Hometown Giants is streaming exclusively on Prime Video. About Amazon says all six episodes are available globally, with the Canadian announcement dating their release to October 16, 2026. If playback buffers, shows a black screen, or the sound falls out of sync, work through the checks in this order: isolate the network, restart and update the app and device, remove browser or security blockers, then test another device. If the fault follows your account across devices, give Prime Video support detailed diagnostic information rather than repeatedly reinstalling the same app.
What Hometown Giants is and where to watch it
Hometown Giants follows Michael Bublé and Drew Scott as owners of the Vancouver Giants during the 2025–26 season. The series has six episodes. About Amazon’s October 16, 2026 update says, “All six episodes of Hometown Giants are streaming now exclusively on Prime Video globally.” The Prime Video listing also shows six episodes and lists English audio and 5.1 audio.
“Globally” describes the announcement’s availability statement, not a guarantee that every country has identical pricing, catalog presentation, language options, or supported devices. Those details can change by country. Sign in to Prime Video in your region and search for the exact title; if it is missing, record your country and account region before contacting support. Do not assume that a missing listing is a buffering problem.

Identify the failure before changing settings
A quick isolation test prevents you from applying a browser fix to a network problem or replacing an app when the service itself is the issue. Note whether the symptom occurs at launch, after a few minutes, or only during one episode.

Keep the episode number, the time the problem occurred, and any on-screen error code. Those details make later support conversations much faster.
Fix buffering in a deliberate order
Buffering means the player is waiting for enough data to continue. The checks below move from the broadest cause (the connection) to the narrowest (the app installation), so you can stop as soon as playback is stable.
1. Switch networks to isolate the connection
- Start the same Hometown Giants episode and note where it pauses.
- On a phone or tablet, temporarily switch from Wi‑Fi to cellular data. On a TV or streaming device, use another available network or a phone hotspot only for this test.
- Play the same scene again. If it works on the second network, the original Wi‑Fi path is the leading suspect; if it fails identically, continue to the app and device checks.
This comparison is more useful than guessing a bandwidth number. The available platform guidance does not establish a Prime Video-specific minimum speed for this title. A speed figure published for another streaming service should not be presented as a Prime Video requirement.

- Stop playback and unplug the modem/router power.
- Wait about 30 seconds to two minutes.
- Reconnect the equipment and wait until its connection lights indicate service has returned.
- Retry the episode before starting downloads or other high-traffic activity.
A restart can clear a temporary connection state, but it will not repair an account, app, or device problem. If a second network works while your home network does not, contact your internet provider after checking other devices on that Wi‑Fi.

3. Remove competing traffic
Close file transfers, game updates, cloud backups, video calls, and other streaming sessions while testing. Also close background apps on the playback device. This is an isolation step, not a permanent requirement: once the episode plays normally, re-enable services one at a time if you need to find which one was competing for the connection.
4. Restart and update the playback device
Force-close Prime Video, reopen it, and restart the phone, smart TV, console, or streaming device. Then install any pending Prime Video update and any operating-system or firmware update offered by the device manufacturer. An old app or firmware version can behave differently from the current service even when other apps still work.
5. Clear the app’s cache or reinstall
Use the device’s app settings to clear Prime Video cache or data when that option is provided. A cache clear can remove damaged temporary files without changing your account; clearing app data may require you to sign in again. If buffering continues, uninstall Prime Video, restart the device, reinstall the app from its normal app store, and sign in again. Test one episode before restoring other settings.
Fix a black screen or missing video
A black screen can be a playback state, a browser or security filter, or a display connection. Work through these branches instead of repeatedly pressing play.

