The right fix depends on when The Crew Motorfest fails: at launch, during play, during online matchmaking, or only as uneven frame pacing. Start by recording your platform, storefront, exact error text, and when the problem began. On PC, compare your hardware with Ubisoft’s published performance tiers, confirm that the game’s permanent internet requirement and BattlEye installation are satisfied, then use the official support route for your symptom. Ubisoft does not identify one universal cause or guaranteed repair for crashes, stuttering, or disconnections.
Identify the failure before changing anything
“Motorfest is broken” can describe several different faults. Separating them prevents you from applying a network remedy to a rendering problem or lowering graphics settings when the game is actually refusing to launch.

| What you see | Useful classification | Details to record |
|---|---|---|
| The game closes before the main menu | Launch crash | Platform, storefront, crash message or code, and whether the launcher opens first |
| The game reaches the menu but closes while driving | In-game crash | Activity that preceded the crash, session length, update or driver changes, and any code |
| The image is consistently slow | Low FPS | Resolution, graphics preset, approximate frame rate, and whether lowering settings changes it |
| The image repeatedly hitches despite an otherwise high frame rate | Stuttering or poor frame pacing | Where the hitch occurs, its frequency, and whether it affects menus, driving, or only online events |
| You cannot sign in, join a session, or remain connected | Online-service connectivity | Exact message, time of failure, platform, and whether other online features work |
Take a screenshot or phone photo of an error before dismissing it. Note whether the issue started immediately after a game update, operating-system change, graphics-driver update, new peripheral, or network change. These observations are triage information, not proof of a cause, but they make a support case substantially more actionable.
Use a quick decision path
If the game never reaches its menu, begin with launch prerequisites and the technical-support route. If it reaches the menu but closes during a particular activity, document that activity and test whether the failure is repeatable elsewhere. If the picture is always slow, compare your measured FPS with the applicable PC target. If the average FPS is acceptable but frames arrive in bursts, describe a frame-pacing problem rather than simply calling it “low FPS.” If sign-in, matchmaking, or an active session fails, use the connectivity route. This classification does not diagnose the cause; it makes sure your evidence reaches the appropriate guide.

Know the requirements that can prevent a launch
The Ubisoft Store lists The Crew Motorfest for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Steam, with a September 14, 2023 release date. The listing states, Permanent internet connection required to play.
A console or PC that is otherwise working correctly can still fail to start or connect if the required online service cannot be reached.
The same listing says BattlEye is installed automatically and is required to play. It specifically warns that the game will not launch if BattlEye has been uninstalled. If you are investigating a launch failure on PC, check that the anti-cheat component is still present rather than treating the symptom as a graphics crash. Requirements and installation behavior can change, so verify the current product page at Ubisoft’s Store listing for your edition.
The internet requirement is broader than matchmaking. Motorfest is presented as an online-dependent game, so losing access to Ubisoft’s services can prevent normal play even when another title works on the same device. Record whether other online functions work, but do not assume that one successful web page or another game proves Motorfest’s service path is healthy.
Use Ubisoft’s PC tiers as a baseline, not a diagnosis
Ubisoft publishes four PC tiers. They are targets for specific resolutions, frame rates, and presets, not a promise that every machine above a tier will be free of crashes or stutter. The figures below are the specifications shown on the accessed Store page; check the live listing because requirements may differ by storefront or be revised.
| Tier and stated target | Operating system and processor | Graphics and memory | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum 1920×1080, 30 FPS, Low |
Windows 10 64-bit; AMD Ryzen 5 1400 at 3.2 GHz or Intel Core i5-4460 at 3.2 GHz | Radeon RX 480 (8 GB) or GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB) or better; 8 GB dual-channel RAM | 40 GB; SSD recommended |
| Recommended 1920×1080, 60 FPS, High |
Windows 10 64-bit; Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X | GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB) or Radeon RX 5700 XT (8 GB); 8 GB dual-channel RAM | 40 GB; SSD recommended |
| High 2560×1440, 60 FPS, High |
Windows 10 64-bit; Intel Core i5-10600K or Ryzen 5 3600 | GeForce RTX 3070 (8 GB) or Radeon RX 6700 XT (12 GB); 16 GB dual-channel RAM | 40 GB; SSD recommended |
| Ultra 3840×2160, 60 FPS, Ultra |
Windows 10 64-bit; Intel Core i5-11600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X | GeForce RTX 3090 (24 GB) or Radeon RX 7900 XT (20 GB); 16 GB dual-channel RAM | 40 GB; SSD recommended |
To compare your system, check the exact CPU model, GPU model and video-memory capacity, installed RAM in dual-channel configuration, free storage, and Windows edition. Being below the minimum is a compatibility warning. Being above Recommended does not rule out a damaged installation, an anti-cheat problem, a driver conflict, thermal throttling, or a service outage.
The tiers also explain what “recommended” means. Ubisoft’s Recommended line is 1080p at 60 FPS on High, while the High and Ultra lines raise the target resolution to 1440p and 2160p. A system that meets the 1080p target should not automatically be expected to deliver 4K/60. Conversely, meeting the Ultra list is a performance baseline, not evidence that a crash cannot be caused by software or services. The 40 GB figure is the listed storage requirement; an SSD is recommended, but the listing does not promise that installing on an SSD eliminates stutter or crashes.

