If Dying Light 2 co-op will not connect, first confirm both players have unlocked co-op, set their device dates and times to match, and use a platform pairing Techland supports. If a session still fails or drops, record the circumstances and send those details to Techland Support. Its guidance does not identify one universal cause or fix for every co-op connection problem.
Check that both players have unlocked co-op
Co-op becomes available after the Prologue, at the Markers of Plague quest. Techland says it stays unlocked for the rest of the game. Make sure both the host and the joining player have reached that point before trying an invitation. Techland’s co-op troubleshooting guidance describes this requirement.

Match the date and time on each device
Check the local date and time on every player’s PC or console and make sure they match. Techland explicitly recommends this check for co-op connection issues, including for console players. See Techland’s co-op issues guidance.

Dying Light 2 does not support co-op across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. Steam and Epic players can play together on PC, and cross-generation play is supported within each console family. Check the pairing before troubleshooting the internet connection.

Gather details if an invitation still fails
If co-op is unlocked, device times match, and the platform pairing is supported, note the details Techland asks for before contacting support:

- Good product for use
- Good performance
- Good quality
- Each player’s platform and console generation; for PC, the storefront.
- Whether both players completed the Prologue through Markers of Plague.
- Whether the players’ device dates and times match.
- The host’s and joining player’s location and active quest when the connection was attempted.
- The number of friends listed in the game’s online menu.
- Internet connection details. Techland specifically asks PC players to check their connection with an online speed test.
Techland lists these details in its co-op issues support article.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsRecord what happened before an unexpected disconnect
For a session that starts but drops, write down how long it lasted, where the disconnect occurred, whether the players were free-roaming or doing a quest, and how many people were in the session. Those details help describe the failure to Techland; the support guidance does not say that any one circumstance is a definitive cause.

Check update notes without assuming they fix co-op
The official patch index lists Update 1.29 dated August 3, 2026, and Hotfix 1.28.1 dated June 25, 2026. Its brief index descriptions do not identify either release as a fix for co-op connectivity. Check the full notes for your platform and confirm players are using compatible game versions, but do not assume a listed update will resolve the problem. View the official Dying Light 2 patch notes.

If the checks above do not solve the issue, send Techland the relevant connection or disconnect details through its co-op issues support guidance. The cited article does not prescribe router changes, port forwarding, DNS changes, cache clearing, or reinstalling as fixes, so those steps should not be treated as Techland-confirmed solutions.
