You can get BMAD on a virtual dedicated server (VDS) either by selecting it as a preinstalled application during purchase or by installing it yourself later. The documented Bluehost setup is an SSH-accessible, command-line development environment—not a physical server shipment or a BMAD web dashboard. Confirm the current plan, software availability, price and renewal terms with the provider before checkout.
What you are buying
A VDS is hosted server capacity configured for remote use. In the documented purchase flow, BMAD is a software option on the server, rather than a separate physical product. BMAD coordinates specialized AI agents through an Agile development workflow; example roles include analyst, project manager, architect and developer. The BMAD-METHOD user guide describes IDE and web UI workflows, but those should not be confused with the interface available on this particular hosted server.
BMad Code describes the method as free, MIT-licensed and available for commercial use. Hosting is a separate service, and AI provider usage may have separate costs.

How to select BMAD during VDS checkout
Bluehost’s guide, updated August 27, 2026, documents choosing BMAD during initial VDS configuration. The exact labels, availability and terms can change, so verify them in the live checkout flow. Read Bluehost’s purchase and setup guide.
#1 Best Overall
- Choose the VDS configuration. Select a data-center location and hardware configuration that suits your workload and latency needs.
- Open the Software section. Select BMAD if it is listed for the plan you want. The guide says the operating system is selected automatically for the chosen application and that one application can be installed per purchase.
- Review the complete offer. Check the disclosed vCPU, memory and storage, billing term, renewal price, support terms and any upgrade path. Bluehost warns that pricing can change.
- Complete checkout and wait for provisioning. Use the access details provided for the server; the illustrated environment is reached through SSH.
What the documented server includes
Bluehost’s example configuration lists Ubuntu 24.04, Node.js 24, the bmad-method CLI and Claude Code. It describes SSH-only terminal access and no BMAD web GUI. These are provider-described example details, not an independent test or a guarantee for every current plan. Confirm the versions, included software and access method for the configuration you select.
The hosting account portal, if available, is distinct from a BMAD application interface: the documented BMAD workflow runs in the terminal. The framework guide’s web UI and IDE workflows describe other usage contexts, not a browser dashboard included with this VDS option.

What to configure after provisioning
In Bluehost’s illustrated Claude Code setup, the user adds an Anthropic API key with a setup helper and initializes a project using a bmad-init command. Treat those as steps for that example environment, not universal requirements for every BMAD release or AI coding tool.
- Store API credentials securely. Do not paste keys into public repositories, logs or shared project files.
- Check which AI provider and tools your chosen workflow uses, and account for any usage charges separately from VDS hosting.
- Follow the provider’s current setup instructions for the provisioned image and verify that its commands match the installed software version.
Installing BMAD yourself instead
If you prefer another host or a different environment, the BMAD-METHOD user guide lists npx bmad-method install as an interactive installation route for IDE use. The exact command and workflow may depend on the release and environment; consult the guide for the version you are using rather than assuming every instruction applies to the current BMad Code site.
Rank #3
Manual installation shifts more responsibility to you: provisioning the server, selecting and maintaining its operating system and software, securing SSH access, and updating the framework. A preconfigured option can reduce setup work, but it does not remove the need to review credentials, software updates or server security.
What to compare before committing
The documented purchase guide explains the selection flow but does not establish current plan specifications or prices in the material available here. Compare the live offers rather than relying on assumed values.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| vCPU, RAM, storage and upgrade options | These determine the resources available to your development workload and how readily you can scale. |
| Data-center location | Choose based on where you and collaborators connect from, and any latency requirements. |
| BMAD eligibility and included versions | Confirm that the application is available on the selected plan and check what software is installed. |
| SSH access and security controls | Understand how you will connect and protect the server and its credentials. |
| Billing and support terms | Check the current initial and renewal prices, billing term, support coverage and applicable conditions. |
| AI provider and usage charges | Hosting and model or API usage are separate considerations; confirm the provider and costs for your workflow. |
For organizations adopting BMAD
BMad Code describes consulting and organizational enablement for teams adopting the method at scale. Its site labels official training and certification “Coming soon,” so those should not be treated as currently available offerings.
