s HP. Continue the battle while Minior is active and reduce its health. The relevant measurement is the Pokémon’s current HP compared with its maximum HP.
- Pass below half health. Keep battling until the HP is lower than 50 percent. The trigger is not described as “at half”; it occurs once the value is below half.
- Observe the form change. At that point Minior changes from Meteor Form and exposes its colored core. The core’s color is determined by the Minior you have and the color availability for the event and region.
The official wording describes the change as occurring while Minior battles. It does not, in the supplied information, promise a separate permanent overworld model, a button that manually toggles forms, or a non-battle method for opening the shell. Do not spend Stardust, candy, or an item expecting those resources to activate the Core Form; none is identified as a requirement.

| State | When you see it | Battle profile |
|---|---|---|
| Meteor Form (shell-covered) | When Minior is caught in the wild and before its HP falls below 50 percent in an eligible battle | Higher Defense and lower Attack |
| Exposed Core Form | After Minior’s HP is reduced below 50 percent during an eligible battle | Higher Attack and lower Defense |
This creates a clear tactical trade-off. Meteor Form favors durability before the threshold: its higher Defense and lower Attack make it the more defensive state. Once the shell opens, the higher Attack and lower Defense shift the emphasis toward offensive pressure while making Minior less defensively resilient. The event schedule does not change those battle properties; it only determines when wild Minior encounters are available.
Minior’s seven Core colors
Pokémon GO has seven Core colors for Minior: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. A Minior that opens its shell exposes one of these colored cores.
One different Core color debuts during each meteor shower. That rollout means a particular shower can be associated with a debut color, but the complete color-to-shower mapping is not published in the supplied official announcement. Do not assume, for example, that the first shower always corresponds to a particular color or that a color shown in a player’s post is available in every region.

Hemisphere-specific debut colors
The Geminids announcement specifically assigns one debut color to the Northern Hemisphere and another to the Southern Hemisphere. This is a regional distinction, not a different form-change rule: players in both hemispheres still reveal a core by reducing Minior’s HP below 50 percent in an eligible battle.

Because the announcement does not provide a complete color table, the safest way to identify a debut color is to read the current event announcement for your hemisphere when that shower is announced. The seven-color list is established; the date-by-date assignment is not fully established in the information available here.
Planning a successful Minior hunt
Before the event
- Mark the relevant shower dates in your calendar, preserving the local-time designation.
- Prioritize an evening from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. if increased encounter odds are your goal.
- Leave room for catches and storage so an encounter is not lost because your Pokémon collection is full.
- Decide which eligible battle you will use for the form demonstration: Team GO Rocket, a team leader, or GO Battle League.
During the boosted hours
- Start at or after 5:00 p.m. local time on an active event day.
- Catch every Minior you want to keep in Meteor Form or test for a core.
- Remember that the Stardust increase applies to catches and is independent of the later battle trigger.
- If you are seeking a particular color, check the current announcement’s hemisphere information instead of relying on an unverified color list.
After catching one
- Use the caught Minior in one of the three initially supported battle types.
- Monitor its HP and continue until it is demonstrably under 50 percent.
- Confirm that the shell has opened and the colored core is visible before ending your test.
Troubleshooting common problems
Minior is not appearing as often as expected
Check both clocks in the schedule. The overall shower window and the four-hour encounter boost are different: the event can be active while the 5:00–9:00 p.m. increase is not. Also verify that you are using the dates for the current announcement and your own local time. The boost increases odds, so it does not guarantee a Minior at every spawn point or encounter.
The shell did not open when HP reached half
The stated trigger is below 50 percent, not 50 percent exactly. Continue the eligible battle until Minior’s HP passes under the halfway threshold. If it still does not change, verify that the battle is a Team GO Rocket encounter, a team-leader battle, or a GO Battle League match; those are the initially supported contexts.

The initial announcement limits the mechanic to the three named battle types. A result in another mode cannot be used to show that the mode supports the trigger. Use one of the supported contexts instead, and recheck later official updates for any expansion.

You expected a specific color
Seven colors exist, but the supplied official material does not publish a complete shower-by-shower color table. The Geminids can also assign different debut colors by hemisphere. Check the announcement for the particular shower and region rather than treating a community-made schedule as universal.
You are using an old date
Event windows are subject to change. The recurring dates provide a planning framework, while the current official announcement is the authority for the live event. Recheck it before arranging a trip or committing to one evening.
What is and is not required
- Required to obtain Meteor Form: a Minior Shower wild encounter and a successful catch.
- Helpful for better encounter odds: playing from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time on an event day.
- Required to expose the Core Form: an eligible battle and HP reduced below 50 percent.
- Initially eligible battle types: Team GO Rocket, team leaders, and GO Battle League.
- Not identified as required: a physical accessory, a paid product, an evolution item, Stardust, or candy.
The shortest reliable method
For the shell, play a Minior Shower, preferably during the 5:00–9:00 p.m. local boosted period, and catch Minior in the wild. For the core, take that Minior into a Team GO Rocket battle, a team-leader battle, or GO Battle League and reduce its HP to below 50 percent. Meteor Form is the higher-Defense state; the exposed Core Form is the higher-Attack state. Seven core colors are available, with debut timing and at least one Geminids color assignment varying by hemisphere, so consult the current event announcement before hunting for a specific color.
