Most connection failures come from one of four conditions: the glasses are not charged or switched on, Bluetooth is unavailable, the glasses are not in pairing mode, or the phone is holding a stale pairing record. Work through the non-destructive checks first; reserve a factory reset for the final step because it permanently deletes captures.
This guide gives model-specific steps for Ray-Ban Meta glasses, based on Ray-Ban’s US and India FAQs accessed October 9, 2026. Identify your glasses model and whether your phone is an iPhone or Android device before following the button sequences. Other brands and generations can use different controls and apps.
First identify the glasses and the failure
The button combinations below are for Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Other AI-glasses brands and older generations can use different LEDs, buttons and companion apps, so do not apply a Ray-Ban Meta reset sequence to another model. Find the model name on the case, receipt or product label, then use that manufacturer’s support instructions for model-specific controls.
Also identify the phone platform. iPhone and Android handle an old Bluetooth record differently, and the exact companion-app labels can change with app updates. The Ray-Ban Meta instructions in this guide reflect the US and India support FAQs accessed October 9, 2026.

Match the symptom to the likely fix
- The glasses never appear: check charging, power, pairing mode and Bluetooth before changing app settings.
- The glasses appear in the phone’s Bluetooth list but not in the app: remove the stale association and start pairing from the companion app’s Add device flow.
- The app finds them but setup fails: unpair in the app, forget the old Bluetooth entry where appropriate, then pair again.
- They connect and then drop: move the phone closer, disconnect other Bluetooth devices and check the phone’s wireless settings.
Separate initial setup from a broken connection that used to work. For a first-time setup, the priority is putting the glasses in pairing mode and starting in the Meta AI app. If the glasses were already set up, first try a normal restart; if the app still cannot reconnect, remove the app and phone associations and pair again. A factory reset is a separate, more destructive action—not another name for restarting.
Do the non-destructive checks first
Charge the case and glasses
Place the glasses in their charging case and confirm that the case itself has power. On a first charge of Ray-Ban Meta glasses, remove the protective plastic tab covering the case’s metal charging contacts. If the case does not charge, try a different USB-C cable and then a different power adapter; Ray-Ban’s regional FAQ notes that some chargers may not be compatible.
Charging accessories cannot repair an ordinary Bluetooth configuration problem. Use this check to establish that the glasses can actually power on, not as a reason to buy a replacement cable or case. If the original case is missing or demonstrably faulty, contact the manufacturer about the correct replacement for your generation.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Do not treat a cable or adapter as a Bluetooth fix if the case and glasses charge normally. Conversely, if the glasses cannot charge or power on, pairing troubleshooting cannot establish whether the wireless connection is the underlying problem. Resolve the charging question using the official case guidance before continuing.
Switch the glasses on
Move the glasses’ power switch to the on position. A phone cannot discover powered-off glasses, even if the case has a full battery. Keep the glasses docked in the case while preparing pairing mode unless your model’s instructions say otherwise.
Enable Bluetooth and reduce interference
Turn on Bluetooth in the phone’s system settings. For a connection that repeatedly drops, keep the phone nearby—Ray-Ban suggests placing it in front of you or in a front pocket—and temporarily disconnect watches, earbuds, cars and other Bluetooth accessories. This isolates radio contention without deleting any data.
Changing proximity and temporarily disconnecting other accessories are quick tests, not permanent configuration requirements. If the glasses are not discoverable during initial setup, return to the pairing-mode and app steps below; a closer phone alone does not substitute for pairing mode.

Pairing is completed through the Meta AI app, not solely through the phone’s Bluetooth menu. The phone’s Bluetooth settings can show an existing association, but the recommended setup flow is to add the glasses in the companion app so the app can complete setup.

