The right fix depends on which symptom you have. Treat a crash or failed launch as a PC software or anti-cheat problem; treat low FPS and stuttering as a performance or driver problem; and treat a failed queue or connection error as a network, crossplay, clock, or server-region problem. Work through the matching section below rather than changing several unrelated settings at once.
Embark’s support guidance changes with patches. The PC crash guide was updated September 30, 2026, the requirements page was updated October 1, 2025, and the latest release notes considered here are dated October 8, 2026. Older known-issue notices may no longer apply after a later update, so check the current help center and release notes when a step refers to a dated incident.
Identify the symptom before changing anything
| What you see | Start here | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| ARC Raiders closes to the desktop, freezes, or will not launch | PC crash and launch sequence, then Easy Anti-Cheat-specific checks | Primarily PC |
| The game launches but feels jerky or runs below its usual frame rate | Compare your hardware with Embark’s published targets, then update or roll back the GPU driver | PC; console players should first check for a game update and a current known issue |
| You receive a connection error or lose connection in a session | Check the local connection, avoid VPN/proxy interference, and work through Windows network steps on PC | PC; console network settings differ |
| You cannot find a match or cannot join a map condition | Synchronize the device clock, review crossplay, and set the correct matchmaking region | PC and console |
Do not assume a long matchmaking queue is the same as an internet outage. A queue can fail because of party crossplay rules or an incorrect region even when other online services work normally.
When ARC Raiders crashes or will not launch on PC
Follow these checks in order. Restart after applying Windows, driver, or DirectX updates so the new components are actually loaded.

1. Compare the PC with the published requirements
Embark’s requirements are targets, not a diagnosis for every machine. If your computer is below the minimum, crashes or unstable performance can have several causes; if it is above the target, a driver, overlay, update, or game-specific issue can still be responsible.
2. Test Raider Voice beta if the failure is in a menu or during loading
Embark’s September 30, 2026 crash guide specifically calls out Raider Voice beta. If it is enabled and the crash happens in the main menu or while loading, disable the beta and test again. This is a targeted check for that symptom, not a reason to disable unrelated audio features permanently.
3. Update the drivers that can affect launch
Check the GPU driver first, but Embark also lists CPU, motherboard or BIOS, monitor, network-adapter, and peripheral drivers. Install updates from the appropriate hardware manufacturer, then restart Windows. A peripheral utility or device driver can be involved even when the game itself is installed correctly.

4. Update DirectX and Windows
Install pending DirectX and Windows updates and reboot. Do not judge the result until after the restart. If the problem began immediately after a Windows update, record the update identifier before attempting any rollback or removal; a dated known issue may already have been addressed by a later patch.
5. Verify the installed game files in Steam
For a Steam installation, use the launcher’s installed-file verification command for ARC Raiders. Verification replaces missing or damaged files without requiring a full reinstall. It is a useful integrity check after an interrupted update, but it cannot correct a driver, BIOS, Windows, or network problem.

6. Handle Easy Anti-Cheat errors by their exact code
Easy Anti-Cheat failures require the error-specific procedure in Embark’s guide. Do not treat file deletion or reinstallation instructions for one exit code as a universal first step.
- Error 30005: reboot the PC first, as Embark lists a restart as the initial action.
- Maximum simultaneous instances: check whether a previous ARC Raiders process is still running, then close that lingering process before launching again.
- Other exit codes: follow the named code’s instructions rather than guessing. The remedy can differ by code.
If the basic checks do not help, temporarily disable overlays and third-party software that hooks into games, then test with the smallest possible software configuration. Re-enable items one at a time after the game is stable so you can identify a conflict instead of leaving every utility disabled.

Embark’s September 8, 2026 notes listed a PC crash issue associated with Windows Update KB5121003. The October 8, 2026 release notes reviewed here do not establish whether that report remains active. Check the current support and release-note status before changing or removing a Windows update; do not uninstall an update solely because its identifier appears in an older notice.
The September 2026 notes also listed Xbox Series S crashes under investigation. That is a platform-specific report, not evidence that every Xbox model or PC has the same fault. Because a later resolution is not established here, check the latest Xbox-related notice before assuming a console reset is necessary.
Low FPS and stuttering: establish the performance baseline
Embark’s published requirements page, last updated October 1, 2025, describes three performance targets. The figures below are the targets Embark states; they are not a guarantee of a particular frame rate in every scene, patch, or background-software configuration.

