If your GoPro LIT HERO won’t connect to the GoPro Quik app, start pairing from the camera’s Pair Device menu with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled on your phone. If that fails, clear the saved pairings and try again. Then check whether your phone and region support the camera’s default 5 GHz Wi-Fi band, and make sure the camera software is current.

Work through those checks in order: begin with the camera’s pairing flow, remove stale connections if a previous pairing may be interfering, and change the Wi-Fi band only if 5 GHz is not supported. GoPro’s detailed reset-and-retry procedure is for Android, so iPhone and iPad users should not treat Android settings instructions as an official iOS reset sequence. If the documented steps do not resolve the problem, contact GoPro support with your device and software details.

Pair the LIT HERO from the camera

Begin with the LIT HERO’s own pairing flow rather than relying on a saved phone connection. GoPro’s LIT HERO instructions say to open the camera Dashboard, select Pair Device, and then follow Quik’s on-screen prompts. This is the right first step whether you are pairing for the first time or starting over after a failed attempt.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Swipe down on the camera screen to open the Dashboard.
  2. Swipe left and tap Pair Device.
  3. On your phone, turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  4. Open GoPro Quik and follow the prompts to add or pair the camera.

Keep the camera on the Pair Device flow while you work through Quik’s prompts. If you have already tried to connect by selecting an old camera entry in the app, do not assume that repeating the same selection will repair the connection. If the camera does not appear or pairing stalls, use the clean-pairing steps below, then start again from the camera’s Pair Device screen.

Rugged, bright, and smartly designed—it’s a travel essential for creators who never stop moving.

After the initial pairing, the LIT HERO manual says the camera and app should sync when both are on and wireless connections are enabled. In other words, if a camera has paired before but is not syncing now, first check that both devices are on and that wireless connections are enabled. If the camera never completes its first pairing, focus on the Pair Device flow and the stale-connection reset rather than treating it as a post-pairing sync issue.

It is useful to describe exactly what happens: whether the camera never appears in Quik, appears but will not pair, or pairs but does not sync afterward. Those are distinct observations to report if you need support, but none alone proves the camera has a hardware fault.

Clear old connections and pair again

GoPro’s detailed connection-reset procedure applies specifically to Android. It recommends resetting the camera’s connections, deleting GoPro camera records from the phone’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings, removing the camera from Quik, restarting the phone and camera, and pairing again. This removes stale records that can interfere with a fresh connection.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. On the LIT HERO, reset its saved connections using the camera’s reset-connections control.
  2. In Android settings, remove saved GoPro camera entries from both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The exact labels and layout vary by Android version and phone manufacturer.
  3. In Quik, remove the saved camera entry.
  4. Restart the phone and the camera.
  5. Return to the camera’s Pair Device screen and start pairing in Quik again.

Complete the cleanup in each place GoPro identifies: the camera, the phone’s Bluetooth settings, the phone’s Wi-Fi settings, and Quik. Removing a record from only one location does not complete the documented Android reset sequence. Once those old entries have been removed and both devices have restarted, begin again through Pair Device instead of choosing an old saved entry.

Resetting camera connections clears saved device connections and resets the camera password. You will need to reconnect devices afterward. Treat this reset as a fresh start for saved connections, not as a way to preserve them while repairing only one phone’s record. If you use the camera with other devices, those connections will need to be established again.

GoPro’s cited detailed reset sequence is Android-specific; it does not establish an equivalent complete iOS procedure. If you use an iPhone or iPad, use the LIT HERO pairing instructions and Quik prompts, but do not assume the Android settings-removal steps are an official iOS sequence. The Android steps are still useful for Android owners because they specify where to remove camera records; the phone settings menus may look different across manufacturers and Android versions.

If you are unsure whether you have removed the right record on Android, look for GoPro camera entries in both the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings rather than assuming they are one shared item. Then remove the camera from within Quik as well. The reset-and-retry order matters: clear the old entries, restart the phone and camera, and then pair afresh.

Check the camera’s Wi-Fi band

The LIT HERO defaults to 5 GHz Wi-Fi. GoPro says to switch to 2.4 GHz if your phone or your region does not support 5 GHz; changing bands is a compatibility adjustment, not a required step for everyone. If both your phone and region support 5 GHz, the default setting is appropriate and there is no need to change it just because pairing has failed once.

  1. On the camera, open Dashboard > Connections > Wi-Fi Band.
  2. Use 5 GHz if your phone and region support it.
  3. If either does not support 5 GHz, select 2.4 GHz and try pairing again.

This setting addresses band compatibility. It is not evidence by itself that the camera or phone is defective. If you are unsure whether your phone or region supports 5 GHz, check the phone manufacturer’s specifications or local wireless requirements rather than guessing. The relevant decision is simple: keep 5 GHz when it is supported by both; use 2.4 GHz if either the phone or region does not support the default band.

Changing to 2.4 GHz is a targeted check, not a universal fix. If 5 GHz is supported, switching bands without a compatibility reason adds another change without addressing the documented cause. If you do switch to 2.4 GHz, return to Pair Device and retry pairing so you can tell whether the compatibility adjustment helped.

