Work through the checks in this order: confirm that your exact Galaxy model is currently eligible, update Galaxy Enhance-X and the phone, restore photo permissions, restart and retry with a different image, then clear the app cache. Use Clear data or reinstall only after protecting anything the app stores locally. If the failure remains, give Samsung your model, Android/One UI version, app version, exact error, affected tool and whether every photo fails.
1. Confirm that your phone is supported and fully updated
A crash that happens before an image opens can be a compatibility or software-version problem rather than a damaged photograph. Start with the current Galaxy Store listing for your device, then update both the app and the phone before changing app data.
Check the live Galaxy Store listing for your exact model
- Open Galaxy Store and search for Galaxy Enhance-X.
- Open the listing while signed in on the affected phone. If the app is unavailable, the store is showing that the model or region is not eligible at that moment. If an Update button appears, install it.
- Compare the listing’s compatibility information with your phone’s exact model. Availability can differ by model and region, so the live listing is a better per-device check than an old phone list. Samsung’s current US support guidance says Galaxy Enhance-X is supported on phones running Android 14 with One UI 6.0 or higher (Samsung’s Gallery AI editing support page).
The Android and One UI requirement is a current baseline, not a guarantee that every model in every country can install every release. If your phone is below that software level, install the official phone update if one is offered; otherwise, the app may simply not be available for that device.
If Galaxy Store does not show the app
Do not assume that searching harder or downloading an APK will solve the problem. First verify the phone’s exact model and region in the store, then check for a system update. A listing that is unavailable can reflect eligibility rather than a temporary processing failure. If the app was preinstalled or previously available but has disappeared, record that fact for Samsung support instead of installing an unofficial copy.

Update the app and phone software
- In Galaxy Store, open Menu (or your account area), choose Updates, and install any Galaxy Enhance-X update. Labels vary by Galaxy Store version.
- Open Settings > Software update and choose Download and install. Apply an available update, restart when prompted, and test Enhance-X again.
Samsung’s general crash guidance recommends checking app versions and compatibility early; apps built for older Android releases can fail after a device changes software (Samsung’s app-crash troubleshooting guide). Keep the phone on a stable connection and with enough battery and storage to complete an update. If an update is offered for the phone but not the app, install the phone update first, restart, and check Galaxy Store again.
Do not use the 2023 launch list as a current compatibility guarantee
Samsung’s June 20, 2023 announcement named Galaxy S23, S22, S21 and S20 series phones, Note20, and several Z Fold and Z Flip models running One UI 5.1 or later (the original announcement). That was a launch snapshot. It does not establish today’s complete device list or override the newer Android 14/One UI 6.0 guidance and the live store check.
2. Restore Galaxy Enhance-X’s photo permissions
Android can remove permissions from apps that have not been used for a while. A missing photo permission can prevent Enhance-X from opening a picture or saving a result even though the app itself launches.

- Allow the photo or media permission that appears for your software version. On some versions this is labeled Photos and videos; on others, the permission screen may use different wording.
- Return to Enhance-X, select a photo, and attempt the same enhancement again.
Only grant permissions needed for selecting and working with your pictures. Menu names and permission categories differ by Galaxy model and Android/One UI version; Samsung documents permission checks as a general fix for apps that stop working after a period of non-use (Samsung support).
Check the permission at the moment of failure
If Enhance-X opens but closes when you tap an image, return to its Permissions page rather than assuming the first prompt was accepted. If the app can select a picture but cannot complete or save an edit, check the same page again and note exactly which action fails. A permission change is reversible, so test immediately after changing it before moving to a data reset.

3. Restart, then isolate whether the problem is the file or the app
Perform a clean retry
- Close Enhance-X and other unused running apps.
- Restart the phone using the normal power menu.
- After the phone finishes booting, open Enhance-X before launching a long list of other apps.
- Try the original picture once, then try a different ordinary photo from the Gallery.
Rebooting and reducing competing activity are standard Samsung performance and crash checks, not proof that a particular background app is known to break Enhance-X. If the app works after the restart, reopen your usual apps one at a time; that can reveal whether the failure returns only under a heavier workload.
Use the result of the comparison as a diagnostic branch