The connection article separates online-service trouble from problems running the game. If Motorfest crashes or performs poorly, use the general technical troubleshooting route instead of treating every failure as a network problem.
Crashes and low FPS
Ubisoft’s Motorfest PC support listing includes a technical troubleshooting entry updated September 11, 2023. Its summary sends problems running the game, including low frames per second and crashes, to the general troubleshooting guide. The listing also provides a dedicated bug-reporting tool. “Stuttering” is a useful description of uneven frame pacing, but the support summary does not establish that every stutter is a low-FPS issue or confirm a single current stuttering bug.
A careful troubleshooting workflow
The following workflow is a way to organize evidence and low-risk checks. It is not presented as a verbatim Ubisoft repair sequence, and no step guarantees a fix.
- Classify the symptom. Decide whether the failure is launch, in-game crash, low FPS, stutter, or online disconnection. Record the exact wording and code.
- Record the environment. Write down platform, storefront, game version if shown, operating-system version, hardware tier on PC, controller or other peripheral, and the date the issue began.
- Check the hard requirements. Confirm that the permanent internet connection is available for play and, on PC, that BattlEye has not been removed. Compare PC hardware with the table above.
- Separate repeatable from intermittent behavior. Reproduce the problem in the same activity, then in a different activity or menu. A crash only during one event is different evidence from a crash at every launch.
- Run a controlled performance test. On PC, record resolution, preset and observed FPS. Temporarily lower resolution or preset and compare the same scene. Improvement points to rendering load as a factor; no change means the symptom should not automatically be blamed on graphics quality.
- Test connection symptoms independently. Note whether the game fails at sign-in, while joining a session, or after you are already driving. Record whether the message appears once or repeatedly and whether other online features are reachable. Do not infer a router, DNS, port, or account cause without evidence.
- Use the matching official guide. Apply the current connectivity guide for online failures and the general technical guide for crashes or performance complaints. The support pages are the authoritative place for platform-specific steps and changing service requirements.
- Escalate with a complete report. If the issue remains, contact Ubisoft Support for connectivity troubleshooting as directed. For a repeatable crash or performance defect, use the bug-reporting option shown in the PC support listing and include your reproduction steps, error text, system details, and timing.
How to investigate crashes without guessing
Launch crashes
A launch failure should be checked against prerequisites before graphics tuning. Confirm the correct platform version is installed, the required online connection is available, and BattlEye remains installed on PC. Capture whether the launcher itself opens, whether a splash screen appears, and the exact point at which the process closes. If the message names a missing component or service, quote it exactly in your support case rather than paraphrasing it as “crash.”
Crashes during play
Record the activity, location, approximate time in the session, and whether the crash happens every time. Test once in a different activity only to establish whether the trigger is broad or context-specific; this is a diagnostic comparison, not evidence that one activity is defective. Include any update, driver, operating-system, or peripheral change that preceded the first occurrence.
After an update or system change
Write down the last date on which the game worked normally and the first date on which it failed. Distinguish a game patch from a Windows update, graphics-driver installation, controller change, or network-equipment change. Correlation is useful for support, but it does not prove that the latest change caused the fault. A report that says “it started after the October 10 update” is stronger than one that only says “it crashes randomly.”
What not to conclude
A crash does not by itself prove that the GPU is underpowered, the network is at fault, or a particular update introduced a bug. The available official material publishes no crash-rate statistics and names no single confirmed cause. Keep those possibilities separate until your evidence or Ubisoft Support identifies one.

How to distinguish low FPS from stuttering
Low FPS
Low FPS is sustained slow rendering. Compare the observed frame rate with Ubisoft’s stated target for your PC tier: 30 FPS at 1080p Low for Minimum, 60 FPS at 1080p High for Recommended, 60 FPS at 1440p High for High, and 60 FPS at 2160p Ultra for Ultra. These are target conditions, not a guarantee for every scene.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Stuttering
Stuttering is uneven delivery of frames: the average FPS can look acceptable while individual frames arrive late. Describe its timing—when entering a new area, during traffic, in menus, or during online events—and whether it is a single hitch or a repeating pattern. A controlled change in resolution or preset can show whether rendering load affects it, but the result does not identify the underlying fault.
Useful evidence for support
- Resolution, preset and display mode.
- Approximate average FPS and whether the hitch is visible at the same location each time.
- CPU, GPU, RAM and Windows details for PC.
- Whether the issue occurs in menus as well as during online play.
- Any exact error text, crash report, update date or system change.
Do not compare a 30-FPS Minimum target with a 60-FPS Recommended target as though they were the same promise. If a game is smooth at a lower preset but hitches at a higher one, report that controlled difference. If the hitch remains unchanged across presets, include that result instead of assuming that more graphics power will solve it.
Connection-error triage
Because Motorfest requires a permanent internet connection, an online-service failure can block play rather than merely disable an optional feature. First identify the stage: sign-in, loading into the world, matchmaking, or an active-session disconnect. A slow connection message is still a connectivity symptom even if the game eventually loads.
Use Ubisoft’s connectivity troubleshooting article for the current platform-specific procedure. If its steps do not resolve the issue, follow Ubisoft’s stated escalation route and contact support. Give support the error code, platform, region, time of occurrence, frequency, and whether the failure affects every session or only one. Avoid claiming that changing a particular router setting, DNS server, port, cable, or account option is an official fix unless the live guide explicitly says so.

