Make a short symptom record
Before changing multiple things at once, note when the update installed, when each symptom started, and whether the problem is improving, stable, or getting worse. Record the phone model, region, full build number, and the names of apps that crash or appear to use unusual power. The build number and model matter because beta instructions and rollback packages are release- and device-specific.

What to look for after the restart
- Whether the same apps still crash, lag, or display a black screen.
- Whether drain appears limited to a particular app or remains a device-wide change.
- Whether heat subsides or is persistent, severe, or increasing.
- Whether the phone is stable enough to keep using while you report the issue.
Change one thing at a time where practical. If you update apps, wait through the recommended settling period, and restart, note which action preceded any change. This makes your report more useful than a list of steps with no timing.

Do not treat the suggested charging period as a test that must be completed regardless of conditions. It is a suggestion in one particular beta notice, not a mandatory waiting period. If the phone becomes severely hot, increasingly unstable, or difficult to use, prioritize contacting support rather than waiting for the suggested period to pass. If symptoms are mild and the phone remains usable, following the release-specific guidance gives background activity a chance to finish before you judge whether the problem persists.
Understand what heat during an update does—and does not—mean
The OxygenOS 14.0 User Manual says: “It is normal for your phone to heat up slightly during the update. Once the update is complete, your phone will quickly cool back down.” That statement is limited to slight heating during an update and to the wording in that manual. Neither statement establishes that persistent or severe overheating after a beta installation is safe or expected. The cited guidance gives no temperature threshold, so do not use an invented number to decide whether continued heat is harmless. If the phone remains severely hot, becomes less stable, or you are concerned about continuing to use it, stop relying on general troubleshooting and contact official OnePlus support. Do not wait for an arbitrary number of hours simply because one beta announcement mentions a period of charging.
Keep the distinction clear when describing the problem: slight warmth during the installation process, temporary warmth after the installation, and ongoing severe heat during ordinary use are not interchangeable reports. If app updates and a restart do not resolve the issue, use the feedback or bug-report instructions associated with your own beta announcement. OnePlus release notices identify routes such as Community feedback, the Community app or profile, device feedback, or another route; the available method can vary by release and region. Do not assume that a route, menu, or code mentioned for another build works on your phone.

When you submit feedback, include the details that let OnePlus distinguish your report from a different model or release:
- Phone model and region.
- The full software build number and the beta program or channel, if shown in your release information.
- When the update installed and when the symptom first appeared.
- Which apps crash, lag, show a black screen, or seem related to unusual drain.
- Whether the problem affects one app or the phone more broadly, and whether it is improving or worsening.
- Steps that reproduce the issue, if you can describe them reliably.
Use the release-specific instructions rather than a generic report route found for another region. If you cannot use the beta feedback path or symptoms are severe, contact OnePlus support for your region and give them the same device and build information.
A useful report separates what you observed from what you suspect. For example, state that a named app displayed a black screen after a described action, or that drain began across the device after the update; avoid presenting either observation as proof of a particular cause. Include whether updating the affected app or restarting changed anything. If you cannot reproduce the issue reliably, say so rather than guessing at steps.

Backup is not a formality. Since rollback erases device contents, do not proceed on the assumption that important information will remain on the phone or that every item will be restored automatically. Check the backup options and instructions for your device, and make sure you understand the consequences before using a downgrade package.
