If Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed ignores a button, reads the wrong direction, or gives you an awkward camera, first determine whether the fault follows the controller or stays with the game. Test the same controller in another game or your platform’s input checker, then review Rebrushed’s own control and camera options. A problem that appears everywhere points to the controller, connection, or platform; a problem limited to Rebrushed needs game-specific settings or official support.
The game launched on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Nintendo Switch 2 support was announced on October 6, 2026, including higher-resolution visuals, an improved framerate, and mouse-style controls with Joy-Con 2. Button labels, system diagnostics, and compatible accessories differ by platform, so use the section that matches your setup.
Start with the exact symptom
“The controller is not working” can describe several different faults. Write down what happens before changing anything: which button or stick is affected, whether the input is ignored or misread, whether the camera moves by itself, and whether the issue began after changing a setting, reconnecting the controller, or updating the game or system.

What is officially known about Rebrushed controls
THQ Nordic identifies the original release platforms as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The remake was developed by Purple Lamp with Disney Games and published by THQ Nordic. On October 6, 2026, THQ Nordic announced availability on Nintendo Switch 2, highlighting higher-resolution visuals, a higher framerate, and mouse-style Joy-Con 2 controls.

A September 17, 2024 developer diary says the remake’s graphics, camera, and interface were improved. That is a product-level statement, not a published list of camera sensitivity values, button assignments, reset shortcuts, or known fixes. The official material does not establish a universal “recenter camera” command, a platform-wide camera reset, or a current list of acknowledged controller bugs. Treat any such instruction found in an old post or video as unverified until it matches your version and platform.
Rebrushed uses paint and thinner to restore or alter the environment and adds dash, ground pound, and sprint moves. Those actions make precise directional input important, but their presence does not identify the cause of a camera or controller fault.
Do these checks before changing settings
Record your setup
- Platform and model: Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or PC.
- Game edition: full game or demo, and the version shown by your platform.
- Controller model and connection: wired USB, Bluetooth, console wireless, or Joy-Con 2.
- Exact inputs affected and the area of the game where the issue occurs.
- Whether the problem began after a system update, game update, remapping change, or controller pairing change.
Save evidence without risking progress
If possible, capture a short video showing the uncommanded camera movement or missed input. Note whether the same behavior occurs after restarting the game. Avoid repeatedly changing several options at once; changing one variable at a time makes the cause easier to identify.

- Open the game’s settings or options area from the title screen or pause screen.
- Confirm that the intended controller or input device is active. If more than one device is connected, temporarily disconnect unused controllers and input devices.
- Review every available control, camera, inversion, sensitivity, and accessibility option. The exact labels and values can differ by platform and version, so use the labels displayed by your copy rather than a guide written for another system.
- Check whether a custom binding, alternate layout, or platform remapping layer is enabled. Return only the affected action to its default if the game provides that control; do not assume a universal reset shortcut exists.
- Apply the change, return to gameplay, and test the same action in a safe area. Record what changed before trying another option.
No official source establishes exact menu names, default bindings, sensitivity numbers, or a guaranteed camera-reset command for every platform. If the option you need is absent, that absence is useful information to include in a support request; do not substitute a button combination from a different game.

Rule out a controller, battery, cable, or connection fault
Wireless controllers
- Turn the controller off and on, then reconnect it using the platform’s normal pairing process.
- Check the battery or charge indicator. Charge it fully or install a known-good battery before testing again.
- Move close to the console or PC and temporarily remove other wireless variables. If the problem disappears when connected by cable, note that result; it indicates a connection or wireless-interference possibility, not proof of a game bug.
- Disconnect other controllers and input devices so the game cannot select an unintended device.
Wired controllers
- Unplug and reconnect the USB cable at both ends.
- Try a different compatible USB port and, if available, a known-good data cable. A charging-only cable may not carry input data.
- Check whether the operating system or console recognizes the controller before launching the game.
Test outside Rebrushed
Use another game that exercises the same buttons and camera stick, or use your platform’s built-in controller test. A stick that drifts, a trigger that remains pressed, or a button that fails in multiple games is a hardware or platform-input problem. A controller that behaves normally elsewhere is evidence against a basic hardware failure, although it does not prove that Rebrushed has a defect.
If you have a compatible spare, use it only as a diagnostic comparison. A replacement controller may confirm a failing original, but it cannot be treated as a fix for a camera behavior that occurs only in Rebrushed.
Why the camera may not move correctly
The camera does not respond at all
First verify that the correct stick is active and that no other controller is taking priority. Test the stick in another game. If it works there, revisit Rebrushed’s control and camera options, restart the game, and check for a current update. If no setting changes the behavior, document the platform, version, controller, and exact location where it occurs for support.

