A Zebra printer that is not working in Windows 11 may have a connection, queue, spooler, default-printer, or driver problem. “Offline” status alone does not identify the cause. Work through the checks below in order, starting with the connection and Windows’ built-in printer setup.
1. Check the Zebra printer and its connection
Before changing drivers, confirm that Windows can communicate with the printer.
- Make sure the Zebra printer is powered on and ready. Check for an error, paused, or out-of-labels condition on the printer itself.
- For a USB printer, disconnect and reconnect the cable at both ends. Try another USB port on the PC.
- For a network printer, confirm that the printer and Windows 11 PC are connected to the same network. A printer on one Wi-Fi network and a PC on another may not be discoverable, even if both have internet access.
- Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds. Restart the PC, turn the printer back on, and try again.
USB detection is a separate issue from a Zebra driver failure. If Windows does not react to the printer at all, test the cable and port before replacing software.

2. Add the Zebra printer through Windows 11 Settings
Use the current Windows 11 path rather than older Control Panel instructions:

- Cleaning Cloth
Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
- Turn on the Zebra printer. Connect it by USB, or connect it to the same network as the PC.
- Open
Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners. - Next to Add a printer or scanner, select Add device.
- Wait for Windows to search. The list can take several minutes to populate.
- Select the Zebra printer when it appears and follow the installation prompts.
Windows supports many printers with built-in drivers, so installing a Zebra-specific package is not always the first step. After installation, run Windows Update to check for a newer compatible printer driver.
3. Add it manually if Windows cannot find it
If the Zebra does not appear in the search results:
- Open
Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners. - Select The printer that I want isn’t listed.
- In the Add Printer window, select Add a new device manually.
- Follow the available prompts for the printer connection.
For a network printer, discovery may fail when the PC and printer are separated by different SSIDs, wireless extenders, access points, or routers. Put both devices on the same local network before trying the manual setup again.
4. Run Microsoft’s current printer diagnostic
Windows 11 uses the automated Printer troubleshooter in the Get Help app. Open Get Help from Start and run the printer troubleshooter, then follow its prompts.

8. Remove and reinstall the printer
Reinstalling can repair an incomplete device registration or a corrupted printer configuration.
- Open
Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners. - Select the Zebra printer and select Remove.
- Select Yes if Windows asks for confirmation.
- Return to the same page.
- Select Add device next to Add a printer or scanner.
- Complete the installation prompts.
After reinstalling, clear any old print jobs and verify that the newly installed Zebra entry—not a duplicate or obsolete entry—is selected by the application.
9. Check the driver and Windows architecture
Before downloading a manufacturer driver, identify the exact Windows environment:
Start > Settings > System > About
Record the Windows edition and version, and check whether the system is 32-bit, 64-bit, or ARM-based. Any Zebra driver must match the printer model and the Windows architecture.

- Open Start > Device Manager.
- Expand Printers or Print queues.
- Right-click the Zebra printer and select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Select Roll Back Driver if that option is available.
- Restart the PC and test the printer.
Uninstall the device when the driver is unusable
If no suitable update is available, open Device Manager, expand Printers, right-click the Zebra printer, and select Uninstall device. Restart Windows afterward. Windows will attempt to reinstall the printer driver automatically.
10. Watch for the Windows-on-ARM problem
Some ARM-based PCs, including certain Copilot+ PCs, may fail with a printer manufacturer’s installer. Microsoft recommends using the Windows Add or install a printer workflow instead.
To check the system type, open Start > Settings > System > About. Under Device specifications, an ARM PC shows ARM-based processor next to System type.
What the symptoms usually indicate
| Symptom | Most useful first check |
|---|---|
| Nothing appears when the USB cable is connected | Check both cable ends and try another USB port. |
| The printer is missing from Add device | Confirm the same network, wait for discovery, then use The printer that I want isn’t listed. |
| Jobs stay in “Printing” or “Pending” | Clear the queue and restart the Print Spooler. |
| Windows says “Offline” | Check the connection, default printer, spooler, and installation; offline status does not prove hardware failure. |
| Printing broke immediately after an update | Check Device Manager and use Roll Back Driver when available. |
| The manufacturer installer will not run on the PC | Check whether the PC uses an ARM-based processor and use Windows’ built-in printer installation. |
Mixed Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments
If the Zebra is shared from another computer, check the host machine as well as the Windows 11 client. Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. Windows 10 no longer receives Microsoft’s free Windows Update software updates, technical assistance, or security fixes after that date. This does not alter the Windows 11 installation path, but an outdated host can complicate shared-printer troubleshooting.
When to contact Zebra or the administrator
Escalate the issue after Windows cannot detect the printer over a verified cable or the printer remains unavailable on a confirmed shared network. Have the exact Zebra model, Windows edition and version, system architecture, connection type, and any Device Manager error available. That information is more useful than simply reporting that the printer shows “Offline.”

FAQ
Why is my Zebra printer showing Offline in Windows 11?
Offline status can result from a network or USB connection problem, a stopped Print Spooler, a stuck queue, the wrong default printer, or an installation or driver problem. It does not by itself prove that the Zebra printer is defective.
What is the correct Windows 11 path to add a Zebra printer?
Use Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, then select Add device next to Add a printer or scanner.
Do I need a Zebra-specific driver?
Not always. Windows supports many printers with built-in drivers and can provide updated drivers through Windows Update. If the built-in installation fails, match a Zebra driver to the exact printer model and the PC’s Windows architecture.
Recommended Free Tools
How do I clear a Zebra printer queue in Windows 11?
Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select the Zebra, choose Open print queue, and cancel each job. If jobs remain, stop the Print Spooler, delete the files in %WINDIR%system32spoolprinters, then start the service again.
Why can’t Windows find my network Zebra printer?
The PC and printer must be on the same local network. Different SSIDs from extenders, access points, or multiple routers can block discovery even when both devices can access the internet. You can also select The printer that I want isn’t listed and then Add a new device manually.
The Bottom Line
Start with the cable, network, and power-cycle checks, then add the printer through Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners. If it is installed but will not print, clear the queue, restart the Print Spooler, check the default printer, and reinstall the device. Only then move on to a model- and architecture-matched driver or a rollback after a Windows update.
