First identify the product. “Shadow Collection” is not a unique product name. The authoritative match is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection, a 2013 compilation for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. If your copy is a different game, a PC service, or another “Shadow” release, these instructions do not apply.
For the Castlevania collection, the disc and the downloadable content were separate parts of the launch package. Konami described the packaged compilation as including Castlevania: Lords of Shadow on disc, while Mirror of Fate HD, a Lords of Shadow 2 demo, and the Reverie and Resurrection add-ons were supplied through voucher code(s). That distinction determines whether you have a disc-recognition problem, a download problem, or a code-eligibility problem.
What “Shadow Collection” most likely means
Konami lists Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The European product page gives 8 November 2013 as the release date; Konami’s North and South America announcement is dated 5 November 2013. The launch announcement listed a suggested retail price of $39.99 in 2013. That price is historical and does not establish current stock, resale value, or code availability.

Because the sources establish the original release format but not a current troubleshooting procedure, no single “Shadow Collection error” fix can be applied safely. The console, region, installation method, code status, and exact on-screen error are required before a diagnosis is credible.
Collect the facts before changing anything
Write down these details exactly. Do not paraphrase the error; a single word can distinguish a damaged disc from a rejected code or an unavailable service.
- Product name: the title printed on the case and disc, including whether it says Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection.
- Console: PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.
- Region: the country or market printed on the packaging and the country assigned to the console account.
- Source of the failing item: the physical disc, a voucher download, or a combination of both.
- Exact message: copy the complete text and any displayed error number.
- Code condition: present and unread, already redeemed, missing, scratched, or of unknown status.
- When it fails: when the disc is inserted, during installation, when a download begins, or when the content is started after installation.
This information prevents a common mistake: treating a voucher failure as though the disc installation were broken, or treating a region/account rejection as a storage error.
Use the correct troubleshooting branch
Branch 1: The main disc is not recognised
The principal game was supplied as part of the physical package. A voucher is not required merely to establish whether the disc itself is recognised. If the console does not identify the disc, record the exact behaviour: no response, an unreadable-disc message, a prompt to install, or an installation that stops at a particular point.

- Confirm that the disc and console are both for the expected platform. A PlayStation 3 disc cannot be used in an Xbox 360, and the reverse is also true.
- Check the case, disc label, and regional markings. Do not assume that a similarly named Castlevania disc is the collection edition.
- Inspect the disc for visible damage or contamination and handle it according to the console manufacturer’s care instructions. This is a diagnostic check, not a guarantee that a damaged disc can be recovered.
- Try the console’s normal disc-reading and storage diagnostics documented for that platform. Menu names and available tests differ between PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so use the instructions for your own console rather than a guide for the other system.
- Capture the result and the complete message before repeating the installation. Repeated attempts do not establish whether the failure is the disc, the drive, storage, or the console account.
The available Konami product information does not identify a collection-specific disc-installation error, required free-space figure, repair utility, or guaranteed recovery sequence. If the same disc fails after the console’s documented checks, support will need the edition, region, disc condition, and exact error.
Branch 2: A voucher item will not download
Voucher content is a different problem from installing the packaged game. The code may have been used, may belong to another region, may be unreadable, or may no longer be accepted by the relevant service. The fact that Konami supplied a code at launch does not prove that a particular code remains unused or redeemable today.
- Separate the requested item from the main game. Identify whether you are trying to obtain Mirror of Fate HD, the Lords of Shadow 2 demo, Reverie, or Resurrection.
- Locate the original voucher and transcribe its characters carefully. Do not publish the code in a support request or public forum.
- Check the printed market or region against the console account’s region. A code issued for one market may not be accepted by an account registered in another.
- Determine whether the code is unused, previously redeemed, or of unknown status. A used code cannot normally be treated as a fresh entitlement, and an unknown-status code cannot be validated from the packaging alone.
- Record the exact redemption response, including any error number. “Invalid,” “already used,” “not available,” and a network interruption are different categories and require different support questions.
- Use the platform holder’s current account and redemption support for the console in question. The official collection announcements do not provide a current voucher-recovery process.
Do not buy a used copy on the assumption that its voucher is still valid. Current code validity and availability are not established by the 2013 announcement, and a retailer listing cannot by itself prove that a code is unused.
Branch 3: The code appears to work, but the content is not visible
First determine whether the console reported a successful redemption or merely accepted the characters before failing later. Keep the confirmation screen, transaction record, or account history if one exists. Then note whether the problem is an absent download, a download that stops, or content that installs but is not available in the game.

Do not delete the main game or repeatedly redeem the code while investigating. The collection’s launch documentation does not state how entitlements are restored on a legacy account, which menu exposes the content, or whether the original network service still offers every item. Those are platform- and account-specific questions for current support.

The two editions share the release structure described above, but their account systems, error wording, and support procedures are not interchangeable. Never follow an Xbox 360 redemption instruction for a PlayStation 3 account, or the reverse.
Error-to-information triage
Use the symptom to decide what to document next, rather than guessing at a fix.

Region, account, and code-status pitfalls
Region mismatch
There are several regions to compare: the market printed on the game package, the market associated with the voucher, and the country configured for the console account. A disc can be physically present while a voucher is rejected because the account market differs. Record all three instead of describing the problem simply as “the code does not work.”
Used or unknown voucher
A second-hand package may contain a code that was redeemed years ago, removed from the case, or damaged. Packaging that shows a voucher was included in 2013 is not evidence of present entitlement. Ask the seller for the code’s status before purchase when possible, but treat any promise as unverified until the platform account accepts it.
Legacy-service uncertainty
The collection was announced in 2013. The available product pages do not establish which legacy download or account services are currently operating, whether every voucher item remains hosted, or what recovery options exist for an old entitlement. A current platform-support response is therefore more authoritative than an archived launch description for service-availability questions.

- the exact title and edition;
- PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360;
- country printed on the package and country of the account;
- whether the failure involves the disc or a named voucher item;
- the complete on-screen wording and error number;
- whether the code is unused, redeemed, missing, damaged, or unknown;
- what the console did immediately before the failure; and
- any confirmation that the console’s own documented disc, storage, or network checks completed.
Keep the receipt, package photographs, disc identification, and voucher proof private unless an official support agent requests them through a secure channel. Never post an unused code publicly.
When a listing is not a safe replacement
If the disc is missing or defective, a replacement listing should identify the exact console edition and region. Ask whether the physical disc is included and whether the voucher is present, but do not treat “code included” as “code valid.” Current stock, pricing, and affiliate availability are not established by Konami’s launch materials. The historical $39.99 suggested retail price should not be used to judge a present-day offer.
The practical conclusion
There is no evidence-based universal fix for a “Shadow Collection” installation error because the name is ambiguous and the official release information does not publish a troubleshooting flow. Confirm that the product is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection, identify the PS3 or Xbox 360 edition, separate disc installation from voucher redemption, verify the region and code status, and preserve the exact error text. Only then can the platform holder, Konami support, or a seller determine whether the issue is a damaged disc, an account or region mismatch, a previously used code, or a legacy-service limitation.