| Target | Operating system and processor | Memory | Graphics hardware | Stated output |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Windows 10 or later, 64-bit; Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 | 12 GB RAM | NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti, AMD RX 580, or Intel Arc A380 | Low settings at 1080p/60 fps |
| Recommended | Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | 16 GB RAM | NVIDIA RTX 2070, AMD RX 5700 XT, or Intel Arc B570 | High settings at 1440p/60 fps |
| Epic | Not stated on the cited requirements summary | 16 GB RAM | Not stated on the cited requirements summary | 1440p/90 fps |
Use the row closest to your system as a comparison point. A machine that meets the minimum target is not expected to deliver the recommended 1440p experience, and an upgrade decision cannot be made responsibly without knowing the exact CPU, GPU, memory, resolution, settings, temperatures, and the moment at which the stutter occurs.
Update or roll back the GPU driver
In a June 16, 2026 note, Embark said some PC players could experience lower-than-usual FPS and advised ensuring that the GPU driver was current or trying a rollback to a previous driver if the problem continued. If the slowdown began after a driver update, test the previous stable driver supplied by your GPU manufacturer; if the driver is old, update first. Change one variable at a time and record which version you tested.
Account for the March performance changes without treating them as a guarantee
The March 31, 2026 Flashpoint notes described optimized texture-streaming calculations intended to reduce stuttering and CPU-performance optimizations. Those are game changes made in that patch, not proof that every current stutter has been solved. A player can still see hitching from a driver regression, a system that is below the target, background software, or a newer game issue.
Use symptom timing to narrow the cause
- Stutter begins after a game update: check the current release notes and GPU-driver guidance before changing hardware.
- FPS is consistently low: compare CPU, GPU, RAM, resolution, and settings with the published target table.
- Only menus or loading screens crash: use the Raider Voice beta check in the crash section rather than treating it as a general FPS problem.
- Frame rate is normal until an overlay appears: test with overlays and third-party game-hooking utilities disabled, as Embark recommends for unresolved PC crashes.
A patch note can explain why a symptom was targeted, but it cannot promise a fix for your current configuration. Avoid generic “optimizer” tools and do not buy a GPU, CPU, or memory upgrade until a system-specific comparison shows that the component is actually below the relevant target.

Matchmaking settings for PC and console
- Synchronize the device clock. An incorrect date or time can interfere with matchmaking. Enable automatic time and time-zone synchronization on the PC, Xbox, or PlayStation, then retry.
- Review crossplay. Enable crossplay when appropriate for the people in your party. Embark says the most restrictive crossplay setting among party members applies to everyone, so one restrictive setting can prevent a compatible queue.
- Check the region. Confirm that the selected matchmaking region matches your location and the party’s intended region.
- Set the server to Automatic. In the game, open Gameplay > Server and choose Automatic. Embark recommends this on both PC and console unless support has given you a specific regional instruction.
If a queue message says that a player went offline while queuing or that crossplay settings are incompatible, follow that message literally: check the party member’s connection and crossplay setting before troubleshooting hardware. Embark’s September patch notes say matchmaking messages were improved to make those situations clearer.
PC network troubleshooting sequence
Embark recommends a stable, fast connection and states: “A wired (Ethernet) connection is recommended over Wi-Fi.” A cable can reduce local wireless variability, but it cannot repair a game-server outage, an incompatible crossplay party, or an incorrect matchmaking region.
- Confirm the connected network and password. Make sure Windows is connected to the intended network rather than a guest or captive-portal network. Test another site or service to distinguish a local internet outage from an ARC Raiders-only problem.
- Prefer wired Ethernet when practical. Connect the PC directly to the router or network switch. If you use Wi-Fi, move closer to the access point and avoid testing during a known local interference problem.
- Avoid VPNs and proxies for the test. Embark advises avoiding them where possible because they can alter routing or authentication. If a work or school network requires a proxy, test on an unrestricted connection instead of removing a required security control.
- Run Windows’ network troubleshooter. Use the troubleshooter for the active adapter, apply only changes it explains, and restart if Windows requests it.
- Try a public DNS service if name resolution is failing. Change DNS through the active adapter’s IPv4 settings, record the original addresses first, and restore them if the change makes no difference. DNS changes affect lookup; they do not increase the game server’s capacity.
- Renew the IP lease and flush DNS. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
These commands reset the local lease and resolver cache; they are troubleshooting steps, not guaranteed remedies. You may briefly lose network access while the lease is renewed.
- Clear the launcher cache. Use the launcher’s supported cache-clearing option if available, then restart the launcher and sign in again. Do not delete arbitrary folders when the launcher does not identify them as cache data.
If only ARC Raiders fails while other services remain reachable, save the exact message and time, then check current Embark notices. If every online service fails, fix the local connection or contact the internet provider before changing game settings.
Console-specific checks
Console players do not use PC driver, DirectX, Steam-file-verification, or Windows network commands. Concentrate on the device clock, crossplay, region, and Gameplay > Server > Automatic. Install the latest game update and compare the symptom with the current platform-specific release notes. The Xbox Series S crash notice from September 2026 was described as under investigation; its status after the October 8 notes is not established here, so verify the current notice before attempting a factory reset or other destructive action.
A safe order of operations
When several symptoms appear together, use this order so one change does not hide the original cause:
- Write down the platform, game version, exact error text or code, and when the problem started.
- For a crash, perform the PC launch sequence: requirements, Raider Voice beta check when relevant, drivers, DirectX and Windows, restart, Steam verification, then error-specific Easy Anti-Cheat steps.
- For low FPS or stutter, compare the system with Embark’s targets and test the current or previous GPU driver.
- For matchmaking, synchronize the clock, review every party member’s crossplay setting, verify the region, and set the server to Automatic.
- For a PC connection error, use Ethernet if possible, remove VPN/proxy variables, run the network troubleshooter, then try DNS, IP renewal, DNS flushing, and launcher-cache clearing.
- After each change, reproduce the same action that triggered the symptom. If the failure disappears, restore unrelated settings one at a time to find the responsible variable.
When none of these steps works
Do not repeat every fix indefinitely. Record the exact error code, platform and hardware, operating-system and GPU-driver versions, whether the issue affects all party members, the selected region and crossplay settings, and the date of the last successful session. Check Embark’s current help-center articles and release notes for a matching incident, especially when your symptom began immediately after a Windows, driver, or game update. The dated notices above establish possible incidents, not a universal explanation for every player.