Platform, storefront, and peripheral details matter
Motorfest is listed across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Steam. A remedy or menu path for one platform may not exist on another, so always identify the platform and storefront in a report. Steam and another PC storefront can also present different launch layers even when the game content is similar.

Ubisoft’s PC support listing includes a supported-peripherals entry updated October 8, 2026. Use that official entry to check controller compatibility when input devices are relevant. The available support material does not connect a particular controller to Motorfest crashes, stuttering, or connection errors, so do not label a peripheral as the cause without a reproducible comparison.
For a peripheral-related report, name the controller or wheel model, connection type, and whether the fault occurs with the device disconnected. That comparison can narrow the description for support, but it is not proof that the accessory is defective. Keep the original device connected only when testing the same reproducible scenario so your notes remain comparable.

- The connectivity guide’s steps are complete but online-service errors continue.
- The game will not launch and the error identifies BattlEye or another required component.
- A crash is repeatable and you can provide exact reproduction steps.
- Performance remains far below the relevant target despite hardware meeting or exceeding the listed tier.
- The problem began after a clearly identifiable update or system change and affects repeated sessions.
Send one concise report containing the platform and storefront, game and system versions when visible, hardware tier for PC, exact message or code, reproduction steps, frequency, and what changed before the issue began. That information lets support route the case without guessing.
Keep screenshots, short recordings, and timestamps with the report when possible. State what you tested and what happened, including tests that made no difference. Avoid combining several unrelated symptoms into one sentence; separate a launch crash, a low-FPS complaint, and a disconnect so each can be routed to the correct support topic.
What the published evidence does—and does not—show
Ubisoft provides official routes for connectivity trouble, crashes and low FPS, plus a bug-reporting tool on its PC support listing. Its Store page establishes the permanent-internet and BattlEye requirements and publishes PC performance tiers. The accessed material does not publish a universal fix, crash-rate or stuttering statistic, or a confirmed cause shared by all players. Treat community reports and isolated improvements as individual experiences, not as a guaranteed solution for every Motorfest installation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does The Crew Motorfest require an internet connection?
Yes. Ubisoft’s Store listing says a permanent internet connection is required to play, so connectivity is a basic requirement rather than an optional multiplayer feature.
What should I do if Motorfest will not launch on PC?
Record the exact message, check that the required internet connection is available, and confirm BattlEye has not been uninstalled. Then use Ubisoft’s general technical troubleshooting guide and include the launch stage and error text in a support report.

Is BattlEye required for Motorfest?
Yes. Ubisoft says BattlEye is installed automatically and required to play, and warns that the game will not launch if BattlEye has been uninstalled.
What PC hardware does Ubisoft recommend for 60 FPS?
The Recommended tier targets 1920×1080 at 60 FPS on High with an Intel Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 7 2700X, an RTX 2060 6 GB or Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB, and 8 GB dual-channel RAM. Higher tiers target 1440p/60 or 2160p/60.
Is stuttering the same as low FPS?
Not necessarily. Low FPS is consistently slow rendering, while stuttering is uneven frame delivery that can occur even when the average FPS looks high. Report where and how often the hitch occurs and whether a controlled preset change affects it.

Which Ubisoft guide covers connection errors?
Ubisoft’s “Troubleshooting connectivity issues in The Crew Motorfest” article covers online-service connection problems, including slow connection speed. Ubisoft says to contact support if the problem persists after completing that guide.
Can a controller cause Motorfest crashes or stutter?
The available Ubisoft material does not identify a particular controller as a cause. Check Ubisoft’s supported-peripherals entry when input devices are relevant and compare behavior with the device connected and disconnected before making that claim.
What information should I include in a bug report?
Include your platform and storefront, game and system versions when visible, exact error text or code, hardware details on PC, reproduction steps, frequency, timestamps, and any update, driver, operating-system, peripheral, or network change that preceded the issue.
The Bottom Line
Classify the symptom first, verify Motorfest’s permanent-internet and PC BattlEye requirements, and compare PC hardware with Ubisoft’s stated target tier. Use the current connectivity guide for online-service failures and the general technical guide or bug-reporting route for crashes and performance complaints. If the problem persists, give Ubisoft exact error text, timing, platform details, and repeatable steps rather than guessing at a universal cause.
