If a Street Fighter 6 DLC character is still locked after you bought a pass, do not buy the pass again. First prove that the signed-in platform account owns a pass containing that character, then verify that the add-on is installed for the same copy of the game. On PlayStation, also check the disc and account regions and restore licenses. On Steam, inspect the game’s DLC list. A character may also be unavailable because its scheduled release window has not arrived or because it unlocks somewhere other than character select.
What “not appearing” can mean
Several different problems produce the same locked-character screen. Identifying which one you have prevents an unnecessary repurchase.
- The pass does not include the character. A Character Pass is a defined bundle, not a license to every current and future fighter.
- The platform account does not own the entitlement. A different console profile or Steam account may have made the purchase.
- The add-on is owned but not installed. Store transaction history can show a purchase while the downloadable package remains unchecked or undownloaded.
- The character has not reached its release window. Passes can be sold before all included fighters are released.
- The game is looking in the wrong place. Some add-on content appears only after reaching a particular in-game location or checkpoint.
- The license is not being recognized. A platform cache, account mismatch, or incompatible disc region can prevent an otherwise valid entitlement from loading.
Use the checks below in order. Stop as soon as the evidence identifies the cause; each later step is intended for a different failure mode.

Step 1: verify that you bought the right entitlement
Check the purchaser’s transaction history
Sign in to the platform account that actually paid for or redeemed the content. Open its purchase or transaction history and record the exact product name. “Street Fighter 6” by itself proves ownership of the base game, not a character add-on. You need an entry for the relevant Character Pass, Ultimate Pass, individual character, or another product that explicitly contains the fighter.

If the purchase was made as a gift, through a code, or on a family member’s profile, the receiving or purchasing account may be different from the profile you normally use to play. A console can share some games between profiles, but entitlement ownership and downloadable-content rules still depend on the platform. Test the account shown in the transaction record before changing anything else.
Match the character to the pass contents
Read the current Capcom product description rather than relying on a video, preorder announcement, or an old list. Capcom’s June 29, 2026 announcement says the Year 1 through Year 4 Character Passes and Ultimate Passes are available. Character Passes include four additional characters, Outfit 1 Colors 3–10, and Drive Tickets. Ultimate Passes include the Character Pass content, Outfit 2 and Outfit 3 costumes, and additional Drive Tickets. Year 1 and Year 2 passes also include stages. A separate copy of the Street Fighter 6 base game is required.
Those bundle descriptions do not mean that every fighter is available on the day you buy the pass. Check the named character list and the release status for the specific year. Capcom’s 2026 listing gives the following Year 4 windows:

Release windows are changeable. Treat the table as the schedule stated in Capcom’s 2026 listing, not as a guarantee that a character is live at the moment you read this. The Capcom Town Store listing dated August 3, 2026 describes a sequential Year 4 character-unlock sequence, so a pass can be valid while a later fighter remains unavailable.
Step 2: confirm the base game and account relationship
Make sure the base game is installed on the same platform
Capcom states that a separate copy of the Street Fighter 6 base game is required to use the passes. A pass purchased without the base game is not a standalone game license and cannot unlock characters in another title, a trial build, or a different platform. Confirm that the installed game is the platform version associated with the purchase.
Check the account that owns the DLC
On a console with multiple profiles, sign out or switch to the profile shown in the transaction history and inspect the game there. On PC, verify the Steam account used to buy or redeem the DLC. Do not infer ownership from the fact that another profile can launch the base game.

CAPCOM ID linking is documented for online-related features. The cited Capcom manual does not state that linking a CAPCOM ID grants paid character DLC, so linking or relinking that ID is not a substitute for proving platform ownership. If the platform account owns the pass, leave account-link changes until after the installation and license checks.
Step 3: install and refresh the add-on on PlayStation
PlayStation’s official missing-add-on guidance provides a concrete sequence. Menu wording can vary slightly by system software, but the relevant path is the game library’s add-on area.
- Open the library. Go to Game Library > Your collection, select Street Fighter 6, and open Add-Ons.
- Find the purchased item. Look for the Character Pass, Ultimate Pass, or individual add-on that matches the transaction record. If it is shown as available to download, start the download and wait for it to complete.
- Check the installed state. A store purchase alone does not prove that the package is installed. Return to the add-on list and confirm that the item is downloaded or installed for the selected game.
- Start the game with the owning profile. Launch the base game while signed in to the account that purchased or redeemed the pass. If the console uses several profiles, do not use a different profile for this test.
- Check the expected location in the game. Some content is available only at a particular in-game location or after a checkpoint. Do not assume every add-on appears immediately in the character-select screen.
- Restart the console and game. Close the game completely, restart the PlayStation, and launch it again after the add-on finishes installing. This forces the game to re-read the package instead of relying on a stale session.
- Restore licenses if it is still missing. PlayStation lists restoring licenses as a useful step when a game or add-on cannot be located. Run the platform’s Restore Licenses command, then restart the game and check the add-on again.
Do not delete the base game as a first response. Reinstalling a large game does not correct a wrong account, an unreleased character, or an incompatible disc region, and it adds download time before the cause is established.

