If your Vivo X500 Pro Max feels hot, stop demanding work, unplug it if it is charging, move it out of sunlight, remove any heat-trapping cover, and let it cool in an open, ventilated place. Then reduce game and display load, close unusually active background apps with Vivo’s built-in tools, and check that you are using the supplied charger and cable. Warmth by itself does not prove a battery or processor defect. Repeated temperature warnings, shutdowns, or unusual heat during light use are reasons to contact Vivo support for your country.

Start with this 10-minute cooling procedure

Use the following order because it removes the most common heat sources without changing anything irreversible.

  1. Stop the workload. Pause a game, livestream, video recording, navigation session, hotspot, or other sustained task. If the phone is charging, unplug it.
  2. Move the phone to a cooler environment. Get it out of direct sunlight, a hot car, a windowsill, or any enclosed space. Place it on a hard, dry surface where air can circulate.
  3. Leave it uncovered. Remove an insulating case temporarily and do not put the phone under bedding, inside a bag, or against a soft surface that traps heat.
  4. Lower the load when you resume. Reduce brightness, refresh rate or frame rate, resolution, graphics effects, and image quality as appropriate for the task. A balanced or power-saving game mode is preferable to the highest-performance setting when heat is a problem.
  5. Check background activity. Open Vivo’s iManager, use the phone-cooling function if it is present, and run its one-tap cleanup. Check the battery or power-consumption screen for an app that remains unusually active.
  6. Review charging equipment. For the next charge, use the charger and cable supplied with the phone, keep the handset uncovered, and avoid using it while it charges.

Do not put the phone in a refrigerator or freezer. Rapid condensation can damage electronics, and extreme cold is not a safe cooling method. Do not press an ice pack or another chilled object against the handset either.

Is some warmth normal?

Yes. Vivo says heat can come from electronic components operating, high ambient temperature, power-hungry applications, and high-current charging. The phone sheds heat through its body, so a warm room, direct sun, a thick case, or a soft surface can make ordinary operating warmth feel more intense. A demanding task that stops producing heat after you pause it is different from a phone that becomes hot during light use.

  • Linear damping telescopic clip: easy to adjust, pay attention! Suitable for all types of mobile phones with a width of "6 to 7.5 centimeters". NEVEIKIA mobile phone cooling can cool down when connected to a power source.(Attention: It is best to remove the phone case when using it for a better experience!)
  • Quick cooling: Dual engine, cooling principle is the same as a refrigerator, not ordinary fan cooling. It can cool your phone in "3 to 5 seconds", avoiding overheating and ensuring a stable live streaming or gaming experience.
  • Dual power supply design: supports powering the radiator through a mobile phone, and can also be connected to an external power source for use; When connected to an external power source, it can provide stable power to both the radiator and the phone, avoiding interruption of heat dissipation due to insufficient power during long-term use and ensuring continuous and stable heat dissipation performance.
  • Silent engine cooling: The fan with dual silent design can effectively dissipate air from all directions, providing stronger cooling effect without interfering with your games or Vlog programs.
  • Expanded cooling area: Approximately 2.82x1.29 inches of extreme thermal conductivity cooling area, covering the CPU and battery module, protecting your phone from blackening or sudden shutdown.

There is no X500 Pro Max-specific surface-temperature cutoff in the official guidance used for this article. Do not diagnose a battery or processor fault by touch alone, and do not treat a single warm charging session as proof of a defect. Record what the phone was doing, remove the obvious heat sources, and watch whether it cools naturally.

What the X500 Pro Max specifications tell you

Vivo China’s product page lists a September 2026 launch, the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro processor, an 8,000 mAh typical-capacity battery and a 7,800 mAh rated capacity. It lists maximum supported charging outputs of 90 W wired and 40 W wireless. Those are China-page specifications and maximum capabilities, not a promise that the phone will draw those figures continuously. The page says wired charging power adjusts dynamically according to conditions and safety controls. A model sold in another country can have different specifications, accessories, software labels, or charging behavior; verify the specification page for your own region.

