Start with Settings > Picture (or the equivalent menu on your model) and open Motion Enhancement. Compare Film, Clear, Smooth and Off while replaying the same moving scene. If your TV offers Custom, adjust Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction independently, one small step at a time. There is no setting that is best for every Hisense model, source or viewer.
Motion blur and judder are different problems. Blur makes a moving object leave a soft trail; judder makes motion, especially a camera pan, appear uneven or jumpy. A setting that reduces one can make the other more noticeable, so the reliable method is to identify the symptom, test a fixed scene and keep the combination that looks best to you.
What motion blur and judder look like
Motion processing cannot create detail that was never captured in the original video. It can change how successive frames are displayed, which may reduce visible trails or make movement appear more continuous. The right adjustment depends on the source frame rate, the picture mode and the TV model.
Motion blur
Blur appears as softness, smearing or a trail behind a football, a fast camera move or a scrolling title. Fine detail seems to dissolve while the object is moving and returns when it stops. Hisense describes Motion Enhancement as a control intended to reduce afterimages from fast-moving objects. It is not available in every mode or on every model.

Judder
Judder is uneven cadence: a pan may move, pause slightly, then move again even though the camera speed is constant. It is most obvious on film-like material and other content whose frame rate does not divide evenly into the display timing. Judder is not the same as a weak signal, a damaged panel or ordinary motion blur.
Why the two controls are separate
Some Hisense manuals provide separate Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction controls. The distinction lets you target trails without automatically applying the same amount of cadence processing. Hisense also warns in its guidance that reducing judder can introduce blur in some circumstances. Treat the controls as a balance, not as two sliders that should always be turned up.
Before changing anything, isolate the symptom
Do a short comparison before adjusting settings. This prevents you from “fixing” a source problem with an aggressive picture mode and gives you a known scene for every later test.

- Choose one repeatable scene. Use a sports play, a slow camera pan, a news ticker or a film scene with a person crossing the frame. Pause and replay the same few seconds rather than judging from unrelated scenes.
- Record the source. Note whether the problem occurs in a built-in streaming app, live television, a game console, a set-top box or another HDMI device.
- Check more than one source. If an app is smooth but one HDMI device judders, the source or its output timing may be involved. If every source behaves the same way, concentrate on the TV’s picture settings and model documentation.
- Watch for processing artifacts. Halos around moving objects, bending edges, disappearing details or a video-like “soap-opera” appearance indicate that motion processing is doing more than simply removing trails.
This test is diagnostic guidance, not a promise that a particular source will use a particular frame rate. Content providers, broadcasts and devices can all differ.

Menu names and locations vary by model, country or region, picture mode and the content being watched. On the 50U6G1 manual, the documented route is:

Look for Motion Enhancement or a similarly named motion option inside the Picture or Advanced Settings area. A different Hisense model may place the item directly under Picture, use a different heading, or omit it in a particular mode. If you cannot find it, search the exact model’s e-manual rather than assuming the feature is missing from all Hisense televisions.

Use the TV’s own controls
Open the settings with the television remote while the troublesome source is playing. Some menus close or disable certain options when the input changes, HDR is active, a game mode is selected or an app controls playback. If an option is unavailable, note the picture mode and input before looking up the model-specific instructions.
Compare the available motion presets
Hisense’s general guidance identifies Film, Clear and Smooth as possible Motion Enhancement choices. Your model may show fewer choices, include Off, or use different labels. The table describes what to look for during a controlled comparison; it does not assign a guaranteed result to any preset.

Change only the preset, leave the scene running, and watch the same movement for several seconds. Keep notes if two choices are close; memory is unreliable when you switch rapidly between different scenes.
Tune Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction separately
If Custom is available, start from a neutral or low setting and make one adjustment at a time. Hisense’s 65U8G manual states: “If you select Custom, you can configure Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction manually.” The same type of separate control appears in manuals for several other models, but not necessarily every Hisense 4K TV.

- Set Motion Enhancement to Custom. Do not change other picture controls during this test.
- Adjust Blur Reduction first. Raise it one increment, replay the moving object and check whether the trail is shorter. Stop when additional processing no longer helps or begins to create halos, double edges or lost detail.
- Return to the same starting point, then adjust Judder Reduction. Raise it one increment while watching the camera pan or scrolling text. Look for steadier spacing between movements rather than simply a more artificial appearance.
- Recheck both controls together. A combination that looks good on a sports clip may look poor on a film scene. Keep the lowest processing level that solves the problem you actually see.
- Test normal viewing. Watch several minutes of your usual content, including a scene with faces and fine detail. Motion settings can look acceptable in a test clip but produce artifacts elsewhere.
There are no manufacturer-supported universal slider numbers in the cited manuals. A value that works on one panel, region or source is not a reliable recommendation for another.

