Most achievement failures in The Witch’s Bakery come from one of three situations: a demo save being carried into the release branch, the Estelle relationship bug locking its second heart, or a genuine requirement—such as a side quest, recipe set, activity, decoration collection, relationship level, or bakery-earnings threshold—not being complete. The correct fix depends on which situation you have.
If you played the demo on Steam, switch to the Default Public Version and start a new game; Sunny Lab says the release build can show a misleading Continue button for an incompatible demo save. If only Estelle’s second heart is locked, back up and edit the specified save value. Otherwise, use the achievement requirements below to identify the missing progress, including the one missable dialogue choice that can require a second playthrough.
Identify the failure before changing anything
Check the symptom first. Restarting unnecessarily can cost an entire playthrough, while continuing an incompatible demo save can leave the game stuck and prevent normal progress.

The game is a 2D narrative Adventure RPG by Sunny Lab, published by Silver Lining Interactive. The Steam edition released on October 14, 2026 and lists Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud. Those features do not make an incompatible demo save safe to continue, so diagnose the branch and save first.

Fix achievements after playing the demo on Steam
Sunny Lab’s October 14, 2026 Steam notice gives a specific recovery path. The demo and release saves are incompatible, even though the release build may still offer a Continue button. The developer’s warning is explicit: “You should start a new game, since saves are incompatible and the game will get stuck at some point if you continue with your old save.”
1. Select the supported release branch
- Open your Steam Library and locate The Witch’s Bakery.
- Right-click the game and choose Properties.
- Open Game Versions & Betas.
- Set the branch to Default Public Version.
- Close the Properties window and allow Steam to finish any branch or build update before launching.
The branch selection matters because the release build must create a save in its own supported format. Merely deleting the demo branch does not remove the old demo save.
2. Start a genuinely new game
After switching branches, choose the option to begin a new game rather than continuing the old slot. Do not treat the visible Continue button as proof that the save is usable. Sunny Lab says the game can accept the old slot far enough to appear playable and then become stuck.

Removing a beta or demo branch from Steam changes the installed branch; it does not erase the old save data. If the release still presents the demo slot, that is expected. The supported solution is a new game on Default Public Version, not repeated attempts to load that slot.
4. Re-earn progress in the clean save
Achievements tied to chapters, relationships, side quests, recipes, activities, decorations, and bakery earnings must be completed in the new compatible save. Keep the old files only as a reference or backup; do not use them as the active release slot.

Repair Estelle’s locked second heart
A separate bug affects the Estelle relationship. In the current version, choosing the bottom dialogue branch in the relevant Estelle scene locks the second heart. This is not the demo-branch problem, and starting over is not the only available remedy.
Back up the save before editing
- Exit the game completely.
- Make a copy of the affected save file in another folder. Keep the untouched copy so you can restore it if an edit is mistyped.
- On Windows, open the game’s save location:
C:Users<username>AppDataLocalLowSunny LabThe Witch’s BakeryGameFilesSlot_0Save.lunne.
The path uses the Windows account name in place of <username>. The file named Save.lunne is the file Sunny Lab identifies for the repair; do not edit an unrelated file or a different slot by accident.
Change the relationship lock value
- Open
Save.lunnein a plain text editor. - Use the editor’s Find command to locate the exact identifier
effc1d56-d2a3-4fe5-bcb2-933781bdf8b5. - Within that entry, find
relationshipLevelsLocked. - Change its value from
truetofalse, leaving the rest of the file unchanged. - Save the file, close the editor, and launch the game.
Sunny Lab says this change unlocks the second heart and allows the relationship to progress normally. The developer’s wording is: “This will unlock the second heart, and let the relationship progress as normal.”
Understand what the edit cannot restore
The developer says a future version fixes the underlying bug, but the skipped theater scene will not return after the lock has been triggered. The edit restores relationship progression; it does not recreate that missed scene. Keep the backup until you confirm the save loads and the heart can advance.
Check ordinary achievement requirements
If the game loads normally and Estelle is unaffected, the achievement may simply require more completion. The achievement guide lists story, side-quest, relationship, bakery-earnings, recipe and cooking, Paris-activity, and decoration achievements. Progress is spread across these systems, so finishing the main story alone is not enough.