Specification or behavior What is established How to interpret it for heat
Battery 8,000 mAh typical; 7,800 mAh rated, according to Vivo China’s 2026 product page A large battery does not eliminate heat from charging or heavy use.
Wired charging Up to 90 W maximum supported output on the China page Fast, high-current charging can produce warmth; actual power varies with conditions and safeguards.
Wireless charging Up to 40 W wireless flash charging support on the China page Wireless energy conversion can also create heat, especially with poor alignment or a warm environment.
Processor MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro Games, recording, video calls, display work, and network activity can make the processor and surrounding components warm.
Interface behavior Vivo says some interface elements can become static previews during overheating, low battery, large games, or video calls This is a protective or performance-related behavior description, not proof of a defective unit.

The 90 W and 40 W numbers should not be used as a shopping instruction. A charger with a higher wattage label is not automatically suitable for this phone, and a replacement charger is not a remedy for normal warmth.

Why a phone can feel hot

Vivo’s general overheating guidance identifies four broad sources: electronic components operating, a high external temperature, power-hungry applications, and high-current charging. The phone releases heat through its body. When the surrounding air is already hot or the handset is covered, that heat leaves more slowly and the surface feels warmer.

Several activities can overlap. A game may keep the processor, display, speaker, and Wi-Fi radio busy at the same time. A livestream or video call keeps the screen on while the camera, processor, speaker, and network remain active. Fast charging adds electrical-conversion heat, and foreground use while charging adds workload heat. Therefore, the same temperature sensation can have different causes depending on what the phone was doing.

Vivo describes intelligent temperature control and high-temperature protection. If an interface element changes into a static preview during overheating, low battery, a large game, or a video call, treat that as a behavior description rather than a diagnosis. An informal phrase such as “Dimensity 9600 Pro thermal issues” reflects reader concern, not a confirmed failure rate, benchmark, or defect in every X500 Pro Max.

Fix heat while charging

Some warmth during charging is expected because electrical energy is being converted and stored. Vivo notes that fast charging can generate more heat and that activity in the foreground adds to it. Use this procedure:

  2. Use the supplied charger and cable where possible. Vivo warns that incompatible non-original accessories may not maintain a stable charging current.
  3. Charge on an uncovered, ventilated surface. Do not charge under a pillow, inside a case that insulates the back, or in direct sun.
  4. If the phone becomes noticeably hotter than usual, unplug it and let it cool naturally before trying again.
  5. Check whether the heat appears only at high charge rates or also during ordinary light use. That distinction helps support staff diagnose the situation.

Wireless charging is not automatically cooler: energy conversion can still produce warmth. Keep the phone and charging area ventilated and follow the regional instructions supplied with the device. The official page’s maximum figures do not establish that every session should operate at those outputs.

Reduce heat during gaming

Sustained gaming is one of the heaviest combinations of processor, display, speaker, and Wi-Fi activity. Charging while playing adds another heat source.

  1. Do not play while the phone is charging.
  2. In the game’s graphics menu, lower resolution, frame rate, image quality, shadows, effects, or other performance options until the workload is comfortable.
  3. Use a balanced or power-saving mode if the game or Vivo’s gaming tools offer one. Reserve the highest-performance mode for short sessions when temperatures remain acceptable.
  4. Close background apps before starting a long session. Use iManager’s cooling or one-tap-cleanup function if available on your software build.
  5. For gaming heat, Vivo also recommends disabling WLAN network assistance or data acceleration where that option exists. The exact label and location can differ by software version and region.
  6. Play in a ventilated room and remove a thick, insulating case temporarily. Keep vents, ports, and the rear surface unobstructed.

A clip-on cooling fan can be optional assistance for sustained gaming, but it is not a diagnosis or a guaranteed fix. Check that any accessory is actually designed to attach to your exact phone and does not block cameras, buttons, wireless charging, or ports. When comparing coolers, check verified attachment or fit, contact or airflow design, power source, noise, and whether the cooler interferes with the case. No specific cooler has been verified here as Vivo-approved or guaranteed to fit.

