If Hellraiser: Revival crashes, stutters, or runs at a low frame rate on PC, first compare your computer with the game’s published minimum requirements. Then troubleshoot the symptom: a GPU-related crash calls for driver, error, and resource checks, while low FPS or stuttering calls for checking hardware headroom and the available graphics controls. There is no confirmed game-specific setting or performance fix established here, so treat the steps below as a way to narrow down the cause—not a guaranteed cure.
Start by checking the PC requirements
Before changing settings or buying hardware, write down your Windows version, processor, graphics card and its VRAM, system memory, free storage, and whether the game is installed on an SSD. Also note your display resolution and the exact symptom: does the game close to the desktop, freeze, show an error, or merely run unevenly? Comparing these details with the published requirements helps distinguish a possible hardware shortfall from a problem that needs further diagnosis.
| Component | Official minimum | AMD-listed recommended configuration |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows 10, version 22H2 or later | Not stated on AMD’s game page |
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or Intel Core i5-8400 | AMD Ryzen 5 5600X |
| Graphics card | AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 | AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT |
| System memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Available storage | 80 GB | Not stated on AMD’s game page |
| Drive type | SSD recommended | Not stated on AMD’s game page |
The minimum specifications come from Saber Interactive’s official support FAQ. AMD’s recommended list is a separate hardware reference, not a promise of a particular frame rate or graphics quality. A requirement is also not a guarantee that every system meeting it will be free of crashes or stutter: the actual result can depend on the whole system and the conditions in which the game is running.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCompare the exact components, not just the brand
Check the full model names. A computer with an AMD processor does not automatically meet the listed processor requirement, and a graphics card from the same manufacturer as one in the table is not necessarily equivalent. Compare your CPU and GPU models individually. For a GPU, also check the model’s VRAM; the minimum AMD card is specified as an 8GB model. If a component is below the listed minimum, that is a meaningful shortfall to investigate, but it does not prove that it is the cause of every crash or frame-rate problem.

On Windows, you can see basic system details in Settings > System > About. To check the graphics adapter, open Task Manager, select Performance, and choose the GPU entry. For more complete model and memory details, use the information utility provided by your graphics-card manufacturer. Compare the result with the game’s listed requirements rather than relying on a broad label such as “gaming PC.”
Check storage separately
The game requires 80 GB of available space and recommends an SSD. Confirm that the drive containing the installation has enough free capacity, not merely that another drive in the PC has space. The SSD recommendation is a storage specification; it is not evidence that replacing a drive will fix a GPU crash or raise a particular game’s FPS. If your PC is below the minimum in several areas, identify which shortfall matters before considering an upgrade.
Collect details before changing anything
A short record makes it easier to tell whether a change helped and gives support a useful report if the problem continues. Note when the issue occurs—for example, at startup, while loading, after playing for a while, or during a repeatable action—and whether it happens every time. Record the exact error text or code rather than paraphrasing it. If there is no message, say so.
- CPU and GPU model, GPU VRAM, and installed system RAM.
- Windows edition and version, plus available space and drive type for the installation drive.
- Display resolution and the graphics options currently selected in the game.
- Whether the game closes, freezes, stutters, or remains open at a low frame rate.
- The time or action that triggers the problem and any exact error message.
- Other demanding applications running at the same time, and whether the issue changes when they are closed.
Change one thing at a time and retry the same scenario. If you change the driver, resolution, several graphics settings, and background applications all at once, you will not know which change affected the result. Do not assume a crash has been fixed because the game happened to run longer once; repeat the same steps and record whether the behavior is reproducible.
If the game crashes or closes
1. Identify whether the error points to the GPU
Read the complete message and note when the crash occurs. An error mentioning a GPU, graphics device, or a removed device is a useful clue, but it does not by itself identify the cause. Epic’s Unreal Engine 5.8 GPU-crash documentation describes several possible contributors to GPU crashes in Unreal Engine applications, including driver problems, other applications, heat, and video-memory pressure. That guidance is general engine troubleshooting; it does not confirm that any one of those problems is present in Hellraiser: Revival.

If the error includes a code or the game produces a log, preserve the exact wording and the relevant file or details requested by official support. Error codes and logs can help distinguish a GPU-related failure from another kind of crash. Avoid deleting logs before you have noted where the crash happened and what message appeared.
2. Check the graphics driver with its manufacturer
Find the driver for the exact GPU model on the GPU manufacturer’s official support or driver page. Check whether a current driver is available, follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions, and then retry the same reproducible scenario. A current driver is a sensible general diagnostic check, not a confirmed Hellraiser-specific fix. If the problem started immediately after a driver change, include that timing in your notes rather than assuming the newest version is necessarily the answer.
Do not download a driver from an unfamiliar third-party site or use a driver utility that asks you to make unrelated system changes. Keep a record of the driver version installed before and after troubleshooting so you can report what changed.
3. Reduce competing GPU and memory load
Close applications that are using substantial GPU or video memory, then test the game again. Examples may include another 3D application, a video editor, or a GPU-intensive game; the relevant question is what is actually running on your PC, not whether an application appears on a generic list. Epic’s documentation identifies other applications and exhausted VRAM as possible factors in GPU crashes. This is a diagnostic test, not proof that background software caused your issue.
If the game remains open but the graphics card’s memory is close to full, try lowering the display resolution or available graphics options and see whether the same workload becomes more stable. This can reduce memory pressure in some circumstances, but the sources do not establish a particular setting or value as a fix for this title. If lowering settings has no effect on a crash, restore the previous options before moving on so that the test remains interpretable.

