“No Session Available” usually means ARK cannot discover or reach the other server in your cluster. Start with the player-side filter: in the server interface, enable Show Password Protected if the clustered servers use a password. If that does not restore the map, an administrator should verify that every server uses the same -clusterid, the same shared -ClusterDirOverride directory, running server processes, and reachable firewall and router ports.
The message is a connection or cluster-discovery symptom, not proof that a computer component has failed. Work through the checks below in order, then use a direct IP-and-port connection to separate a browser-list problem from a server configuration problem.

At an Obelisk or supply drop, ARK builds the Travel to Another ARK list from servers that belong to the same unofficial Cross-ARK cluster. A missing map can therefore result from several different layers: the client may be hiding password-protected servers, the servers may have different cluster identifiers, their cluster storage may not be shared, a managed host may not have completed provisioning, an instance may be stopped, or a firewall or router may block traffic.
There is no single fix that applies to every ARK release or hosting arrangement. Treat the message as a diagnosis sequence: first rule out a harmless display filter, then test the cluster settings and storage, and finally test network reachability.

Try these player-side fixes first

Show password-protected servers
Open the ARK server interface and look at the lower-left filter area. Turn on Show Password Protected. Pingperfect’s error guidance identifies this as the first check when clustered servers do not appear at an Obelisk and the servers have a password. Reopen the Obelisk list after changing the filter. If the destination appears immediately, no server-file change was needed; the client was simply filtering it out.

Confirm that you are using the intended character and cluster
Check the session name and map shown in the server browser before assuming the destination has vanished. A similarly named server can belong to a different cluster, while a correctly configured destination may be hidden only by the password filter. Ask the administrator for the exact session name and map so you do not test an unrelated instance.

Try a direct connection
If the browser or Obelisk list remains incomplete, connect to the destination without relying on discovery. In ARK’s console, enter:
open IP:PORTFor a password-protected server, enter:
open IP:PORT passwordReplace
IP,PORT, andpasswordwith the connection details supplied by the administrator. A successful direct connection proves that the instance is reachable even if the in-game list is not displaying it. It does not, by itself, prove that cluster transfers or shared storage are configured correctly. -
Add the server to Steam’s Favorites
In Steam, open View → Game Servers → Favorites and add the server using its query information. This gives you another way to test whether the server responds independently of ARK’s in-game listing. Keep the favorite entry updated if the administrator changes the query port or address.
Verify the cluster settings on every server
These checks require administrator access to the launch commands or hosting control panel. Perform them on every map in the cluster; one mismatched instance is enough to break discovery or transfers. Compare the complete startup line rather than relying on a server name that merely looks correct.

Use one distinctive -clusterid
Unofficial Cross-ARK travel requires at least two servers launched with the same -clusterid. The ARK Official Community Wiki states that terminals list servers with the same identifier and that servers with different identifiers are not allowed to see each other.
Compare the value character for character, including capitalization and punctuation. A trailing space, a changed hyphen, or a different case can create a different identifier. Do not use a generic identifier shared by unrelated servers: a reused value can place unrelated servers in the same transfer list. Choose a distinctive cluster name and apply it consistently to every map.
After correcting an identifier, restart all affected instances so each process loads the same setting. Test only after both are fully online; comparing a running map with an old process can make a corrected configuration appear broken.
Point every server to one shared cluster directory
Each server also needs the same -ClusterDirOverride path. This directory contains the cluster files used for uploaded survivors, items, and tames. If servers use different paths, they may appear in a transfer list while downloads or cross-map transfers fail because each instance is reading a different storage location.

The path must resolve to the same underlying storage for all instances. On a self-hosted setup, that normally means a shared folder or storage mount visible to every server process. Check permissions as well as the text of the path: a directory that exists but cannot be read or written by the service account is not functioning as shared storage. On a managed host, use the provider’s designated cluster path rather than inventing a second location.
Do not confuse the ordinary per-map save directory with the cluster directory. The map save contains that server’s world state; the cluster directory is where cross-server upload data is exchanged. Both can be present, but only the latter must be common to all maps.

Compare complete launch commands
A two-map configuration can look like this:
ShooterGameServer TheIsland?SessionName=MySession1 -clusterid=<CLUSTER_NAME> -ClusterDirOverride="<PATH>"
ShooterGameServer ScorchedEarth_P?SessionName=MySession2 -clusterid=<CLUSTER_NAME> -ClusterDirOverride="<PATH>"The map and session name can differ. The -clusterid and -ClusterDirOverride values must not. Keep the variable syntax shown above only as a template; substitute the same real cluster name and shared path in both commands. If a control panel splits command-line fields, verify that it has not silently dropped a dash, quotation mark, or path component.
Check whether a managed host finished provisioning
Managed clusters can fail before a player ever reaches the Obelisk. Pingperfect’s documented setup sequence requires two servers in the same location, a support request to enable clustering, several provider-controlled reboots, and both instances started after provisioning.

