If ARC Raiders started stuttering, crashing, or running at unusually low FPS after an update, first match the symptom to the change that preceded it. Embark’s October 8, 2026 Frozen Trail 2.0 notes include performance and stability optimizations and a fix for a crash while changing graphics settings, but its published known-issues list does not identify a general PC stuttering or low-FPS regression. That does not rule out individual problems. Check the official notes for the issue that fits, then use the steps below without assuming every post-update problem has the same cause.
Start with the update and symptom
Before changing drivers or system settings, note whether the issue began after an ARC Raiders patch, a Windows update, or a GPU-driver change. Also identify whether it is a crash, a sustained drop in frame rate, or intermittent stuttering: those symptoms call for different checks.
- Record your platform, game version, GPU and CPU, and GPU-driver version.
- Note when the problem occurs: at launch, while changing graphics settings, throughout play, or only in a particular situation.
- Check the current official ARC Raiders notices for a matching issue. A developer notice is stronger evidence than an unverified workaround from a forum.
Frozen Trail 2.0, published October 8, 2026, reports general performance and stability optimizations, reduced enemy memory use in busy encounters, a fix for a crash when changing graphics settings, and an upgrade to AMD FSR version 4.1.1. Crash while changing graphics settings
Embark says Frozen Trail 2.0 fixed a crash that could happen when changing graphics settings. Confirm the update has downloaded, restart the game client, and try the same settings change again. If it still crashes, record your platform, the exact error, and whether the crash occurs only during that action; then contact ARC Raiders support. The patch note documents a fix for this specific crash, not a promise that all crashes are resolved.

Crash after Windows Update KB5121003
Embark has separately reported PC crashes associated with Windows Update KB5121003 and points players to an official workaround while it investigates. Check the current notice and follow only its current instructions: the workaround details should not be inferred from the mere fact that the update is installed. Do not remove a Windows update or make other operating-system changes unless Embark’s current guidance specifically directs you to do so. Check Embark’s official ARC Raiders notices.
Steam launch crash or error
Embark’s August 11, 2026 Steam hotfix targeted a variety of crashes and errors that occurred when launching the game. Restart Steam so it can check for and apply available game updates, then try launching again. Unusually low FPS
In a June 16, 2026 advisory, Embark said, “We know some PC players may experience lower FPS than usual.” Its guidance was to check that GPU drivers are current and, if the problem persists, consider rolling back to a previous driver version. This is dated developer guidance, not a guaranteed fix or an instruction to install a beta driver. Check current official notes before changing drivers, and avoid a rollback unless the timing points to a driver change or the low-FPS issue continues after checking the current version. Stuttering means brief frame-time hitches; it is different from a consistently low frame rate and from network lag. The reviewed official notes do not give a universal stutter fix or publish expected FPS or frame-time benchmarks. Embark’s October 8 notes mention performance and memory optimizations, but do not say they eliminate all stuttering. Track whether the hitches happen in one map or situation, whether they began immediately after a game or driver update, and whether the problem occurs only in ARC Raiders. Those details make a support report more useful than trying unrelated system changes.

Restarting the client and checking official update status are low-risk checks. Driver rollback and operating-system changes are more consequential, so use them only when the symptom and timing provide a clear reason. The official sources reviewed publish no affected-player percentage, diagnostic success rate, or measured FPS uplift for these fixes.

- Platform and storefront, game version, and the date the issue began.
- Whether the trigger was a game patch, Windows update, or GPU-driver change.
- GPU and CPU models, GPU-driver version, and the exact error message if there is one.
- Whether the problem occurs at launch, during a settings change, or in a specific gameplay situation, and whether it affects other games.
These details help distinguish a documented issue from a problem specific to one PC. The official reports do not establish that buying a GPU, PC, cable, peripheral, cooling device, or repair tool will fix update-related symptoms; consider hardware changes only if a separate diagnosis identifies a system fault.