- Sign in to the Meta AI app on the phone.
- Place the powered-on glasses in the charging case.
- Watch the case LED. A flashing or pulsing blue light indicates that the glasses are ready to pair.
- If pairing mode does not start, press and hold the button on the back of the case for at least five seconds.
- Wait up to 10 seconds for the glasses to appear.
- In the app, open Settings, choose Add device, select the glasses and follow the on-screen prompts.
Keep the app open during discovery. If the glasses do not appear after the 10-second discovery window, confirm that the case LED is still blue and repeat the Add device flow rather than selecting a generic Bluetooth-audio option. The blue light is the useful sign that the glasses are ready to pair; if it is absent, repeat the pairing-mode step before troubleshooting the phone’s device list.
Do not assume that seeing the glasses in Bluetooth settings means setup is complete. If they appear there but the Meta AI app does not show them, clear the old association as described next, then start again through the app. The two screens answer different questions: the Bluetooth list shows a phone-side record, while the app’s Add device flow is the Ray-Ban Meta setup path.
Remove an old Bluetooth entry before retrying
A stale association can block a clean setup. If the glasses are already listed in the phone’s Bluetooth settings, remove that entry before starting Add device again.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- iPhone: open Settings > Bluetooth, tap the information button beside the glasses and choose Forget This Device. Ray-Ban’s US FAQ specifically calls for this iPhone step.
- Android: the US FAQ says forgetting the entry is not required for Android, while another regional FAQ advises forgetting an existing entry when it appears. If Android discovery remains stuck, removing the old entry is a reasonable clean-start step.
Do not finish setup from the Bluetooth page alone. Use the Meta AI app’s Settings > Add device process so account registration and device permissions are completed together.
If this is a previously working pair that has stopped connecting, removing the Bluetooth entry by itself may not clear the app’s saved relationship. Use the app’s Unpair glasses option as well, then remove the phone entry and add the glasses again. That sequence is more complete than repeatedly tapping the old Bluetooth record.
Restart before you reset
A restart and a factory reset have very different consequences. Ray-Ban says both a normal restart and a force restart preserve captures and do not require you to pair again. Try these steps before unpairing or resetting, especially if the glasses were already working and the connection suddenly stopped.
Normal restart
- Switch the glasses off.
- Wait a few seconds.
- Switch them back on.
- Leave the glasses near the phone and allow a few minutes for the app to reconnect.
This is appropriate when the glasses were previously working and suddenly disappear, or when the app is slow to update their status. Ray-Ban says the glasses should reconnect to the app within a few minutes. If they do not, move to the force-restart or unpair-and-pair steps rather than assuming that the restart erased anything.
Force restart
- Switch the glasses off.
- Press and hold the capture button.
- While continuing to hold the capture button, switch the glasses back on.
- Release the button when the status LED turns red.
A force restart is useful when a normal power cycle does not restore the connection. It is not a data-erasing operation. The status LED cue matters: release when it turns red, rather than continuing into a different button sequence. If the glasses are another brand or generation, use that model’s official instructions instead.

Unpair in the app and pair again
If the glasses still do not reconnect after a few minutes, remove the app-level pairing as well as the phone’s old Bluetooth record. In the Meta AI app, the current Ray-Ban FAQ path is:
- Open Settings.
- Choose Your glasses.
- Open General.
- Tap Unpair glasses and confirm.
- Return to Settings and choose Add device.
- Put the glasses in the case, wait for the blue pairing light or hold the case button for at least five seconds, and complete setup.
App labels can move after an update, so look for the equivalent of Your glasses, General and Unpair if the wording differs. This procedure is preferable to a factory reset because it removes the account and Bluetooth links without deleting captures.
Use unpair-and-re-pair when the app connection is stale or when a restart did not recover a known setup. Do not skip directly to a factory reset just because the glasses still appear in Bluetooth settings; a saved phone entry is precisely the situation where removing the old association and repeating the app setup can help.
Factory reset only as a last resort
A factory reset permanently erases captures stored on the glasses and removes their associations with the Meta account. It also means the glasses must be set up again. Save or import anything you need before proceeding.
Ray-Ban’s FAQ warns: “When Ray-Ban Meta glasses go through a factory reset, it permanently erases all captures and any associations between the glasses and your Meta Account.”
For the documented Ray-Ban Meta procedure:
- Close the right temple arm.
- Press the capture button five times. The user LED should turn orange.
- Press and hold the capture button until the LED flashes.
- Release the button and wait while the LED cycles through white and green before the glasses turn off.
- After the reset completes, remove any old Bluetooth entry, open the Meta AI app and use Add device to pair again.
Button timing and LED behavior can differ by generation and region. If your glasses do not show the expected colors, stop and use the instructions for that exact model rather than repeating the sequence. Do not confuse this operation with a restart or force restart.
When an account change requires a reset
Ray-Ban states that its Meta glasses can pair with only one Meta account at a time. A person taking over previously owned glasses, or switching them to a different account, may therefore need a factory reset. The capture-loss warning still applies.

