If STAR WARS: Galactic Racer started crashing, freezing, stuttering, or losing campaign progress after an update, begin with the reversible checks: restart the game and your PC or console, install all pending system and game updates, then reproduce the fault once and record exactly where it occurs. On PC, update the graphics driver before changing performance settings; the October 8, 2026 hotfix raised the minimum driver requirement and changed DLSS-related stability. NVIDIA 50-series players should test DLSS and Frame Generation separately. Treat missing progress as possible save corruption, because the game may fail to display a corruption warning.
Use this three-minute first response
The official support sequence is deliberately short because it separates a temporary launch problem from a repeatable defect and ensures that later reports contain useful evidence.
- Restart Galactic Racer. Close it normally if possible, then launch it again.
- Restart the PC or console. A full restart clears a stuck process and pending system state that a game relaunch can leave behind.
- Install every pending system-software update. Check Windows, PlayStation 5, or Xbox system settings, depending on where you play.
- Confirm that Galactic Racer is fully updated. Let the platform finish any queued download or installation before testing.
- Reproduce the issue once. Write down the race, track, menu, loading screen, or exact action that triggers it. Note whether it happens every time or only occasionally.
Do not change several settings before this test. A clean reproduction gives you a useful baseline and makes a later support ticket easier to diagnose. The official support guidance explains that “Sharing the right details helps the team investigate faster and troubleshoot more efficiently.”

PC: update the driver before tuning graphics
Install a driver that meets the new minimum
The October 8, 2026 hotfix raised Galactic Racer’s minimum graphics-driver requirement. On a PC, check your graphics card model and current driver version, then install a driver that satisfies the game’s updated requirement. Restart Windows after installation if the installer requests it.

The first launch after a driver change can take longer while Galactic Racer rebuilds its shader cache. That delay is expected in this specific situation. Let the game reach the menu and complete its initial loading rather than interrupting it because the first run feels slow. Judge stutter only after that rebuild has finished.
Isolate DLSS and Frame Generation
The hotfix included DLSS stability fixes, and the developer’s known-issues notice identifies crashes on NVIDIA 50-series systems when Frame Generation and DLSS are used together. Test the two features independently so you know which combination is involved:
- Record the current driver version, DLSS mode, Frame Generation state, and the place where the crash occurs.
- Disable Frame Generation while leaving DLSS unchanged. Launch the same race, menu, or loading step.
- If the crash remains, restore Frame Generation and disable DLSS. Repeat the same test.
- If one setting change stops the crash, keep that setting disabled while you report the result. Do not re-enable both features simply to confirm a known failure repeatedly.
This is a diagnostic comparison, not a universal performance recommendation. Your result can depend on the card, driver, game mode, and track.

Avoid Fullscreen focus switching during diagnosis
The developer reports that changing to Fullscreen and switching focus between applications can make the monitor blink and leave the system highly unresponsive. While troubleshooting, choose a safer display mode and keep Galactic Racer focused. If you must switch applications, do so only after moving out of the problematic Fullscreen configuration.
Intel Arc A580 display distortion
For an Intel Arc A580 that shows flicker or a distorted picture, check whether resizable bar has been disabled. The developer lists that configuration as a cause of the display problem. Change only the resizable-bar setting, reboot if your system requires it, and repeat the same scene so you can tell whether the image is stable.
Steam Deck EOS overlay
If the EOS overlay appears to hang on Steam Deck, press B to cancel and return to the game. This is the documented way to leave that overlay state; it does not by itself indicate that your save or installation is corrupt.

When the problem is stutter rather than a crash
Stutter needs a different test because a driver change can temporarily make the first launch look worse while the shader cache is rebuilt. Complete the restart, update, and driver checks first, then use a controlled one-change-at-a-time process.

- Run the same track, menu, or loading transition where you noticed the hitch.
- Change one graphics option only. Begin with DLSS and Frame Generation because those are the settings connected to the current developer stability notice.
- Repeat the same test and record whether the hitch appears in menus, during loading, or on a particular track.
- Restore the previous setting before testing the next one unless the first change clearly resolves the symptom.
Keep a short log containing the driver version, the setting changed, and the exact location of the stutter. The available developer guidance does not publish a universal frame-rate cap or graphics preset that fixes every PC, so treat any proposed “one setting fixes all systems” advice with caution.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S checks
The supplied support sequence applies to console players as well as PC players: restart Galactic Racer, restart the console, install all pending system-software updates, confirm the game update completed, and reproduce the fault once. Record the exact race, menu, loading step, or track involved.

Keep the test reversible. Do not delete local save data merely because a crash occurred. If the issue is limited to one mode or track, record that detail; a repeatable location is more useful to support than a general statement that the game “keeps crashing.” Include the console model and region in any report so the support team can distinguish platform-specific behavior.
Missing progress may mean save corruption
The developer lists a serious known issue: a player does not always receive a notification when a save file is corrupted. Therefore, progress that disappears after a crash should be treated as possible corruption, not simply as a hidden or delayed update.

- Stop repeatedly launching the game and overwriting the affected slot while you investigate.
- Do not delete local save data, reinstall the game, or use an unverified recovery utility in the hope that it will restore the campaign.
- Write down the last successful session, the action immediately before the loss, the platform, region, date and time, and any error message.
- Capture screenshots or video showing the missing progress, an error code, or the menu state if possible.
What recovery can and cannot be promised
No documented source provides a guaranteed self-service restore procedure for a corrupted Galactic Racer save. Reinstalling the game is not established as a recovery method, and deleting local data can remove information that support might need. Ask the support team which platform-specific backup or account-recovery path applies to your device before taking a destructive action.

Build a useful support report
Open a ticket through the STAR WARS: Galactic Racer support center when the known-issues guidance does not cover your symptom or its workaround fails. PLAION’s help center advises creating a ticket when no relevant article resolves the problem.
Include the following in one report:
- Platform and region: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Steam Deck, plus the country or account region.
- Versions: game version, system version, and, on PC, graphics-card model and driver version.
- Timing: when the problem began, including whether it started immediately after the October 8, 2026 hotfix or another update.
- Reproduction steps: the menu path, race, track, loading screen, or button sequence that leads to the fault.
- Frequency: whether it happens every time or only in a particular mode, track, menu, or session.
- Messages and codes: copy the exact wording rather than paraphrasing it.
- Media: screenshots or a short video showing the crash, flicker, stutter location, or missing save.
- Changes already tested: driver update, DLSS state, Frame Generation state, display mode, and any other single setting you changed.
A precise report lets support compare your case with the developer’s known issues instead of asking you to repeat basic checks.

Information to collect before closing the game
If the game remains usable, collect evidence before attempting more experiments. Note the exact screen, track, race number, graphics settings, driver version, and time. For a save issue, record the last known good progress and avoid creating new saves in the affected slot. For stutter, note whether it occurs in menus, loading, or gameplay and whether it began before or after the shader cache completed. This record prevents accidental overwrites and gives support a reproducible target.
When to stop troubleshooting locally
Escalate instead of continuing local experiments when the known workaround does not help, when the issue is absent from the developer’s known-issues list, or when campaign progress is missing. A crash that repeats at the same race or menu, a display problem that survives the resizable-bar check, and any suspected save corruption all benefit more from a complete ticket than from repeated reinstalls or data deletion. Keep the affected configuration unchanged until support advises a platform-specific recovery step.