4. Check for a heat-related pattern
Note whether the problem appears only after the PC has been under load for some time, whether fans or temperatures behave unusually, and whether other demanding applications also fail. Those observations can help identify a broader system issue. Do not treat a single warm reading or a noisy fan as proof of overheating; the symptoms and measurements need to be considered together. If temperatures appear abnormal, stop repeatedly stressing the PC and consult the computer or component manufacturer’s guidance for safe cooling checks.

If the crash persists, use the game’s official support channel and provide the system details and exact error you recorded. Include the driver version, the point at which the crash occurs, whether closing other GPU-heavy apps changed anything, and the steps needed to reproduce it. A report with those specifics is more actionable than “the game crashes.” Do not make registry changes to Windows GPU timeout values as a routine fix. Epic discusses timeout debugging as advanced work and cautions about registry changes; it is not a standard player troubleshooting step.
If the game stutters or FPS is low
Separate consistently low FPS from intermittent stutter
Low FPS that persists throughout play and brief stutters are different symptoms. Note whether the frame rate is low all the time or drops only at certain moments, such as loading or a repeatable in-game scene. Record the resolution and the current graphics options, then repeat the same scene after any single change. Without a controlled comparison, a momentary improvement may simply reflect a different workload.
First compare your CPU, GPU, and RAM with the official minimums. If one or more components fall short, that is a stronger reason to investigate hardware limits than to start editing configuration files. If your system meets the minimum, that still does not establish that a game bug is responsible: the official specifications do not provide a guaranteed FPS, nor do they set out a game-specific troubleshooting preset.
Use only the settings the game actually exposes
Open the game’s graphics or display menu and note the options available on your installation. If the menu offers a lower resolution or reduced graphics settings, test one adjustment at a time using the same scene. The available controls and their labels can vary by version, so do not follow instructions that assume a specific setting is present when it is not visible in your menu.

AMD promotes FSR for this title. Treat it as an available technology only if an FSR option is visible in your game’s settings. The AMD page does not give a measured FPS improvement or a troubleshooting recipe, so there is no supported gain to promise. If you test it, compare the same scene at the same resolution and other settings, and judge the result on your own PC.
Check background activity and available memory
Close applications you do not need for the test, especially other GPU-intensive programs, and check whether the symptom changes. If system memory or GPU memory is under pressure, reducing the workload may help reveal whether resource contention is involved. Epic’s guidance specifically identifies other applications and VRAM exhaustion as possible GPU-crash factors and suggests closing memory-heavy apps or reducing resolution when memory pressure is high. It is general Unreal Engine advice, not evidence that memory pressure is the cause of this game’s stutter.
If you have plenty of free storage and the game is already on an SSD, replacing or adding storage is not an evidence-based first response to low FPS. The published requirement recommends an SSD but does not identify it as a cure for stuttering. Similarly, do not install an upgrade solely because a component differs from the AMD recommended configuration: first establish the exact gap between your hardware and the official minimum, then consider whether that component plausibly limits your workload.
Avoid unverified tweaks
No confirmed Hellraiser-specific optimal preset, shader-cache procedure, configuration edit, launch command, or FPS guarantee is established by the available official game information. Avoid copying configuration values or command-line switches from unrelated games or generic Unreal Engine posts. Such changes can make diagnosis harder, and an unverified tweak may have no effect or introduce another problem.
What the available patch information does—and does not—say
Saber Interactive’s official support FAQ gives Hellraiser: Revival a release date of October 8, 2026. In the same FAQ, Saber says it expects to release some patches to address issues discovered after launch and has no plans for future DLC or content updates. That is a statement of expectation, not confirmation that a particular crash, stutter, or low-FPS problem has been fixed. The FAQ does not establish a specific performance patch or a date for one.

Before relying on a supposed fix, check official game announcements or support information for a note that matches your issue and the version you are running. A mention of a patch in general is not enough to conclude that it addresses your symptom. The official Steam Community news search also surfaced a demo note about movement or input softlocks, but that is not evidence of a performance fix; it should not be treated as one.
When a hardware upgrade is the next step
Consider an upgrade only after comparing your current components against the published minimum and identifying the shortfall. If the CPU or GPU is below minimum, assess that part first; if the system meets the minimum but falls below AMD’s separate recommended configuration, that comparison can inform expectations, but it still does not predict an exact frame rate. Check compatibility with your motherboard, power supply, case, and other components before buying anything.
The storage figures answer a different question from graphics performance: the game lists 80 GB available and recommends an SSD. An SSD may be relevant if your installation drive does not meet the recommendation, but neither Saber’s requirements nor AMD’s page establish that upgrading storage will resolve a graphics-device crash or guarantee smoother frame delivery. Avoid upgrading multiple parts at once if you want to know which limitation mattered.
Questions players commonly ask
Does meeting the minimum requirement guarantee that the game will not crash?
No. The minimum specifications identify the published baseline, not a guarantee that every qualifying PC will run without problems. They also do not identify the cause of an individual crash.
Is FSR guaranteed to improve my FPS?
No measured gain is provided in the available AMD information. If the game exposes an FSR option, test it on your own system rather than assuming a particular improvement.
Has Saber confirmed a patch that fixes these performance problems?
The official FAQ says Saber expects to release some patches for issues discovered after launch. It does not confirm a specific performance fix or that your issue has been addressed.
Should I edit the Windows registry to stop a GPU crash?
No. Changing GPU timeout values is advanced troubleshooting, not a routine player fix. Record the error and contact official support rather than making registry edits based on generic advice.