Release the camera stick completely and observe whether the view continues moving. Repeat the test outside Rebrushed. Consistent drift across games points toward a worn or contaminated stick, a calibration issue, or another hardware fault. Drift only in Rebrushed may result from an in-game dead-zone or sensitivity behavior, if your version exposes such a setting. Do not claim that a particular dead-zone value is correct when the official documentation does not publish one.

The camera is inverted or the direction feels wrong
Look for a vertical or horizontal inversion setting and check any platform-level remapping. Change one axis at a time, test it, and write down the original state so you can reverse the change. An inverted camera is a configuration issue only when the setting is actually enabled; do not infer a defect from a preference that differs from another game.
The camera is stuck at an awkward angle
Move to a different area and test the camera after a normal movement, dash, sprint, or other action. If the view remains fixed while the stick works elsewhere, restart the current session and check the game’s available camera options. The official material does not document a guaranteed recenter button or a universal reset-camera procedure, so do not promise one. Report the exact sequence that leaves the camera stuck, including whether it happens after a cutscene, jump, dash, ground pound, or loading transition.
Platform-specific troubleshooting
Nintendo Switch
Test the affected Joy-Con or Pro Controller separately, then test another compatible controller if available. Check whether the console recognizes the controller before starting Rebrushed, and remove extra paired devices during the test. Because Switch button labels and controller layouts differ, describe inputs by both button name and position when contacting support.

Nintendo Switch 2
THQ Nordic’s October 6, 2026 announcement specifically describes mouse-style controls using Joy-Con 2. Confirm that the Joy-Con 2 is connected in the mode required by your game version and that you are not confusing mouse-style movement with the standard stick camera. Do not assume the feature applies to original Switch controllers, PlayStation, Xbox, or PC. If standard buttons work but mouse-style movement does not, report the Joy-Con 2 model, attachment or orientation, selected control mode, and whether the issue occurs in another supported application.

PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
Test the DualShock 4 or DualSense in another game, reconnect it, and compare wired and wireless behavior if possible. Check the console’s input recognition and any active accessibility or button-assignment changes. Use the exact console generation in a support request because PS4 and PS5 versions can differ even when the symptom sounds identical.
Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
Check the controller’s battery, wireless pairing, and USB connection, then test the same stick and buttons elsewhere. Record whether the issue occurs on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S. Avoid applying a controller layout from another Xbox title without confirming that Rebrushed recognizes it.
PC
Confirm that Windows recognizes the controller before launching the game. If you use a launcher or remapping layer, test with that layer disabled, then re-enable it and add changes one at a time. Disconnect duplicate gamepads, steering devices, and virtual controllers during diagnosis. Compare wired and wireless input if both are available, and record whether the problem appears only after the launcher starts.
Separate a game-specific issue from a hardware issue
Use this decision sequence:
- Does the same button or stick fail in another game or the platform input test? If yes, troubleshoot the controller, battery, cable, pairing, calibration, or system.
- Does the controller work elsewhere but fail only in Rebrushed? Check the game’s active device, bindings, camera options, and current update, then escalate with a reproducible description.
- Does the issue follow one controller when you switch platforms or games? That strongly implicates the controller rather than Rebrushed.
- Does the issue follow the game when you use two known-good compatible controllers? That supports a game-specific or platform-integration problem, but only official support can confirm a defect.
This separation prevents an unnecessary purchase and prevents a software camera problem from being misdiagnosed as stick damage.

When to contact official support
Steam’s support page for the demo lists support@quanticlab.com, with THQ Nordic as publisher and Purple Lamp as developer. That page concerns the demo, so verify the current support route for the full game and for consoles before sending a request.
Include:
- Platform, console model or PC configuration, and whether you are using the original release or Switch 2 version.
- Game edition and version number as displayed by your platform.
- Controller model, wired or wireless connection, and Joy-Con 2 mode if relevant.
- The exact button, stick direction, or camera behavior; avoid saying only “controls broken.”
- Whether the issue occurs in another game or the platform input test.
- Steps already tried, including reconnecting, changing one setting, restarting, and testing another controller.
- A short video or screenshots showing the behavior, with personal account information removed.
Ask support whether the symptom is a known issue for your exact platform and version. Do not assume a response for the demo applies to the full release.
Common mistakes that make diagnosis harder
- Changing several settings together: You cannot tell which change helped. Change one option, test, and record the result.
- Assuming every camera problem is stick drift: Test the controller elsewhere before buying hardware.
- Using another platform’s button guide: Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch 2 layouts are not interchangeable.
- Applying a Joy-Con 2 feature to other systems: The announced mouse-style control is specific to Switch 2.
- Relying on an undocumented reset shortcut: No universal recenter command is established in the official material.
- Sending support a vague report: Platform, version, controller, connection type, reproduction steps, and comparison-test results are far more useful.
A compact troubleshooting checklist
- Identify the platform, controller, connection type, and exact symptom.
- Check whether the controller is recognized and charged.
- Disconnect unused controllers and input devices.
