If a Fortnite Outfit, Back Bling, Pickaxe, emote, or other cosmetic is missing, check the Epic account first, then the item category, filters, Archive, and style controls. A removal notice, a preset-style problem, and missing cosmetic metadata require different fixes; follow the matching branch below before contacting Epic Support.
Use this order to find the missing cosmetic
Work through these checks in sequence. Each one addresses a different reason an owned cosmetic may seem to disappear, so do not skip straight to reinstalling the game or buying the item again. Reinstalling does not correct a wrong Epic account, an active Locker filter, an archived item, or a style stored inside another cosmetic.
- Verify that Fortnite is signed in to the Epic Games account that purchased or earned the cosmetic.
- Separate an actual entitlement problem from a message saying the item or V-Bucks were removed.
- Open the correct Locker category.
- Clear every Sort and Filter setting.
- Show archived cosmetics and unarchive the item if necessary.
- Look for an alternate style inside the cosmetic’s Edit menu.
- If a style will not stay in a preset, remove and add the cosmetic again.
- Open an Epic Support ticket if the entitlement is still missing.
The exact menu names below follow Epic’s support instructions. Console and PC layouts can place the controls in slightly different locations, but the functions are the same. Keep the symptom in mind as you work: an absent tile, an inaccessible style, a style that will not save, and missing text are not interchangeable problems.
1. Confirm the Epic account that owns the cosmetic
The most common account-level explanation is that Fortnite is open under a different Epic account from the one associated with the purchase or entitlement. This can happen after switching console profiles, linking accounts, using a second email address, or signing in with a different method.

Compare the signed-in account with your receipt
- In Fortnite, identify the Epic account currently signed in. Use the account or profile area shown by the game or the Epic account portal.
- Search your email for the purchase receipt or entitlement message for the cosmetic, bundle, or pack.
- Compare the recipient email address on that receipt with the email address of the Epic account currently in use.
- If they differ, sign out and return to the Epic account that received the purchase or earned the item. Do not assume that a console username, display name, and Epic account email are interchangeable.
Check the account before changing any Locker settings. If the receipt belongs to another Epic account, searching the current Locker will not restore the item. Make the account correction before opening a support ticket, because support needs to know which account holds the entitlement.
For an earned cosmetic, there may be no purchase receipt. In that case, identify the Epic account used when the reward, event item, or pack was granted and compare that account with the one currently signed in. If you have more than one Epic account, record the relevant email addresses rather than relying only on display names.
2. Check whether Fortnite reported that the item was removed
Fortnite may display a message stating that a cosmetic or V-Bucks were removed. That is not the same symptom as an item being hidden by a Locker setting. If you saw such a message, use Epic’s removal-specific support guidance rather than treating the situation as an ordinary Locker search.
A removal notice changes the troubleshooting branch. Do not assume that clearing filters or unarchiving an item reverses a removal action. Follow the instructions for the notice, then provide the message details if Epic asks for them.
If no removal message appeared, continue with the Locker checks below. Avoid interpreting a missing search result by itself as proof that Epic removed the entitlement. A wrong category, filter, archive state, or style location can produce the same first impression without changing ownership.
3. Open the cosmetic’s correct Locker category
Locker lists are divided by cosmetic type. Choose the category that matches what is missing instead of searching only the currently selected section.
- Outfit: the character skin itself.
- Back Bling: the item equipped on an Outfit’s back.
- Pickaxe: the harvesting tool.
- Other categories: use the corresponding category for the missing glider, contrail, emote, wrap, loading screen, banner, or other cosmetic type.
A pack can contain several different cosmetic types, and each appears in its own category. If you are looking for a Back Bling while the Outfit category is selected, the item is not missing; it is simply outside the current list. The same applies when a pack includes an Outfit and a Pickaxe: finding one does not mean every component is listed alongside it.

4. Clear Sort and Filter settings
A selected filter can hide an owned cosmetic from the visible list. This is especially easy to miss when a filter was applied during an earlier Locker cleanup. The list may look complete while still excluding items that do not match the saved criteria.
- Open Locker.
- Select the cosmetic category where the item should appear.
- Open Sort and Filter.
- Turn off active filters. Remove restrictions such as favorite status, season, rarity, or other category-specific criteria if they are enabled.
- Apply the cleared settings and inspect the full list again.
Clear the filters before concluding that the entitlement is absent. An item can be owned and available while excluded from the current view. If the item returns after clearing a filter, no account recovery is required; the visibility setting was the cause.
Repeat this check in the category where the cosmetic should live. A filter cleared in one category does not tell you whether a different category has its own active view settings.