- Verify that the provider has received and completed the cluster request.
- Allow the required reboot cycle to finish; do not test while one instance is still being reprovisioned.
- Start both servers and confirm that each process remains online.
- Leave the provider-managed cluster save location unchanged. Pingperfect specifically warns not to edit the cluster save location or cluster file path in its custom command-line manager.
If one map is stopped, still rebooting, or writing to a path different from the managed cluster path, the other map may not appear or may show an empty transfer list. Capture the time of the last reboot and the status of each instance before opening a support ticket; that lets the host distinguish incomplete provisioning from a client-listing issue.
Check firewall, router, and port assignments
Self-hosted operators must allow incoming traffic to the host. Official dedicated-server setup guidance calls for firewall rules and router port forwarding that expose the required server services. If multiple instances share one machine, each instance needs distinct game, peer, and query ports; assign an RCON port as well when RCON is enabled.
- Permit the game-server executable through the host firewall for the required protocol and ports.
- Forward each server’s game, peer, and query ports from the router to the correct internal host.
- Do not point two maps at the same port; a collision can leave one process unreachable even when both appear started.
- If RCON is used, give it its own forwarded port and keep it separate from the game and query services.
- After changing rules, restart the affected server process and test from a network outside the host’s local LAN when possible.
Write down a port map showing each server, its internal address, game port, peer port, query port, and optional RCON port. This prevents a common mistake in which the router forwards every external port to the first map while the second map is listening elsewhere. Also check that the address given to players is the public address or hostname, not an internal address that works only from the host’s LAN.
A direct open IP:PORT attempt is useful here. If direct connection fails while the process appears online, inspect the host firewall, router forwarding, listening ports, and the IP address supplied to players. If direct connection succeeds but the Obelisk remains empty, return to the password filter and cluster-ID checks instead of repeatedly changing network rules.

Understand the difference between discovery and transfer failures
Two symptoms can look similar but point to different settings:

This distinction protects existing saves. A listing problem calls for filters and identity checks; a transfer problem calls for storage validation; an unreachable process calls for service and network checks. Changing all three layers at once makes it impossible to tell which change solved the issue and can introduce new configuration errors.
Use transfers carefully while testing
At an Obelisk or supply drop, Travel to Another ARK is the normal clustered-transfer route. The manual upload/download workflow is an alternative, but it carries a serious inventory risk documented in the provider guidance.
Uploading your player character, logging out, joining another server, and downloading the character data can destroy the inventory carried by that character. Before using a manual fallback, remove anything you cannot replace, take screenshots of important settings, and confirm that the target server is writing to the same cluster directory. Do not treat a successful server connection as proof that transfer storage is correct.
For a first test after repairs, use a disposable item or an empty character inventory rather than a valuable survivor loadout. Verify that the destination sees the upload before attempting a full move. If the transfer list is empty, stop and recheck the shared directory instead of repeating uploads.

The underlying requirements do not change with the hosting model: matching cluster identity, shared cluster storage, running instances, and reachable network services. The difference is who can change each layer. A managed provider may need to apply the path or cluster flag, while a self-hosted administrator can inspect and correct it directly.

Common mistakes that prolong the outage
- Changing only the session name: A prettier or more recognizable name does not join servers to a cluster. The identifier and shared directory still have to match.
- Using a shared identifier from another community: This can expose unrelated destinations in the transfer list and risks sending data to the wrong cluster.
- Editing a managed path: A custom path can bypass the provider’s permissions or mount. Restore the provider-designated location and ask support to confirm it.
- Testing while one server is offline: A correct command line cannot make a stopped process appear. Wait until both processes remain online after restart.
- Opening only the game port: Query and peer services also matter for listing and communication. Give each instance distinct assignments and forward them to the correct host.
- Assuming visibility proves transfer safety: Servers can list each other while reading different cluster directories. Test storage with a small, expendable transfer.
A complete verification order for administrators
- Write down the intended map names, session names, connection IPs, and ports.
- On every server, compare the exact
-clusteridvalue. - Compare the full
-ClusterDirOverridepath and confirm that it resolves to shared storage. - Check that no managed provider path was edited and that no server uses a private fallback directory.
- Confirm both server processes are running and remain running after restart.
- Review game, peer, query, and optional RCON port assignments for collisions.
- Verify host-firewall permissions and router forwarding to the correct machine.
- Ask a player to enable Show Password Protected and refresh the Obelisk list.
- Test each map with
open IP:PORT, adding the password when required. - Only after direct connections work, test Travel to Another ARK and a small, expendable transfer.
Keep a copy of the known-good command lines and port map. If a later update or host migration recreates an instance, these records make it possible to compare settings instead of guessing. Do not publish passwords in support tickets or public chat; provide the connection details through the host’s private support channel.
When to contact the host or server administrator
Escalate with concrete evidence rather than only the text of the error. Include the two map names, whether Show Password Protected was enabled, the exact cluster-ID comparison result, whether direct connection succeeded, and which instance and port failed. For a managed host, ask whether clustering was provisioned in the same location, whether the reboot sequence completed, and whether the provider-managed cluster path is intact. For a self-hosted administrator, provide the launch commands, listening-port assignments, and firewall or forwarding results without posting passwords publicly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does ARK say “No Session Available” when my other map is online?
The destination may be hidden by the password filter, using a different -clusterid, reading a different cluster directory, or blocked by firewall, router, or port settings. Enable Show Password Protected first, then test a direct open IP:PORT connection.
What must match between ARK cluster servers?
Every server needs the same -clusterid and the same underlying -ClusterDirOverride storage path. Map names and session names may differ, but the cluster identity and shared transfer storage cannot.
Can I join an ARK server directly if it is missing from the list?

Visibility does not guarantee shared storage. Compare the complete -ClusterDirOverride value and confirm that both processes can read and write the same directory. Separate paths can produce a visible server with an empty or unusable transfer list.
What should I check with a managed ARK host?
Confirm that both servers are in the same supported location, the clustering request was completed, the provider’s reboot sequence finished, and both instances are running. Do not edit the provider-managed cluster save or file path.
Is manual character upload a safe workaround?
It is a fallback, not a risk-free repair. Uploading a character, logging out, joining another server, and downloading the character data can destroy the carried inventory. Remove irreplaceable items and use a small, expendable test first.