Reduce heat during video, livestreaming, and calls

Video and livestreaming combine a long-on display with processor, camera, speaker, and Wi-Fi or mobile-data activity. Vivo says mobile data can make heat more noticeable. Apply these changes:

  • Lower screen brightness and, when practical, refresh rate or video quality.
  • Use a stable, well-ventilated location rather than direct sun or a hot vehicle.
  • Keep the system and video app current. If heat started after an app update, install any newer update or compare behavior with the app closed; do not assume the update proves a hardware fault.
  • Pause the session if the phone displays a temperature warning. Allow it to cool before restarting the camera or stream.
  • Avoid charging during a long recording or call unless necessary; if you must charge, keep the phone uncovered and stop other demanding work.

Use Vivo’s software tools to find background heat

Menu names change between Funtouch OS or regional builds, so the wording on your X500 Pro Max may not exactly match these labels.

  1. Open iManager.
  2. Choose the phone-cooling, device-cooling, or similarly named tool, if available, and allow it to identify active processes.
  3. Run One-tap cleanup or the equivalent cleanup command.
  4. Open the battery, power-consumption, or app-usage view and look for an app that remains active despite not being used.
  5. Close or update the suspicious app. If the same app repeatedly causes heat, uninstall it temporarily or contact that app’s developer rather than installing an unverified “temperature booster” or thermal override.

These tools can reduce background activity; they cannot repair a damaged battery or bypass the phone’s safety controls. If iManager is not present, use the battery or app-usage pages available in your regional software instead of downloading an unverified utility.

Check the case, surroundings, and handling

Vivo recommends a thin, breathable case and advises avoiding covers that impede heat dissipation. A case that feels comfortable during light use can still retain heat during a game or fast charge. Remove it temporarily when testing whether the case is contributing.

Distinguish an expected warm period from a support case

Observed pattern Reasonable next action
Warmth during fast charging, a demanding game, video capture, or a long call, then cooling after the task stops Reduce workload, improve ventilation, avoid use while charging, and monitor the pattern.
Heat in direct sun, a hot car, or under an insulating cover Move the phone to a cooler, uncovered location and remove the heat source.
Heat after an app remains active in the background Use iManager and the battery view, then close or update the app.
Repeated high-temperature warnings or automatic shutdowns Stop using demanding features and contact Vivo support or an authorized service center in your country.
Unusual heat during light use after the basic checks above Arrange regional support; do not diagnose a battery or processor failure from sensation alone.

The official material reviewed for this guide does not establish an X500 Pro Max-specific temperature cutoff, a confirmed widespread overheating defect, or a model-specific repair procedure. Support staff may need your region, software version, charging accessory, recent apps, and the circumstances in which the warning appears.

When to contact Vivo support

Contact Vivo support or an authorized service center for your country if the phone repeatedly reports a high temperature, shuts down because of heat, or becomes unusually hot during light use after you have removed environmental and workload causes. Vivo’s global support resources provide routes to service centers and system updates, while the company’s guidance includes self-check and cooling functions through iManager and the Vivo app.

Before contacting support, record the useful facts: whether the phone was charging, the charger and cable used, the app or game running, whether mobile data or Wi-Fi was active, the ambient conditions, whether a case was fitted, and what happened after the phone cooled. Do not continue stressing the device to reproduce a warning, and do not try to override thermal protection with an unverified application.

Will lowering brightness really help?

Reducing brightness, refresh or frame rate, resolution, graphics effects, and video quality reduces workload for the display and related components. Use the changes that suit the task rather than forcing the highest setting.

Do I need a phone cooler?

No. A clip-on fan is optional assistance for sustained gaming, secondary to ventilation, lower settings, and avoiding charging during play. Verify exact fit and ensure it does not block cameras, ports, buttons, or wireless charging.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What if iManager is missing?

Regional software versions can use different names or omit a tool. Check the available battery or app-usage screens, keep software current, and do not install an unverified app that claims to override thermal protection.

Can an app update be responsible?

Compare behavior after updating the app and the system or after closing the app. A timing coincidence does not prove hardware damage or that the update caused the heat.

What should I do after a temperature warning?

Stop the demanding task, unplug the phone if necessary, move it to a ventilated place, and let it cool naturally. If warnings recur, seek Vivo support rather than repeatedly testing the limit.
