The issue-list dates and build numbers are useful identifiers, not a measure of how often a problem happens. Halo Support labels the Combat Evolved list as active issues as of February 28, 2025, in build 1.3495.0. Its separate MCC Global Known Issues page is dated February 26, 2026, and identifies build 1.3528.0.0. Because those pages cover different scopes and dates, check the current page for your issue before relying on an older status description.
Fix the weapon-pickup problem on Windows 1903
Halo Support associates a documented inability to pick up weapons with Windows version 1903. Its remedy is specific to that Windows version; it is not a general fix for every weapon, controller, input, or gameplay issue. The first useful step is therefore to check the Windows version rather than changing game settings or assuming the same remedy applies to another symptom.
- Press the Windows key, search for About, and open About Your PC.
- Under Windows specifications, read the Version field. Confirm whether it says 1903; do not rely on memory or on the PC’s age as a substitute for checking the version.
- If your PC is on Windows 1903, install available Windows updates, as Halo Support recommends updating the version.
- If you are staying on Windows 1903, consult the Microsoft instructions linked from Halo Support’s weapon-pickup article for the applicable Servicing Stack Update (SSU). Use those instructions to identify the relevant update rather than selecting an SSU by guesswork.
- After applying the appropriate update, launch the game and check whether the same weapon-pickup symptom remains. Compare the result against the original symptom rather than treating an unrelated issue as evidence that the update did or did not work.
Halo Support’s wording is explicitly about Windows 1903: it says players on that version should update, and says an SSU is an alternative for players on Windows 1903 who do not wish to update. That does not establish that installing an SSU is a general Windows maintenance step for every PC player. If About Your PC shows a different version, the documented remedy does not establish the cause or fix for your problem. Avoid applying the Windows 1903-specific advice to a different version without relevant guidance.
If you have the specified version and the problem remains after the applicable update, the listed remedy has not resolved your case. When describing the problem, state that you are playing Combat Evolved Anniversary in MCC, give the Windows version you checked, and describe the pickup symptom and whether you installed the applicable update. Understand Steam Deck Easy Anti-Cheat errors
Halo Support lists an active Steam Deck issue when Easy Anti-Cheat is enabled during campaign play. The reported effects include Easy Anti-Cheat errors, disconnection from online services, and achievements not being awarded. These are related symptoms listed for a particular platform and configuration; the entry should not be treated as a universal explanation for every Steam Deck error or every missing achievement.
Check that the circumstances match before drawing a conclusion: the documented entry is about Steam Deck campaign play with Easy Anti-Cheat enabled. Compare the timing of your freeze with that description. A freeze after choosing Quit to Desktop soon after the menu appears matches the documented case more closely than a crash during startup, a freeze while loading a campaign, or a problem at another point. The action and timing are both part of the listed scenario.