This one-account limit is different from a phone Bluetooth entry. Forgetting the device on a phone clears that phone-side association; it does not by itself change which Meta account the glasses are associated with. If the glasses belong to another account, follow the official reset guidance for the exact generation and understand that stored captures will be erased.
If the glasses connect but Bluetooth keeps dropping
Improve the radio link
- Keep the phone close, preferably in front of you or in a front pocket.
- Disconnect other Bluetooth devices temporarily.
- Restart the glasses before repeating a call or media session.
These steps address an active Bluetooth connection error; they do not replace the app-based pairing process. Test with fewer nearby Bluetooth connections and the phone close to the glasses. If the problem is that the glasses never show during setup, return to the blue pairing-light and Add device instructions instead.
Android video-call sharing problems
For an Android video call in which the glasses’ view will not share, Ray-Ban’s FAQ recommends turning phone Wi-Fi on, turning a VPN off and turning the phone’s hotspot off. This is a narrow video-call scenario, not a universal fix for every pairing failure.
The same FAQ reports a view-sharing issue on Pixel phones running Android 14. Treat that as a reported compatibility condition rather than an explanation for all Android problems; operating-system and app support details can change. A view-sharing problem during a call is not the same symptom as failure to pair the glasses in the Meta AI app, so apply this specific advice only when that is the issue.
What the four recovery actions change
| Action | When to use it | Captures | Pairing/account effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal restart | Glasses suddenly stop responding or reconnecting | Preserved | Existing pairing remains |
| Force restart | Normal restart does not restore operation | Preserved | Existing pairing remains |
| Unpair and re-pair | App or Bluetooth association is stale | Preserved | App and phone links are removed, then created again |
| Factory reset | Last resort, account transfer or persistent setup failure | Permanently deleted | Account association is removed; full setup is required |
The important distinction is data loss. A normal restart and force restart preserve captures and keep the existing pairing. Unpairing removes links so setup can be repeated, but does not have the documented capture-erasing effect of factory reset. Factory reset is the only action in this sequence that Ray-Ban explicitly says permanently deletes captures and removes the Meta account association.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When the problem is not the phone
If charging, pairing mode, Add device, restart and unpair/re-pair all fail, the fault may be in the glasses, case or charging contacts. That possibility cannot be confirmed without inspection. Use the manufacturer’s warranty or service channel rather than installing generic Bluetooth “fix” software, buying an antenna booster or repeatedly factory-resetting the glasses.
If the case itself will not charge, repeat the cable-and-adapter checks and follow the official case troubleshooting instructions for your region. If the glasses still never appear after a confirmed charge and a blue pairing light, submit a warranty claim with the model, phone platform, app version and the exact step where setup stops. Ray-Ban directs users to its warranty claim portal when the prescribed connection steps do not resolve pairing. There is no basis for promising that a paid app, generic adapter or accessory will fix a persistent fault.
Before contacting support, note which part of the flow fails: whether the glasses charge, whether the case LED turns blue, whether the glasses appear within the discovery period, whether the app accepts the setup, and whether the issue occurs only during a particular connection such as video-call sharing. These observations help describe the fault without guessing whether a phone, case or glasses component is defective.

Checklist for a clean retry
- Identify the glasses model and whether the phone is an iPhone or Android device.
- Charge the case and glasses; remove the first-charge protective tab if present.
- Switch the glasses on and enable phone Bluetooth.
- Disconnect other Bluetooth accessories during the test.
- Place Ray-Ban Meta glasses in the case and confirm the blue pairing light.
- Hold the case button for at least five seconds if pairing mode does not begin.
- Wait up to 10 seconds, then use the Meta AI app’s Settings > Add device.
- On iPhone, use Forget This Device; on Android, remove the old entry if discovery remains stuck.
- Try a normal restart, then a force restart if necessary.
- Unpair in Settings > Your glasses > General > Unpair glasses before attempting a new pairing.
- Factory-reset only after protecting your captures and confirming that the instructions match your generation and region.
- Contact warranty support if the glasses remain undiscoverable.
Keep the order: power and Bluetooth first, pairing mode and app setup next, restarts before unpairing, and factory reset only after the less destructive steps fail. If the glasses are not Ray-Ban Meta, stop before the Ray-Ban button sequences and use the manufacturer’s instructions for your model.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do my Ray-Ban Meta glasses show in Bluetooth but not connect to the app?
The phone may have an old Bluetooth association. Remove the existing entry—on iPhone, choose Forget This Device in Bluetooth settings; on Android, do so if the old entry is present and discovery remains stuck. Then put the powered-on glasses in their case, confirm the blue pairing light and add them through Settings > Add device in the Meta AI app.
Do I pair Ray-Ban Meta glasses from Bluetooth settings or the Meta AI app?
Complete setup through the Meta AI app’s Settings > Add device flow. Bluetooth settings can show or remove an existing phone-side association, but Ray-Ban’s setup instructions direct users to add the glasses in the companion app.

What does the blue light on the charging case mean?
A flashing or pulsing blue case LED indicates that Ray-Ban Meta glasses are ready to pair. If pairing mode does not start automatically, hold the button on the back of the case for at least five seconds, then allow up to 10 seconds for discovery.
Will restarting my glasses delete photos or captures?
Ray-Ban says a normal restart and a force restart preserve captures and do not require pairing again. A factory reset is different: it permanently deletes captures stored on the glasses and removes the Meta account association.
When should I factory-reset Ray-Ban Meta glasses?
Only after charging, pairing mode, app setup, restart and unpair/re-pair have failed, or when an account transfer requires it. The reset permanently deletes captures, so save anything needed first and follow the instructions for the exact generation and region.
Can Ray-Ban Meta glasses be connected to more than one Meta account?
Ray-Ban says the glasses can pair with only one Meta account at a time. A transfer to another account may require a factory reset, which also erases captures.

What if the glasses’ view will not share during an Android video call?
For this specific video-call sharing problem, Ray-Ban recommends turning phone Wi-Fi on, VPN off and hotspot off. The FAQ also reports a view-sharing issue on Pixel phones running Android 14; this is not a general explanation for pairing failures.
What if none of the pairing steps work?
After checking charge, pairing mode, app setup, restart and app/Bluetooth unpairing, contact the manufacturer’s warranty or service channel. A hardware fault is possible but cannot be confirmed without inspection.
The Bottom Line
For Ray-Ban Meta glasses, confirm power and Bluetooth, look for the blue case pairing light, then complete setup in the Meta AI app. Restart and unpair before considering a factory reset; the reset permanently deletes captures. For another brand or generation, use its own support instructions, and contact warranty support if the prescribed steps fail.
