To get a Tunisian IP address while abroad, connect to a VPN server located in Tunisia. Choose a provider that currently lists Tunisia, confirm that the location is included in your plan, then connect and check the reported country with an IP lookup service. A Tunisian exit address does not guarantee that a particular website or app will accept the connection.
Connect through a VPN app
A VPN gives you a Tunisian apparent IP address only when your traffic exits through a VPN endpoint in Tunisia. Signing up with a VPN provider by itself is not enough: check for Tunisia in its current server list and verify which plan includes it.
- Choose a provider and plan. Proton VPN describes Tunisia servers on its Tunisia page and says they are not included with its Free plan. Check the provider’s current plan details before subscribing because server availability and plan inclusion can change.
- Install and open the app. Sign in, then find Tunisia in the server list or on the map. Proton says users can select the country either way. Its page describes signing up, downloading the app, and connecting to a Tunisia server.
- Connect and verify. Once connected, use a reputable IP lookup service to see which country its database reports for your connection. Then try the specific website or service you need; a country lookup does not show whether that service will accept the VPN connection.
CometVPN describes signing in to its app, selecting Tunis, and connecting to a city-specific endpoint on its Tunis VPN page. These are the provider’s claims: the cited material does not independently establish its routing, reliability, ownership of the endpoint, or compatibility with third-party services.
Check whether the connection fits your purpose
A matching country is only one part of the test. A website, bank, streaming service, or other platform may refuse VPN traffic or apply its own location checks. The cited provider pages do not confirm acceptance by any named Tunisian service.

Proton advertises encryption, a no-logs policy, a kill switch, and audited open-source apps. CometVPN advertises encrypted connections, no logs, and Tunis-specific routing. These are provider statements, not independent findings about either service.
Use a VPN endpoint on a trusted network in Tunisia
If you have access to a trusted internet connection in Tunisia, you may be able to configure a VPN endpoint there and connect to it remotely. Your traffic would then exit through that Tunisian connection. This is a do-it-yourself option, not a turnkey service: you need permission and access to the network, suitable equipment and configuration, and ongoing maintenance.

A September 2026 Reddit discussion about Tunisians living abroad describes sharing access to a home-hosted service; a commenter mentions a Raspberry Pi as one possible device. The thread does not provide a verified setup guide or establish security, reliability, cost, or ease. A Raspberry Pi alone does not provide a Tunisian IP address; it would need to be part of a correctly configured endpoint on a network in Tunisia.
Understand the legal and travel caveats
Proton’s Tunisia page says VPN use is legal in Tunisia, notes that many VPN websites have been blocked, and cautions that activity through a VPN remains subject to local laws. That is Proton’s statement; the cited material does not independently confirm the current legal position through an authoritative Tunisian source.

A Columbia Business School Chazen Institute Tunisia destination guide, generated on 9 June 2025, advises travelers to use a VPN to protect communications and secure data, to check the legal status of VPNs and applications at their destination, and to be cautious with insecure public Wi-Fi. This is general travel guidance, not a determination of Tunisian law.

TunTrust’s VPN Certificate product page describes certificates for associating network equipment, such as routers and firewalls, with a public key and securing tunnels between an organization and its branches. It is not presented as a consumer VPN subscription or as a way for an individual to route internet traffic through Tunisia.