5. Check Archived items
Fortnite’s Archive feature hides cosmetics from the main Locker and the Emote Wheel without deleting them from the account. An archived item remains owned; it is simply excluded from the normal list until archived items are shown.
Show archived cosmetics
- Open the relevant Locker category.
- Open Sort and Filter.
- Enable the option to show Archived items.
- Look through the archived results for the missing cosmetic.
Epic describes Archive as a way to hide cosmetics without deleting them. See Epic’s explanation of the Archive feature for the current control description. Check Archive even if you do not remember using it; the important distinction is that an archived cosmetic remains on the account.
Unarchive the item
When you find the cosmetic, open its item menu and choose Unarchive Item. It should return to the main Locker list and become available for normal selection. Unarchiving does not repurchase the cosmetic or change its ownership; it only reverses the hidden state.
If the item is not in the archived results, return to the ordinary list with filters cleared and continue to the style check. Archive is a visibility explanation, not a reason to treat the cosmetic as permanently deleted.

Some packs provide alternate appearances as styles of one base cosmetic rather than as separate Locker entries. In that case, searching for a second item name will fail because the additional appearance is stored inside the original cosmetic.

Open the style selector
- Find the included Outfit, Back Bling, Pickaxe, or other base cosmetic in its category.
- Select the cosmetic.
- Choose Edit.
- Review the available styles and select the one included with the pack.
Epic’s guide for pack styles explains this distinction in its Locker style instructions. The absence of a separate tile does not by itself mean the pack failed to grant the style. First confirm that the base item is present, then inspect its Edit menu.
This check is particularly useful when one part of a pack appears correctly but an alternate color, appearance, or variant does not appear as another tile. The relevant question is whether the style is listed under the included cosmetic, not whether a second standalone entry exists.
7. Fix a style that will not stay in a preset
A different symptom occurs when you can see the cosmetic and its style, but the chosen style does not remain after saving or switching to a preset. This is a preset assignment problem rather than a missing-entitlement problem.
- Open the affected preset.
- Locate the cosmetic whose style is not saving.
- Remove that cosmetic from the preset.
- Add the same cosmetic to the preset again.
- Open Edit, choose the desired style, and save the preset.

Do not use this procedure as a substitute for account verification when the base cosmetic is absent everywhere. It addresses a style assignment that fails in a preset after the cosmetic can already be found in the Locker.
Match the symptom to the correct fix
Use this table to avoid applying a visibility fix to an account problem or treating a display problem as a deleted entitlement.

The branches are deliberately separate. Account verification addresses where the entitlement lives; filters and Archive address whether the item is visible; Edit addresses where a style is stored; and the metadata notices address information displayed about an item that is already present.

When the item is present but its details are missing
Not every Locker complaint concerns the cosmetic entitlement itself. Epic has reported an issue in which some cosmetic details, including names and descriptions, may not display as expected and has said it is working on a fix. A blank or incomplete description is therefore different from an item that cannot be found at all.

Check the current status of Epic’s notice about missing item descriptions. Because support notices can change, use the page’s latest wording rather than relying on an old status. If the cosmetic tile is selectable and usable, missing metadata does not establish that the account lost the cosmetic.
Describe this precisely if you contact support: say that the cosmetic is visible but its name or description is absent, rather than reporting that the item is missing from the Locker. That distinction helps keep a display issue separate from an entitlement investigation.
Why a rarity label may be absent
Fortnite retired its previous cosmetic quality color and tag system with version 29.20. Consequently, a cosmetic may no longer show the rarity color or label you remember, even though the item remains in your Locker.

Contact Epic Support after the Locker checks fail
If the correct account is signed in, no removal message applies, filters are cleared, archived items have been checked, and the style or preset branches do not explain the symptom, escalate the case to Epic Support. Epic’s missing-item guidance directs players to open a support ticket after completing the search steps.
Gather the information support will need
- The Epic account email currently in use.
- The email address and receipt for the original purchase, if the cosmetic was bought.
- The cosmetic’s name, pack name, or the event or reward through which it was earned.
- The platform and approximate date when you last saw the item, if known.
- Whether Fortnite displayed a removal message.
- Which Locker category, filters, Archive view, and Edit menu checks you completed.
- Screenshots of the receipt, the account identity, or the relevant Locker screen when they help show the discrepancy. Remove unrelated personal or payment information before uploading anything.
Start from Epic’s “I’m missing an item from my Fortnite Locker” support page and use its ticket option. Explain whether the problem is an absent tile, an inaccessible style, a preset that will not save, or missing text; those symptoms point to different systems.
Do not buy the cosmetic again while the account question is unresolved. A second purchase does not determine which Epic account owns the original entitlement and does not replace the account, visibility, archive, or style checks.

Are archived Fortnite cosmetics deleted?
No. Epic’s Archive feature hides cosmetics from the main Locker and Emote Wheel without deleting them from the account. Show Archived items through Sort and Filter, select the cosmetic, and choose Unarchive Item to return it to the normal Locker list.
Why is a pack style missing when the main cosmetic is visible?

Not necessarily. Epic has reported an issue affecting some cosmetic details, including names and descriptions. If the tile is present and usable, treat this as a metadata display problem and check Epic’s current notice rather than assuming the entitlement was revoked.
Why did my Fortnite cosmetic lose its rarity color or label?
Epic retired the previous cosmetic quality color and tag system with Fortnite v29.20. A missing old rarity indicator is a presentation change and does not by itself mean the cosmetic disappeared.
When should I contact Epic Support about a missing Locker item?
