To get Hydrapple in Pokémon GO, first evolve Applin into Dipplin with 200 Applin Candy and 20 Syrupy Apples. Then make Dipplin your buddy, catch seven Dragon-type Pokémon, and spend 400 Applin Candy to evolve it into Hydrapple. The evolution requirements are documented, but the latest event-based source does not establish how to obtain Applin or Syrupy Apples after the event ended.
What you need for the Applin-to-Hydrapple evolution
| Evolution | Requirements |
|---|---|
| Applin to Dipplin | 200 Applin Candy and 20 Syrupy Apples |
| Dipplin to Hydrapple | 400 Applin Candy and catch seven Dragon-type Pokémon while Dipplin is your buddy |
These requirements were announced by the Pokémon GO team for the Pokémon’s debut. Pokémon GO’s 2025 Harvest Festival announcement confirms the Candy and Syrupy Apple cost for the first evolution.

- Set Dipplin as your buddy.
- While Dipplin is your buddy, catch seven Dragon-type Pokémon.
- After the buddy catch condition is met, select Dipplin in your Pokémon collection and use 400 Applin Candy to evolve it into Hydrapple.
This is a sequential evolution path: you must first have Dipplin, and the Dragon-type catches are a separate condition for the second evolution.

Can you get Applin and Syrupy Apples now?
The latest official event source covered here describes an Applin and apple opportunity during Harvest Festival: Applin Picking, which ran from September 29 through October 5, 2026. During that event, apples could appear at PokéStops with active Mossy Lure Modules; tapping them could award Syrupy Apples, other apples, or an encounter such as Applin. The event has ended.
The 2026 Harvest Festival announcement does not establish a continuing, non-event way to obtain Applin or Syrupy Apples. Accordingly, the evolution costs are documented, but current post-event availability of those items and Pokémon is not confirmed by that source.
