If your Lenovo tablet is not charging, connect it directly to a compatible wall charger, leave it powered off or idle for 10–15 minutes, and test the cable and adapter as a pair. A deeply depleted battery can take several minutes before the charging icon appears. If the tablet still shows no battery icon or will not power on after charging overnight, stop swapping parts and arrange Lenovo service.
This sequence separates a depleted battery, weak or damaged charging equipment, heavy power use, and a possible tablet fault without assuming that every Lenovo model uses the same connector or adapter.
What to do first when a Lenovo tablet will not charge
Follow these checks in order. They begin with the causes you can verify without opening the tablet or buying parts.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Inspect the charging setup. Look at the wall adapter, cable, and tablet connector for bent parts, cracks, fraying, looseness, scorch marks, or other visible damage. Do not use visibly damaged charging equipment.
- Use wall AC power. Connect the tablet directly to a working wall adapter that is specified for your exact Lenovo model. Do not use a computer USB port as your diagnostic power source when the model’s instructions call for an AC adapter.
- Leave the tablet off or idle. If the battery may be completely empty, wait at least 10–15 minutes before deciding that it is not charging. Lenovo says the battery icon may take that long to appear, depending on the remaining charge. See Lenovo’s Android tablet troubleshooting guide.
- Try a known-good cable and adapter together. A low-output or failing charger can make charging very slow or fail to provide enough power. Change both pieces for the test rather than assuming the cable alone is at fault.
- Check whether the tablet can start. Once it has had time on the charger, use the normal power control. Lenovo’s Android guidance says a depleted device should charge for at least two minutes before you attempt to turn it on; see Lenovo’s battery and shutdown guidance.
- Escalate if the official threshold is reached. If there is still no battery icon and the tablet will not power on after charging overnight, arrange service rather than repeatedly purchasing chargers or attempting an unsupported repair.
Why a Lenovo tablet may appear not to charge
The battery is deeply depleted
A tablet that has been stored at zero percent can remain on a blank screen immediately after you plug it in. The charging circuit may need several minutes before it can display an icon. Lenovo’s troubleshooting guide specifically says that a battery icon should appear to indicate charging, but that it can take 10–15 minutes depending on the battery charge. A dark display during the first few minutes is therefore not, by itself, proof of a failed battery or port.

The charger cannot supply the tablet’s required power
Chargers are not interchangeable simply because their plugs look alike. Lenovo advises using the charger supplied with the tablet where possible and warns that a weak charger can take longer or may not supply enough power. The relevant specification is the one for your model, including connector, voltage, current, and any charging standard the tablet accepts.
The tablet is using power as fast as it receives it
Streaming video, gaming, navigation, high screen brightness, wireless activity, and other intensive use increase consumption. A tablet can therefore show very slow progress while it is busy, especially with a marginal adapter. Test with the tablet powered off or doing as little as possible so that you measure the charger’s ability to replenish the battery rather than the balance between charging and use.
A cable, adapter, or connector is damaged
Intermittent charging, a connector that feels loose, or an icon that appears and disappears when the cable moves points to a physical connection problem. Do not continue using equipment with visible damage. Use a known-good compatible cable and adapter as a matched pair for the comparison.

Detailed troubleshooting steps
1. Identify the exact tablet model
Find the model name and identifier on the rear label, packaging, original documentation, or the tablet’s settings if it can start. Record the complete identifier, not just “Lenovo Tab” or the screen size. Lenovo publishes accessory and charging information by model, and a specification for one tablet cannot safely be generalized to the entire lineup.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Use the model information when checking Lenovo’s support pages and when selecting replacement equipment. If you cannot identify the model while the tablet is off, do not guess from the shape of the connector alone.
2. Examine the adapter and cable
- Check the adapter housing for cracks, heat damage, bent prongs, or a loose cable socket.
- Check the cable jacket and both ends for cuts, exposed conductors, crushed sections, bent contacts, or a connector that no longer fits firmly.
- Check the tablet connector for obvious physical damage or a fit that is unusually loose.
- Remove damaged equipment from the test and use a known-good, compatible set instead.
Do not use a metal object in the connector and do not open the tablet to reach the battery. Those actions can create additional damage and are not part of Lenovo’s documented charging checks.
3. Connect directly to a wall adapter
Plug the adapter into a reliable wall outlet and connect it directly to the tablet. For diagnosis, avoid hubs, monitor ports, power banks, extension arrangements of uncertain quality, and a computer’s USB socket unless the exact Lenovo instructions for your model specify that source. The aim is to remove variables and provide the AC input Lenovo expects.
Use the adapter that came with the tablet when available. Lenovo’s hardware battery guidance says, “It is best to use the Lenovo charger that came with your tablet.” The guidance is available at Lenovo’s battery-operation support page.