Keep this check separate from the Android cleanup. The band setting applies to the camera’s Wi-Fi compatibility; removing records from Android Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings clears old pairings. If you have reason to do both, finish the clean-pairing sequence and use a supported band before attempting the fresh pairing.

Check for a LIT HERO firmware update

GoPro’s LIT HERO firmware page lists version v2.10.00, dated April 14, 2026. GoPro documents updating through Quik or manually. The camera manual says the camera must be updated before use. Because the Quik update route may require the connection that is failing, the manual route is an alternative when app access is blocked; it is not a guaranteed fix for a pairing fault.

Rugged, bright, and smartly designed—it’s a travel essential for creators who never stop moving.
  • If Quik connects: use GoPro’s Quik update route and follow the prompts.
  • If Quik cannot connect: follow GoPro’s manual LIT HERO update instructions.

Use GoPro’s current LIT HERO update instructions for the route you choose. The manual route is relevant when app pairing prevents an in-app update, but it should not be presented as proof that the cause of the connection problem is old firmware. Updating is a software check and an available maintenance route, not a substitute for clearing stale pairings or checking whether the Wi-Fi band is compatible.

During an update, do not remove the SD card. The LIT HERO manual warns that removing it during the update may permanently damage the camera. Do not interrupt the process; let the update finish according to GoPro’s instructions. Take that warning seriously even when you are using the manual update route because Quik is unavailable.

When considering the version number, use GoPro’s LIT HERO firmware page rather than assuming that another camera model’s update applies. The version listed there is v2.10.00 | April 14, 2026. GoPro also provides the two routes described above: Quik when app access is available, or manual instructions when it is not. If you cannot tell whether the camera is current, check the camera’s firmware information and compare it with GoPro’s LIT HERO update page.

A practical order for trying the fixes

To avoid changing several settings at once and losing track of what helped, use a sequence. First open Pair Device on the camera, make sure the phone has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on, and follow Quik’s prompts. If a prior pairing is saved and that attempt does not work, Android users can perform GoPro’s full connection reset and retry. Next check band support and select 2.4 GHz only if 5 GHz is unsupported by the phone or region. Finally, check firmware and choose the update route that is available.

  1. Start with the intended pairing flow. Open Dashboard, swipe left, tap Pair Device, turn on phone Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and follow Quik.
  2. Remove stale records if the first attempt fails. For Android, reset camera connections, remove GoPro records from Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings and Quik, restart both devices, and retry.
  3. Check compatibility. Keep the default 5 GHz band when supported; select 2.4 GHz if the phone or region does not support 5 GHz.
  4. Check the software. Use Quik to update if it connects, or GoPro’s manual update instructions if it does not.
  5. Escalate if unresolved. Give GoPro support the exact symptoms and device/software details listed below.

This order separates the basic setup from the Android-specific reset and the compatibility and software checks. It also avoids assuming that a failed first attempt means a part must be replaced. The steps GoPro identifies are pairing, saved connection cleanup, band compatibility, software updates, and support escalation.

When to contact GoPro support

If pairing still fails after the connection reset and retry, GoPro’s Android troubleshooting guidance recommends contacting support. Before contacting them, gather the details that help support distinguish a pairing issue from a version or compatibility problem:

  • The steps you tried and what happened at each step.
  • Your camera model and firmware version.
  • Your phone model and mobile operating system version.
  • Your carrier and Quik version.

Describe the failure precisely—for example, whether the camera is missing from Quik, appears but will not pair, or pairs but does not sync. Include whether you used the camera’s Pair Device flow, whether you cleared saved connections, and whether you changed Wi-Fi bands because 5 GHz was unsupported. These details let support understand which documented checks you already completed without having to guess.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not conclude that the camera has a hardware fault from a failed app connection alone: the documented steps focus on wireless settings, saved pairings, and software, and do not diagnose hardware failure. If you contact support, report what you observed rather than labeling the cause. For example, say that the camera is not appearing in Quik after the clean-pairing sequence, or that it pairs but does not sync when both devices are on and wireless connections are enabled.

Have the firmware version available even if you are not certain whether it is current. The LIT HERO firmware page lists v2.10.00 dated April 14, 2026, while the phone details should include the model, operating system version, carrier, and Quik version. Support can then consider the camera and phone software together with the exact sequence you tried.

What not to buy for this connection problem

GoPro’s documented pairing remedies are settings, clearing saved connections, restarting, and updating software. The available instructions do not establish that replacing a battery, cable, SD card, or reader—or buying a repair tool—fixes this app connection symptom. Keep troubleshooting focused on wireless pairing unless support identifies a separate problem.

There is no documented accessory purchase in these steps. A new cable, replacement battery, SD card or reader, or repair tool is not presented as a remedy for a LIT HERO that will not connect to Quik. Likewise, a failed pairing by itself does not establish that a repair is needed. Start with the free checks in this guide and seek support if they do not resolve the connection.

The Bottom Line

Start from Dashboard > Pair Device with phone Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on. If you use Android and pairing still fails, clear the camera, phone, and Quik records, restart both devices, and pair again. Keep 5 GHz if supported; choose 2.4 GHz only when the phone or region does not support 5 GHz. If needed, update through Quik or GoPro’s manual instructions, keeping the SD card in place throughout the update. If those steps fail, contact GoPro with the camera, phone, software, and troubleshooting details.
