If your Samsung phone says “Mobile network not available,” it cannot currently connect to your carrier, but the message does not identify the cause. A SIM that the phone does not recognize, incomplete activation, carrier settings, or a temporary software error can all be involved. Check whether the SIM is recognized first, then work through the steps below before deciding whether to contact your carrier or request phone service.
1. Check whether the phone recognizes your SIM
On your Galaxy phone, open Settings > About phone > Status information > SIM card status. Look for the carrier name beside Network. If it is missing, the phone may not be recognizing the SIM correctly.
Samsung notes that menu names and screen layouts can vary by model and software version, so use Settings search for “SIM card status” if the path differs on your phone. A missing carrier name is a useful clue, not a diagnosis: the SIM, activation, settings, or device may still need checking.

Contact your carrier if the phone or SIM is new, you recently moved the SIM to another device, or you are setting up an eSIM. Ask the carrier to verify that the line and SIM are active and whether a SIM-protection setting is preventing activation on this device. Samsung says some carriers’ SIM protection services can block activation on a new device.

For an eSIM being activated during the phone’s initial setup, Samsung advises contacting the carrier. An incomplete setup or carrier-side restriction cannot be resolved by inspecting a physical SIM tray. Only the carrier can confirm your line’s activation status, account settings, or whether service is affected in your area.
3. Reset mobile network settings
If the carrier name appears or you have already checked activation, reset the phone’s mobile network configuration. Samsung says incorrect mobile network settings may prevent the SIM from connecting properly to the carrier.

- Open Settings > General management > Reset > Reset mobile network settings.
- Review the on-screen notice and confirm the reset if you want to proceed.
- Restart the phone and check whether mobile service returns.
This reset removes saved mobile network configuration and reconnects using default settings. It is targeted at mobile network settings; read the phone’s notice before confirming so you understand the effect on your device.
4. Reseat a physical SIM, if your phone uses one
Skip this section if your phone uses only an eSIM. For a physical SIM, restart the phone before handling the tray, then follow the phone’s usual shutdown procedure if needed. Use the eject pin straight into the tray’s release hole; do not bend or force the tray.

- Remove the tray and check that the SIM is seated in the correct position.
- If the contacts appear dirty, wipe them gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid touching the metal contacts.
- Reinsert the card and tray fully without forcing either one. If the tray gets wet, let it dry completely before putting it back.
If you have access to another active SIM, trying it may help distinguish a SIM-related problem from a phone-related one, but the result is not a guaranteed diagnosis. Contact your carrier about a replacement SIM if yours appears damaged or continues not to work.
5. Run a diagnostic or arrange service
If available on your Galaxy phone, open Samsung Members > Support > Get started > SIM to run the SIM diagnostic. Samsung says this diagnostic is available only on Galaxy devices with Samsung Members installed.

If the carrier confirms that the SIM is working and active but it still cannot connect in this phone, Samsung’s guidance is to request device service. For a SIM replacement or questions about activation, contact the carrier.

The same unavailable-network message can appear when the SIM is not recognized, mobile network settings are incorrect, or a temporary software error interferes with the connection. Activation and SIM-protection settings are separate carrier-side possibilities. Samsung’s support guidance does not establish that a particular software update causes this message, and the message alone does not confirm an outage, account suspension, or a device fault.
