To freeze a Revolut card, open Home in the app, tap the card icon, select the card, and tap Freeze. If the card is lost, stolen, or physically damaged, use Replace card in its settings instead; a lost-card replacement flow terminates the old card and lets you order another.
Use a freeze when you may recover the card or need to stop payments while you investigate. Replace a card you cannot safely use again. Revolut’s exact menus, fees, and delivery options can vary by market and app version.
Freeze or replace: which should you choose?
A freeze is a reversible security control for an active card. Revolut says attempted card payments will fail while the card is frozen, and you can unfreeze it if you find it. Replacement is the appropriate route when the card is lost, stolen, or damaged; for a lost or stolen card, Revolut’s instructions lead you through terminating the old card and ordering another.

The key question is whether you still expect to use this particular card. If it may be somewhere safe and you can retrieve it, a temporary freeze gives you time to look without immediately choosing the replacement-and-termination route. If someone took it, you cannot locate it, or it is damaged beyond use, the replacement flow is the more relevant option. Revolut recommends replacing a lost or stolen card as soon as possible.

These actions are not interchangeable. A freeze is reversible for an active card: you can choose Unfreeze if you recover it. Replacing a lost or stolen card takes you through prompts to terminate the old card and order another. Do not treat a freeze as a permanent substitute for replacement when the card is stolen or cannot be recovered.
How to freeze a Revolut card
- Open the Revolut mobile app and go to Home.
- Tap the card icon in the top-right corner.
- Select the card you want to secure.
- Tap Freeze.
These steps are from Revolut’s Netherlands help page. That page also describes an alternate route: tap your profile icon, go to Security, choose Lost card, select the card, and tap Freeze. Revolut lists a similar route through Home and the card icon in its web app. Menu names or placement may differ by market or software version. See Revolut’s Netherlands card-freeze instructions.
Make sure you select the specific card that is missing or potentially compromised before tapping Freeze. Revolut’s controls are card-specific, so check the selected card rather than assuming the first one shown is the one you intend to secure. This matters if you have more than one Revolut card listed in the app.

If you subsequently find the card and it is still active, you can unfreeze it. If you know it was stolen or do not expect to recover it, continue to the replacement flow instead.
Alternate route and web app
If the card icon route is not convenient, Revolut’s Netherlands instructions provide another path in the mobile app: open your profile, choose Security, then Lost card, select the relevant card, and tap Freeze. The same help page describes a web-app path through Home and the card icon. Because Revolut says labels and layouts can vary by market or software version, these routes may not look identical on every account.
If a menu label differs, first return to the card list and confirm that you are looking at the right card. Then look for its controls. Do not assume the absence of an identically placed button means that the action is unavailable; the cited instructions cover particular market versions and interface wording.

Unfreeze a card you find
If you recover a card that is still active, open its controls and tap Unfreeze. Revolut’s UK reactivation guidance covers reactivating a found card; a card already terminated through replacement is not simply restored by this control. See Revolut’s UK guidance on reactivating a card.
In practical terms, decide whether you used a temporary freeze or already followed the replacement flow. If you only froze the card and then found it, the cited guidance says an active card can be unfrozen. If you selected replacement and the old card was terminated, the old card is not brought back simply by tapping Unfreeze. That distinction is why freezing is useful when the card may turn up, while replacement is the appropriate route when it is gone for good or unsafe to keep using.
Replace a lost or stolen card
Revolut’s France help page recommends replacing a lost or stolen card as soon as possible. Its stated flow is:
- Open Home and tap the cards icon.
- Select the missing card.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Replace card.
- Choose the reason, such as lost or stolen, and follow the on-screen prompts.
The prompts guide you through terminating the missing card and ordering a replacement. Do not rely on a temporary freeze as the final step if the card has been stolen or cannot be recovered. Revolut’s help page uses the heading “My card was stolen. What should I do?” See Revolut’s France lost-card guidance.
Choose the reason that matches what happened, then review and complete the prompts in the app. The important difference from freezing is that this is a termination-and-order process, not just a temporary pause. If you are unsure whether you lost the card or it was taken, avoid leaving a card you cannot secure on a temporary freeze indefinitely; the cited guidance advises replacing a lost or stolen card promptly.

Replace a damaged or non-working physical card
If the physical card is damaged, Revolut’s UK instructions direct you to Home > cards icon > select the card > Settings > Replace card. Choose the relevant reason and follow the prompts. Fees may apply.
A declined payment does not automatically mean the card needs replacing. In the transaction list, tap the failed transaction to inspect its decline reason first. Revolut’s UK guidance also covers contactless, chip-and-PIN, and ATM problems, which can have causes other than physical damage. This check helps separate a damaged-card problem from a payment problem. If the card is visibly damaged or physically unusable, replacement is the relevant option. If it looks intact but one payment failed, inspect that transaction before ordering; Revolut’s guidance points to the decline reason as a first diagnostic step. A failed contactless payment, chip-and-PIN attempt, or ATM transaction may need troubleshooting and does not by itself prove that the physical card must be replaced.
Once you have checked the relevant issue and still need a replacement, use the card’s Settings and choose Replace card. Follow the on-screen prompts and check any fee shown before you confirm. The UK guidance says fees may apply; it does not establish a single fee that applies to every plan, country, card design, or delivery selection.
Order a physical card and check the cost
For a new physical card, Revolut’s UK ordering instructions give this route:
- Open Home and tap the card icon.
- Tap Add new.
- Choose the account for the card.
- Select Physical card.
- Choose a card type or design, then follow the prompts to complete the order.
Revolut says the card brand is fixed for each card type. The available delivery options, any complimentary-card allowance, and the charge depend on the plan, card, customization, and delivery choice. The cited ordering page is UK-specific, so it does not establish a universal price or allowance for other markets. There is no reliable universal replacement price to quote from the available guidance. Your account’s in-app order summary is the useful point of comparison: check the displayed amount and delivery choice before completing the order. Also distinguish replacement from ordering a physical card through the general Add new route. This phone-wallet option is an interim possibility, not a guarantee that every customer can pay before delivery. Check whether your replacement is eligible and available in the app. If it is, adding it to Apple Pay or Google Pay may let you use a phone while waiting for the physical card. If it is not available for your card or market, the cited sources do not establish another universal way to access the replacement before it arrives.