Choose settings for the content you watch
Sports and fast action
Start by checking whether Blur Reduction removes trails from players or a ball. If the picture becomes unnaturally smeared around edges, reduce the setting. Judder Reduction may help with a wide camera pan, but do not assume that maximum processing is best; compare the spacing and stability of movement as well as sharpness.
Films and scripted television
Film-like material often makes cadence changes easy to see. Film or a restrained Custom setting may preserve the intended look better than Smooth. If faces, sets or camera edges warp during movement, back down the processing even if the pan initially appears more fluid.
News tickers and scrolling text
Use a ticker as a repeatable test for uneven motion, but do not judge only by text. A setting that makes a ticker glide can introduce artifacts around a person’s hands or hair. Check a second scene before keeping it.
Video games
Game modes can change which picture controls are available and can add processing delay when motion interpolation is enabled. If the controls disappear in Game mode, use the model manual to determine what that mode permits rather than forcing a different mode without considering responsiveness.
Understand refresh rate without confusing it with Motion Rate
Hisense’s refresh-rate guidance uses 60 Hz and 120 Hz as explanatory examples and notes that a 120 Hz television may display 60-frames-per-second material using generated frames. That example explains why Motion Enhancement can alter perceived movement; it is not a measurement of every broadcast, app or input.
Do not treat a marketing label such as “Motion Rate” as proof of the panel’s native refresh rate. For a specific television, use the model specification or manual to determine the actual display capability. A higher native refresh rate also does not recreate detail that was absent from the captured video, and interpolation is not automatically beneficial for every program.

When a change makes the picture worse
More blur after reducing judder
This is a known trade-off in some processing combinations. Lower Judder Reduction, then reassess Blur Reduction separately. If neither combination is acceptable, compare Film or Off and decide whether the source’s native cadence is preferable to added blur.

A soap-opera or hyper-smooth look
Switch from Smooth to Film, Clear or Off, or select Custom and reduce Judder Reduction. The goal is not the largest amount of generated motion; it is movement that looks natural to you without visible processing artifacts.
Halos, bending edges or double images
Reduce Blur Reduction first. These artifacts usually become easier to see as processing increases. Check the same object against a plain background so that you are judging the TV’s processing rather than a complex scene.
Only one app or device looks bad
Compare the built-in app, live television and another HDMI input. If the issue follows one source, inspect that device’s output and picture settings and consult its documentation. The Hisense manuals do not establish a universal source fault or prescribe a cable replacement for this symptom.

This resets the current picture settings on that model. Other Hisense televisions may use a different path or reset scope. A reset can remove your preferred brightness, contrast, color and input-specific choices, so note those values first if they matter to you. After resetting, reproduce the original scene and change only the motion controls.

Why your menu may not match these steps
- Model generation: Hisense e-manuals for different platforms expose different labels and menu trees.
- Country or region: Manuals state that functions can be unavailable in some regions.
- Picture mode: Game, HDR, filmmaker-oriented and other modes may restrict processing choices.
- Content: Options can depend on what the TV is displaying; the 9603GTV e-manual specifically notes model, region and content variation.
- Software state: A firmware update or reset can change menu organization without changing the panel hardware.
Use the model number printed on the TV, its original documentation or the system information screen when searching for an e-manual. A menu path from a U6G1, U8G or U75H manual is an example, not a universal instruction for every 4K set.
Troubleshoot a setting that is missing or ineffective
Motion Enhancement is not listed
- Confirm that you are in the Picture settings for the active input.
- Try a standard picture mode rather than a mode that limits processing.
- Check whether the model manual lists Motion Enhancement under Advanced Settings or another heading.
- Verify the exact country/region model designation; similarly named televisions can have different software.
If the manual does not list the feature, do not assume a hidden numeric control exists. Hisense documents that some functions are unavailable on some models.
Every preset looks the same
Use a scene with obvious lateral movement and compare Off with Smooth or Custom for at least several seconds. Some content has little motion, and some apps change frame cadence dynamically. If the controls are visibly selectable but produce no difference across multiple sources, record the model, input and software version before contacting official support.
Judder remains at every setting
First determine whether the uneven movement belongs to one source. Then reset the picture settings and repeat the comparison. If the behavior persists across built-in apps, live TV and external inputs after a reset, consult the exact model’s support documentation. The cited manuals do not diagnose a universal hardware failure, so avoid opening the television or buying parts based only on a motion complaint.
Blur remains even with processing enabled
Check whether the blur is actually source compression, focus in the original camera shot or normal sample-and-hold behavior rather than a setting error. Compare a high-quality local or built-in source with the original problem source. If all sources show the same severe artifact and the manual’s controls have no effect, provide support with the model number, software version, input and a short description of the repeatable scene.
A repeatable five-minute setup
- Play the same moving scene from the source that bothers you most.
- Open the Picture menu and locate Motion Enhancement.
- Compare Off, Film, Clear and Smooth if those choices exist.
- Select Custom when available, then change Blur Reduction by one step and return to the scene.
- Change Judder Reduction by one step and watch a pan or ticker.
- Check for trails, uneven cadence, halos, edge warping and an unwanted video-like appearance.
- Repeat the winning combination on a second type of content.
- Use the model-specific Picture Reset option if the result is worse or confusing.
- Save the setting only after testing the sources and programs you normally watch.
When to contact Hisense support
Contact official support or consult the exact e-manual when the relevant menu is absent, the documented reset path is different, or severe motion artifacts remain across multiple sources after a reset. Include the complete model designation, region, software version, input type, picture mode and the scene that reproduces the problem. Those details let support distinguish a feature limitation from a source-specific issue without guessing at a repair.
The Bottom Line
Use Motion Enhancement as a controlled comparison, not a universal cure: identify blur or judder, tune the two controls separately when Custom is available, and rely on the exact model manual for menus and reset instructions.