4. Wait before interpreting a blank screen
Leave the tablet connected and powered off, or leave it idle if it cannot be switched off normally. Wait at least 10–15 minutes when the battery may be fully depleted. Look for the battery icon after that interval rather than checking only whether the screen lit immediately.
Do not treat the 10–15-minute interval as a universal charging time. It is Lenovo’s stated allowance for the charging indicator to appear in its Android tablet troubleshooting guidance, not a promise that every model reaches a particular percentage in that period.
5. Test a complete replacement charging set
If no indicator appears, replace the cable and wall adapter with a pair known to work with the exact tablet model. Testing one component at a time can leave a bad cable paired with a weak adapter and produce a misleading result. Confirm all of the following before connecting:

- The adapter’s voltage and current or power output match Lenovo’s specification for that model.
- The cable is undamaged and seats fully.
- The replacement is an original Lenovo part or an appropriately safety-certified product intended for the required charging standard.
Do not compare chargers by wattage alone. A higher number is not automatically compatible; the tablet must accept the relevant voltage, current, connector, and charging protocol.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
6. Start the tablet only after it has had time to charge
After at least two minutes on the charger, try to power it on. If it starts, open Quick Settings or go to Settings > Battery to check whether the system recognizes external power and whether the battery level is increasing. Keep the tablet idle while observing it so heavy use does not mask a normal but slow charge.
If it repeatedly shuts down or restarts while connected, document what appears on screen and which adapter-and-cable pair produced the result. Lenovo has separate guidance for automatic shutdown or restart on Android tablets at this support page.
Model-specific charger information: Lenovo Tab M10 (3rd Gen)
The Lenovo Tab M10 (3rd Gen), model identifiers TB328FU and TB328XU, is a useful example of why model matching matters. Lenovo’s FAQ lists a USB Type-C 2.0 charging cable measuring 1 metre and a 5V/2A adapter for that model family. Lenovo also notes that not every configuration includes those accessories. See the official Tab M10 (3rd Gen) FAQ.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems| Item | Tab M10 (3rd Gen) information | How to apply it |
|---|---|---|
| Model identifiers | TB328FU and TB328XU | Confirm that your tablet is one of these identifiers before using the specification. |
| Cable | USB Type-C 2.0, 1 m | Use a cable that fits correctly and is suitable for the tablet’s required charging connection. |
| Adapter | 5V/2A | Use this value only for the specified Tab M10 (3rd Gen) models, not as a lineup-wide Lenovo rule. |
| Accessory inclusion | Not every configuration includes the listed accessories | Check what came with your particular package and verify the model documentation before buying replacements. |
For a replacement search, a phrase such as Lenovo Tab M10 3rd Gen 5V 2A USB-C tablet charger can narrow results, but the listing still needs to match TB328FU or TB328XU and the required specifications. A generic USB-C charger should not be assumed compatible with every Lenovo tablet.

Diagnose the symptom you see
| Symptom | Most useful next check | What the result means |
|---|---|---|
| No icon immediately after plugging in | Leave the tablet off or idle on direct AC power for 10–15 minutes. | A deeply depleted battery may simply need time before the indicator appears. |
| Charging is very slow while the tablet is being used | Repeat the test with the tablet powered off or idle. | Usage may be consuming much of the incoming power. |
| Charging improves with another complete set | Retire the original cable, adapter, or both, subject to the exact model specification. | The original charging equipment was likely damaged, incompatible, or underpowered. |
| Icon appears and disappears when the cable moves | Stop using the suspect equipment and inspect the connector and cable for damage. | The connection may be physically unreliable; do not force or bend the plug. |
| No icon after 10–15 minutes and no startup after overnight charging | Contact Lenovo support or arrange service. | You have reached Lenovo’s documented escalation point for this symptom. |
When to stop troubleshooting and contact Lenovo
Lenovo’s Android tablet guide says to send the tablet, USB cable, and USB AC adapter for service when no battery icon appears after the initial charging interval and the tablet still will not power on after charging overnight. Include the exact model identifier and describe which known-good compatible charging set you tested. Supplying the cable and adapter lets the service provider evaluate the complete charging setup rather than only the tablet.
Start with Lenovo Support for current regional warranty, troubleshooting, and repair options. To locate a provider, use Lenovo’s repair-center and service-provider lookup instructions: enter the requested device information, then call ahead to confirm that the provider works on your tablet type.
What not to do
- Do not assume every Lenovo tablet uses USB-C. Confirm the connector and electrical specification for the exact model.
- Do not use the Tab M10’s 5V/2A figure for another tablet. It is a model-specific example, not a universal Lenovo requirement.
- Do not declare the battery or port defective because the screen stays dark for a few minutes. Allow the documented 10–15-minute indicator window first.
- Do not keep using visibly damaged cables or adapters. Replace them with equipment that matches the model.
- Do not rely on wattage alone when comparing chargers. Connector, voltage, current, charging standard, cable condition, and safety certification all matter.
- Do not open the tablet or attempt a battery replacement as a first response. Persistent symptoms should go through Lenovo support or an appropriate service provider.
- Do not treat a computer USB port as equivalent to a wall adapter. Use the power source specified for the model during diagnosis.
Choosing a replacement charger safely
If the original equipment is missing, damaged, or suspected to be underpowered, compare a replacement against these four checkpoints:
Recommended Free Tools
- Exact model and connector: Match the tablet’s full model identifier and physical connector.
- Electrical output: Confirm Lenovo’s stated voltage and current or power requirements for that model.
- Cable quality and fit: Select an undamaged cable that seats securely and supports the tablet’s charging requirement.
- Provenance and safety: Prefer the original Lenovo accessory or an appropriately safety-certified equivalent from a reputable source.
Keep the tablet’s documentation or model number beside you while shopping. If a product listing does not state compatibility with your identifier and the relevant output, it is not a sufficiently verified replacement.
Quick Recap
Preventing slow charging in normal use
- Keep the original Lenovo charger and cable together so their specifications remain associated with the tablet.
- Replace a cable at the first sign of exposed conductors, damaged connectors, or an unreliable fit.
- When you need to recover a very low battery, leave the tablet idle or powered off instead of running demanding apps.
- Label spare chargers by the model they support rather than treating all USB chargers as interchangeable.
- Keep the model identifier and Lenovo support link available so a future replacement can be checked against official documentation.