Step 4: check PlayStation disc and account regions
Region compatibility matters when the base game is on a physical disc. PlayStation warns that an add-on can be incompatible when the disc’s licensed region does not match the country or region of the PlayStation account. For example, a disc imported from one market may not accept an add-on purchased through a store account registered in another market.
- Identify the licensed region printed on the disc packaging or associated product information.
- Check the country or region assigned to the PlayStation account that bought the DLC.
- Compare the two values before buying another pass or code.
If they do not match, restoring licenses or reinstalling the same add-on is unlikely to make that disc accept the content. The practical fix is to use a compatible game edition and account region, or ask PlayStation support what options exist for that purchase. Do not create a new account or repurchase content until support confirms how the entitlement can be used; digital purchases and account regions can have restrictions.

Steam separates ownership from installation, so check both. Use the account that purchased or redeemed the pass.

- Open the Steam client and go to your library.
- Right-click Street Fighter 6 and choose Properties.
- Open the DLC section. Review the listed add-ons and confirm that the purchased pass or character is present and selected for installation.
- Alternatively, use the game’s DLC section on the library page to review owned content and its installation status.
- If an owned item is unchecked or pending, enable it and allow Steam to download it completely.
- Close and relaunch the game after the download. Confirm that the game is running under the same Steam account shown in the purchase history.
If the DLC section does not list the pass at all, Steam is not currently exposing that entitlement to the account or installation. Recheck the transaction account, the exact product name, and the base-game edition before troubleshooting the in-game menu. The documented checks establish Steam procedures for ownership and installation; they do not establish a special Street Fighter 6 repair command beyond the normal DLC controls.
Step 6: distinguish a release delay from a broken install
A pass can display a character slot or advertise a lineup before every fighter is playable. Use Capcom’s current listing to determine whether the missing character’s release window has started. The Year 4 sequence announced for 2026–2027 is especially important: a pass can be correctly purchased and installed while Tifa or Bosch remains locked because their listed windows are Early 2027 and Spring 2027.
When an earlier fighter works but a later one does not, compare the two release windows before changing licenses. When no fighters from the pass work, return to the entitlement and installation checks. When the character is selectable in one mode but not another, look for the location or checkpoint where the content is intended to appear rather than assuming the license failed.

- Do not repurchase immediately. A second transaction does not repair an installed license, account mismatch, region conflict, or unreleased character.
- Do not treat a CAPCOM ID link as proof of DLC ownership. The documented purpose is online-related account functionality, not a paid-character entitlement grant.
- Do not assume a store receipt means installation. Verify the add-on in PlayStation’s Add-Ons area or Steam’s DLC settings.
- Do not use another game’s menu instructions. Platform paths differ, and a generic cache-clearing step may not apply to this title.
- Do not presume every add-on appears in character select. Check the in-game location and progression requirement specified for the content.
- Do not infer Xbox or Epic Games steps from PlayStation or Steam. The documented guidance here does not establish exact Street Fighter 6 menu paths for those platforms.
When to contact support
Escalate only after the platform account shows the correct purchase, the pass includes the character, the base game is installed, and the add-on is installed for that same account. At that point, collect evidence so support can inspect the entitlement instead of sending generic troubleshooting steps.
- The platform transaction ID, purchase date, and exact pass or add-on name
- The platform account identifier, without sharing your password or payment details publicly
- A screenshot of the platform’s ownership or installed-DLC screen
- A screenshot or short video showing the locked or missing character in Street Fighter 6
- The game edition, platform, and whether the base game is physical or digital
- For PlayStation disc copies, the disc region and the account country/region
- The steps already completed, including a restart and, on PlayStation, license restoration
PlayStation’s support guidance specifically asks for purchase details and evidence when escalating a missing add-on. Contact PlayStation for a platform transaction, download, account, or license problem; contact Capcom for a title-specific entitlement issue after the platform confirms the DLC is owned and installed.
Platform coverage and limits
The concrete procedures above cover PlayStation and Steam. Xbox and Epic Games are not given click-by-click paths here because the available official material does not establish Street Fighter 6-specific menu steps for those platforms. The same diagnostic logic still applies—verify the purchaser account, pass contents, release status, base game, installation, and expected in-game location—but use the platform’s current official support instructions for the exact menus.