Story chapters
Story achievements unlock at the ends of Chapters 1 through 5. Reaching a mid-chapter objective, viewing a scene, or opening a chapter is not the same as completing it. Advance through the chapter-ending sequence in each of the five chapters and allow the game to return to normal control before checking Steam.
Complete every side quest
Completing every side quest unlocks The Heart Of Paris. A missed side quest can therefore explain why the story appears finished while the completion achievement remains locked. Review the journal, map, or available quest list in the same save and finish every side quest rather than only the quests required by the main chapters.
Maximize each character relationship
Relationship achievements require each character’s relationship to reach its maximum. Estelle’s second-heart lock is a known exception that may require the save edit above. For other characters, continue their available interactions and choose dialogue that advances the relationship until the game registers the maximum level.
Reach all bakery-earnings thresholds in one save
The guide lists three cumulative bakery totals: 100 euros, 1,000 euros, and 7,500 euros. AllThingsHow Staff’s 2026 guide specifies that these totals are tracked within a single save. Earnings from separate starts do not combine, so changing to a new save after the demo incompatibility means rebuilding the total in that clean save.

These are cumulative milestones, not a requirement to hold the money at once. Continue operating the bakery in the same compatible slot until each threshold is reached and the corresponding achievement triggers.

Finish recipe and cooking sets
Recipe and cooking achievements are separate from chapter completion. Obtain and complete the recipes the game makes available, then perform the required cooking actions. If a recipe achievement remains locked, check for an unmade recipe rather than repeating a dish you have already completed.
Complete Paris activities
The guide also lists achievements for Paris activities. Visit and finish every activity counted by the game. A location discovered on the map may not count until its activity is actually completed, so use the activity list or in-game completion indicators where available.
Buy every decoration collection
Decoration achievements require every decoration collection, not merely a few individual items. Purchase the collections offered by the bakery’s decoration system and verify that each collection is complete in the same save.

One dialogue choice is missable per playthrough. That means a save can be otherwise complete while a choice-dependent achievement remains unavailable. If you know which branch was selected, replaying the relevant scene on the current route may be enough; otherwise, plan on a second run.
When a second run is the efficient option
- Use a second run when the required dialogue branch cannot be revisited in the current save.
- Keep the new run on a compatible release save, especially if the first run began in the demo.
- Track the choice as you play instead of assuming that seeing the scene again will automatically change the outcome.
- Complete any chapter or relationship condition attached to the choice so the achievement has every prerequisite.
A second run is different from the Estelle repair: the save edit can unlock relationship progression, but it cannot restore the skipped theater scene. Choose replay when the missing achievement depends on a one-time dialogue outcome rather than a locked relationship value.

Use the right recovery for each cause

This distinction prevents the most expensive mistake: restarting for a normal checklist item, or repeatedly loading a demo slot when the developer requires a new release save.
Platform and edition considerations
The demo-save instructions above are specifically for the Steam branch and its save files. The Steam product lists Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud, while Sunny Lab’s launch update states that physical versions for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 became available on Friday, October 16, 2026.
On a console physical edition, the Windows path and Steam branch controls do not apply. Use the platform’s current game build and its own save-management tools. A supported physical copy can provide a clean starting point, but purchasing another copy by itself cannot repair a corrupted or incompatible save. The underlying achievement requirements—chapters, side quests, relationships, earnings, recipes, activities, decorations, and the missable choice—still determine completion where that edition supports the corresponding achievements.

Contact support when the documented fixes fail
Sunny Lab asks players to report unresolved bugs in Steam Discussions. Search existing discussions first and add information to the matching thread; open a new thread only when no relevant report exists. Include the platform, branch, whether the save began in the demo, the chapter and scene involved, and the exact symptom. Do not upload an unredacted save if it exposes personal information in the Windows path.
For an Estelle report, state whether the bottom dialogue branch was selected and whether changing the identified value restored the second heart. For a demo report, state whether Default Public Version was selected and whether a new game was started. These details separate a known issue from a missing requirement and give the developer a reproducible description.
