To get Gumoss Leaf in Palworld, capture or defeat Gumoss: a Palworld 1.0 data listing reports a 50% chance of one leaf per Gumoss. For a practical early-game farm, rotate through nearby Gumoss clusters rather than waiting at one spawn. You may also be able to buy the leaf from a merchant, but published listings conflict, so check the merchant’s live inventory and price in your game.
How Gumoss Leaf drops
PalMods’ Palworld 1.0 data records a 50% chance for one Gumoss Leaf from Gumoss. NerdsChalk reports that both capturing and defeating standard Gumoss can produce the drop; the sources do not establish a different chance for either method. The item description reproduced by the databases reads: “Leaf dropped from a Gumoss. Fresh and sticky, it is used to make clothing.” PalMods’ Gumoss Leaf data and Palworldwiki.org’s item page list the item description and properties.
PalMods describes the main-island farm area as level 2–9 and includes a special Gumoss source entry with the same reported drop rate. That means the available records do not support a blanket claim that Flower Gumoss cannot drop leaves; check the source you encounter in your current game.

Capture or defeat?
- Capture Gumoss if you want to keep a particular Pal for your base. NerdsChalk recommends capturing wanted workers and defeating others.
- Defeat Gumoss if you do not want to keep it and are farming materials. The recorded chance is the same as for capture; no separate yield advantage is established.
A practical early-game Gumoss farming route
NerdsChalk suggests sweeping Gumoss clusters in Windswept Hills, including the Hill of Beginnings slope, then rotating toward Moonless Shore and routes on the Sea Breeze side before returning to earlier clusters. The recommendation is to clear several clusters rather than wait for one spawn to return. This is a suggested route, not a measured fastest route: no independently verified travel times or coordinates are available.
- Start in Windswept Hills and check the Hill of Beginnings slope for Gumoss.
- Move on to the Moonless Shore and Sea Breeze-side routes, defeating or capturing Pals according to whether you want to keep them.
- After checking those clusters, return to the earlier area and repeat the loop. If no Gumoss are available, continue rotating instead of remaining at a single spawn point.
Can you buy Gumoss Leaf?
Merchant information conflicts. PalMods’ Palworld 1.0 data lists Caravan Merchant 24 and Caravan Merchant 25 with one Gumoss Leaf for 500 Gold. NerdsChalk also reports a 500-Gold purchase from a wandering merchant. By contrast, the older Palworld Wiki.gg page says the leaf cannot be bought. These are third-party records, not a guarantee of current stock in every game version. Check the merchant’s inventory and displayed price before planning around a purchase.

Do not confuse a purchase price with a sale value. The wiki.gg page reports a sell price of 30, while PalMods lists merchant purchases at 500 Gold and Palworldwiki.org reports a sell price of 500. Those figures conflict, so rely on the value shown in your own game if you intend to sell the item.

How to choose the best method
- Choose the cluster loop if you want to farm without spending Gold and are willing to travel between spawn areas. Its efficiency has not been benchmarked.
- Capture Gumoss when retaining a Pal matters more than clearing the area; the reported leaf chance is not lower than for defeating it.
- Use a merchant only after confirming the leaf is in stock and checking its current price, since third-party records disagree about availability.
