Genus Insight can stop or appear inconsistent for several different reasons, and the documented behavior does not point to one universal fix. First identify what is happening: auto-analysis may stop because it met a condition you selected, the expected Soul Crystal may be ineligible under your settings, or progression may reflect another character on your server. Use the checks below to distinguish those cases from a likely feature problem.
First, identify what “not working” means
Before changing anything, pin down the exact symptom. “Genus Insight not working” could mean the screen is missing, analysis cannot be started, auto-analysis stops early, a crystal is not being consumed, the result is not what you expected, a notification appears, or progress differs between characters. Those symptoms do not share a single documented cause, so the useful first step is to name what failed rather than apply a generic fix.
- Auto-analysis stopped: check its selected slots, options, minimum grade, Insight-level change, and available currency.
- The expected Soul Crystal was not used: check the Soul Crystal-use setting and whether the crystal is usable on every genus or restricted to a specific genus.
- Progress differs across characters: check whether the characters are on the same server and whether shared progression explains the value.
- A message appears at maximum level: separate the notification from whether analysis or Insight itself is functioning.

Keep the distinction between manual analysis and auto-analysis in view throughout troubleshooting. A setting or stop condition described for auto-analysis does not automatically explain why a manual action cannot start. Likewise, seeing a result you dislike is not the same as the system failing to produce a result. Record whether the feature is unavailable, stops at a particular point, uses an unexpected resource, or simply produces an outcome below your expectation.
The detailed auto-analysis behavior below comes from translated Korean patch notes dated August 12 and August 26, 2026, hosted by an unofficial fan project. Their exact applicability to a different regional client or version is not established, so compare them with the settings and behavior shown in your own client. Why auto-analysis may stop normally

Check the result against the conditions you configured
- Review the selectable slots, options, and minimum grade chosen for auto-analysis. Check each one separately instead of relying on memory of the setup.
- Compare those conditions with the result on which analysis stopped. If the result matches the configured conditions, that is consistent with the documented stop condition.
- If the result does not appear to match, verify the values in the client and note what you expected to happen. A screenshot or written record of the settings and result can make the discrepancy easier to explain.
- Check whether you are judging the result against the minimum grade and selected options you actually configured, rather than a different target you intended to set.
A minimum grade or selected option can make the stopping result look unexpected if the configured threshold differs from what you intended. Confirm each condition independently; do not assume that the feature is supposed to continue until it produces a result you personally prefer. The patch notes establish that a matching result is a stop condition, but do not spell out a universal menu path or how every regional client labels each control.

Check whether Insight level rose
The same August 12 notes list an increase in Insight level as a reason auto-analysis stops. If the level changed during the run, that stop is consistent with the documented behavior even if the selected result conditions were not met. In this case, the relevant comparison is the Insight level before and after the run, not just whether the last result matched your chosen slot, option, or grade.
For a run that appears to have ended “too soon,” check the level change first, then compare the final result with your criteria. These are separate checks because either a matching result or a level increase can explain a stop. The notes do not indicate that a level increase is an error, nor do they establish that auto-analysis should resume automatically after the level changes.
Check the required currency
Auto-analysis also stops when the required currency runs out. A third-party guide published in October 2026 describes analysis as rerolling unlocked lines with Soul Crystals and Kina, but that is secondary information; regional rules and client behavior should be checked in-game. The August 12 patch-note summary establishes the currency-exhaustion stop condition, but does not provide a complete cost schedule or confirm that every region uses identical rules.

As a result, there is no supported universal amount to budget per run or fixed price to quote here. Check the currency requirement shown by your own client and compare it with what remains when analysis stops. Do not assume that a particular number of crystals or Kina is required based on an older guide, a different regional client, or another player’s account. The documented point is narrower: if the required currency runs out, auto-analysis can stop.
It is also useful to separate two questions: whether the run ended because it lacked a required resource, and whether it consumed the type of Soul Crystal you expected. The first is the general currency-exhaustion stop condition. The second is affected by the Soul Crystal-use setting described in the August 26 notes, covered below.
If auto-analysis is not using the Soul Crystal you expect
Translated Korean patch notes dated August 26, 2026, document a Soul Crystal-use setting. When checked, auto-analysis can use crystals usable on every genus; when unchecked, it uses only crystals restricted to a specific genus. If an expected crystal is not being consumed, inspect this setting before concluding that crystal use is broken. The notes do not establish a precise menu path or confirm that the control has the same label in every regional client. They also say the help tooltip was clarified about the stop condition. If your client’s wording differs, use the in-game tooltip and settings as the authority for your version rather than assuming the translated wording is identical. In particular, do not infer from the setting that it forces use of every crystal in your inventory or overrides other conditions; the August 26 notes describe which of the two crystal categories auto-analysis may use.
If the crystal setting seems correct but the run still stops, return to the other checks: matching configured conditions, Insight level rising, or required currency running out. A resource-use mismatch and an early stop may occur together, but the available patch-note details do not establish one as the cause of the other. Record the precise symptom—no crystal consumed, a different crystal category consumed, or the entire run stopping—so the issue can be described clearly.
If progression looks different between your characters
NCsoft announced on January 7, 2026, that Genus Insight progress would be shared across characters on the same server based on the highest value reached. The announcement also described server-wide aggregation of pet levels. This can explain why a character’s displayed progression differs from a per-character expectation; it does not, on its own, indicate a broken feature.
Check whether the characters are on the same server and compare the displayed progress with the highest value reached there. The announcement supports shared progression within a server, not an assumption that progress is shared across different servers. It also does not explain every detail of how each client displays that shared value. If you expected each character to keep an independent lower value, that expectation may not fit the announced server-wide rule.

This is a different diagnostic path from auto-analysis. Shared progression can explain why the displayed value on one character reflects progress made elsewhere on the same server, but it does not explain a missing Genus Insight screen, a manual analysis action that cannot start, or a crystal-use issue. Compare the characters’ server first; do not use the shared-progression announcement to explain symptoms it does not address.

A translated update note dated July 29 records a fix for an experience-gain message that could appear when Pet Genus Insight increased while its level was already at maximum. That is a specific notification issue. It is not evidence that analysis itself was failing, nor does it establish that the same issue exists in every region or current client version.
If you see a similar message, note whether the underlying Insight value or analysis behavior is actually affected. A notification alone and an inability to analyze are different symptoms. The documented fix applies to the described message issue in the July 29 update note; it does not confirm the status of an equivalent issue in every regional client or later version. Check whether the concern is only a message appearing despite the maximum level, or whether progress and analysis are also failing.
This distinction matters because a message can look like evidence that experience is being applied incorrectly even when the feature itself is available.