Compare one variable at a time
For a useful test, change only one factor between attempts. Keep the phone and app versions the same while comparing the original picture with another ordinary photo. Then, if possible, keep the image the same while trying a different enhancement tool. Finally, repeat after an update or permission change. This simple sequence tells you whether the scope is the image, one feature, or the application generally; it does not establish a hidden file-format rule.
Keep a short note while testing: the image used, the enhancement feature selected, and the exact point at which the app closes or displays an error. Include whether the failure occurs immediately, during processing, or while saving. This prevents a reset from erasing useful clues.
What is not established about image files
The official material available for this issue does not publish a Galaxy Enhance-X supported-format table, maximum image size, or guaranteed workaround for a particular camera, downloaded, edited or cloud-synced file. Do not assume that changing an extension, compressing every picture, or deleting metadata is an official fix. Use the different-photo comparison as an isolation test, not as proof of a hidden format rule.
4. Clear the cache before resetting the app
Clear cached files
- Open Settings > Apps > Galaxy Enhance-X > Storage.
- Tap Clear cache if the option is present.
- Return to the app and retry the same diagnostic photo.
Clearing cache removes temporary app files, not the app installation itself. The exact storage screen and button placement can vary with One UI version. If the button is unavailable, continue with the other checks rather than using a third-party cleaner.

Understand the risk of Clear data
If cache clearing changes nothing, the same Storage screen may offer Clear data. This resets the app’s local state. Samsung warns that clearing an app’s data removes data stored by that app and can sign you out (Samsung’s app-crash guide).

- Expect preferences, local session information or other app-held state to be removed.
- Afterward, reopen Enhance-X, grant photo access again if requested, and test with an ordinary image.
Prepare before choosing Clear data
Write down the app version, error text and failing tool first. If the app has produced edits that exist only inside its local state, preserve them by exporting or saving them through the app when possible. Do not treat a reset as a test you can repeat without consequences: it may remove the very state that helps explain the crash.
Do not confuse Clear cache with Clear data: the latter is the destructive step. If you are unsure which control you selected, stop and verify the label before confirming.
Reinstall only through Galaxy Store
Reinstalling is another general Samsung option when an app remains broken after updates and a cache reset. First confirm that the current store listing still supports your model. Uninstall Galaxy Enhance-X, restart if the phone requests it, then install it again from Galaxy Store. Avoid unofficial APK sites as a routine repair: they can be incompatible with your model and make it harder to determine whether the official build works.
After reinstalling, grant only the requested photo permission, open the app, and repeat the same two-photo comparison. A reinstall does not prove that the original photo was defective. Test with the same comparison images and record the result so support can distinguish an installation problem from a file- or feature-specific failure.

5. Escalate with a useful diagnostic record
If Enhance-X still crashes or refuses to process images after the sequence above, contact Samsung support rather than repeatedly wiping the app. Samsung’s general guidance notes that a downloaded app may not be the cause when troubleshooting continues to fail; that statement is not a diagnosis of Enhance-X or evidence of a current outage.
Collect these details before contacting support
- Exact Galaxy model name and model number.
- Android version and One UI version, from Settings > About phone > Software information.
- Galaxy Enhance-X version shown in its Galaxy Store listing or app information screen.
- The exact error text, or a description of where the app closes.
- The enhancement tool you selected.
- Whether all photos fail or only particular files, and whether another ordinary photo worked.
- Which actions you already completed: updates, permission changes, restart, cache clearing, data reset or reinstall.
A screenshot of the error and a screen recording of the failed operation can help, but do not share private photos unless Samsung gives you a secure, appropriate method. Keep the original file unchanged so you can reproduce the failure if requested.
Describe the failure precisely
“It crashes” is less useful than a sequence such as: the app opens, the Gallery picker appears, one image is selected, the Remaster tool is tapped, and the app closes before a result is shown. State whether the same thing happens with a second ordinary photo and whether another tool completes. Include the date and time only if support asks for them; the essential information is the repeatable action and its scope.
What to expect from escalation
No dedicated official Enhance-X crash-fix article, current known-issues notice, incident confirmation, or model-specific diagnosis has been established here. Support may therefore need to determine whether the cause is the device build, app installation, permission state, one enhancement tool or one image. 6. Avoid common dead ends
- Do not buy a new phone as a first fix. Eligibility and software updates must be checked on the phone you already own; a purchase is not a documented remedy for this failure.
- Do not infer a universal crash rate. No published statistic establishes how often Enhance-X crashes or how likely any individual step is to work.
- Do not treat the 2023 device announcement as current policy. Use the current Android/One UI guidance and live Galaxy Store listing.
- Do not assume every failed image is unsupported. Samsung has not published a universal format or size rule in the material available for this troubleshooting path.
- Do not repeatedly clear data without a reason. Each reset can remove local app information and erase clues about which state caused the failure.
- Do not install a random APK. Use Galaxy Store so the build and compatibility status remain tied to Samsung’s distribution channel.
- Do not change several variables at once. If you update, reset, change permissions and switch images simultaneously, you will not know which action changed the result.
