If your boat worked before but is now beached, step out, equip your fists, and repeatedly left-click the hull toward open water. If you have never been able to use the boat, pushing will not help: progress through the Lighthouse Keeper and Spider Crab quest chain to earn the Boat Key. A reset option may also be available in the Escape menu.
First, identify which boat problem you have

These are separate situations: a beached boat needs recovery, while a locked boat requires quest progress.
Push a beached boat back into the water
- Leave the driver position and step onto shore.
- Equip your fists and stand close to the hull.
- Repeatedly left-click the boat, aiming to move it toward open water. If it barely shifts, try pushing near a corner of the hull.
- In co-op, ask teammates to push with you. Coordinated pushes near a corner may help move it.
- Continue until the entire hull is floating, then board and take the controls again.
This sequence and the corner-push and co-op suggestions come from a NerdsChalk guide updated August 24, 2026; they are guide instructions, not a claim of independent testing. The developer’s GONE Fishing announcement feed also confirms that players can push a boat stuck on land.
Use the boat reset option if pushing does not work
The official announcement feed says clients can reset the boat using a button at the bottom right of the Escape menu. Open the menu and look for the labeled boat reset or unstuck option in your current build; menu labels and availability can change. The same feed says using the unstuck button no longer drops bait. It does not establish which patch introduced the feature, so there is no reliable patch number to cite.

Unlock boat access with the key quest
If the boat has never been usable because you lack the key, follow the progression route rather than trying to push it.
- Complete the Lighthouse Keeper’s request for beer.
- Use the Empty Beer Can to summon Spider Crab.
- Defeat Spider Crab and take its drop back to the Lighthouse Keeper.
- Complete the hand-in to receive the boat keys.
- Afterward, obtain the radar and follow the coordinates you are awarded for onward routing.
This progression is described by How to Fish Game Help, whose guide says it is source-based and not independently playtested; it was reviewed through Patch 1.0.9. The guide also warns that older shortcut clips may not reflect intended progression, citing a Patch 1.0.5 fix for unintended travel to locked islands.

Co-op considerations
Recovering a beached boat
The NerdsChalk guide recommends having teammates push at the same time, preferably near a hull corner. The official feed separately documents an Escape-menu reset option for clients. Check your own menu rather than assuming every build or session presents an identical label.
Progressing toward the key
For quest progress in co-op, How to Fish Game Help recommends using the host’s active quest state as the reference and finishing the item hand-in before the session changes. Treat this as that guide’s advice, not a verified multiplayer rule.

Version and availability note
The official announcement feed’s October 3, 2026 post said version 1.0 was planned for October 20, 2026. That was a future planned date in the information available through October 7, 2026, not confirmation that the release had occurred. Because the game is actively updated, use the current in-game menu and official announcements for present-day labels and release status.