When the app opens but the video area is black
- Wait briefly after launching the episode, then refresh playback or stop and start the episode again.
- Force-close Prime Video and reopen it. Restart the device if the screen remains black.
- Install pending app and device updates.
- Try the same episode on another browser or device. This determines whether the account can receive video and whether the failure is local to one installation.
When a browser is involved
- Hard-refresh the page.
- Clear the browser’s cache and cookies for Prime Video, then sign in again.
- Open a private window or a different supported browser.
- Temporarily disable ad blockers, strict tracking protection, and content-filtering extensions for the test.
Re-enable extensions one at a time after playback returns. If one extension consistently brings the black screen back, keep it disabled for Prime Video or adjust its site permission rather than disabling all browser security permanently.
When security software or a proxy may be blocking playback
Temporarily turn off a mobile antivirus web filter, content filter, or proxy accelerator only long enough to test, following the product’s own safety controls. ESPN Fan Support, updated October 5, 2026, warns that “a content filter, mobile antivirus app, or proxy accelerator may be preventing video streaming.” This is a diagnostic step: restore protection immediately after the test and change a specific allow-list or site setting if that is what fixes playback.
When sound plays but the picture is black
Check that the television is on the input connected to the streaming device and that the HDMI cable is firmly seated. Restart the connected device and the display, then test the episode in the television’s own Prime Video app or on another screen if available. The general platform guidance supports app and device resets; it does not establish a Hometown Giants-specific HDMI defect, so do not treat an HDMI replacement as proven until another cable or display changes the result.

An audio-sync error is the sound arriving noticeably before or after the picture. Because the Prime Video listing includes 5.1 audio, the signal may pass through a television, soundbar, receiver, or streaming stick; testing a simpler setup helps identify where the delay is introduced.

Start with a clean playback state
- Stop the episode completely and force-close Prime Video.
- Restart the phone, television, console, or streaming stick.
- Install pending Prime Video, operating-system, and firmware updates.
- Play the same scene again and check whether the offset returns immediately.
Separate network, app, and equipment causes
- Test the episode on another network. A changed result indicates that the original connection or its traffic conditions may be involved.
- Test another device. If sync is correct on a phone but wrong on a television, concentrate on the television, soundbar, receiver, HDMI path, or that device’s app installation.
- Where the platform permits it, clear Prime Video cache or data and sign in again.
- If the offset persists, uninstall and reinstall Prime Video.
Power-cycle connected equipment
For a smart TV or streaming stick, unplug the device for about 30 seconds, reconnect it, wait for it to boot, and retry. If a soundbar or receiver is in the chain, power-cycle that equipment as well. Compare playback through the television’s built-in speakers, when possible, with playback through the external audio path. A difference between those tests points to connected equipment rather than the episode itself.
These are general platform remedies. No published source establishes a Hometown Giants-specific audio-sync bug or a frequency for this symptom, so a sync problem on one setup should not be described as a defect in the series.

A fault that follows the account across multiple devices and networks is appropriate for Prime Video support. A fault isolated to one browser or device is more likely to respond to cache, extensions, firmware, or local network work.

Use a browser or device test without creating a new problem
Testing another setup is temporary troubleshooting, not a reason to weaken security or erase unrelated data. Use a private window when you want to avoid existing cookies, but remember that you may need to sign in. Clear only the site’s cache and cookies when your browser offers that control, and note any saved settings you will need to restore. On a television or console, confirm that you know the account credentials before uninstalling the app.
Do not run several changes at once if you want a useful diagnosis. For example, switching networks, reinstalling the app, and changing HDMI equipment simultaneously may restore playback but leave you unable to tell which layer failed. Make one change, replay the same scene, and record the result.
When to contact Prime Video support
Escalate after the network switch, restart, update, cache/reinstall, and alternate-device tests fail, or immediately if an account or regional listing appears wrong. Support can investigate a service-side or account condition only when it has enough context to reproduce it.

Information to include
- The exact episode and the scene or approximate timestamp where the problem appears.
- Your country or region and the date and exact time of the failure, including the time zone if relevant.
- Device type, model, operating-system or firmware version, and Prime Video app version; for a browser, include its name and version.
- The symptom in precise terms: buffering, a black screen with or without audio, or audio ahead of or behind the picture.
- Any displayed error code or message, plus a screenshot when it does not expose private account information.
- Whether another network or another device works, and whether the fault affects one episode or all tested episodes.
Tell support which steps you already completed. “It fails on two devices and both Wi‑Fi and cellular” is substantially more actionable than “the show does not work.” NBA and Crunchyroll support guidance likewise asks for device, location, timing, symptoms, and error details when investigating playback failures.
What is established about this title’s playback problems
The available platform guidance documents general remedies for buffering, black screens, and audio or subtitle synchronization. It does not publish a Hometown Giants-specific rate for any of these problems, nor does it identify a title-wide defect. Treat the workflow above as fault isolation for your setup, not as evidence that the series itself is malfunctioning.
