To finish the “Who Stole My Beer?” quest in How to Fish, give the Lighthouse Keeper a $12 Beer, use the Empty Beer Can he returns to summon Spider Crab, then bring the boss drop back to the Keeper. Complete the hand-in to receive the Boat Keys and unlock the route off the starting island.
Where to start the quest
After the tutorial, find the Lighthouse Keeper on the starting island and speak with him to begin the quest. The walkthroughs from NerdsChalk and Gamepur place the opening conversation there.
Buy Beer and get the Empty Beer Can
- Buy a Beer in the in-game shop. NerdsChalk reports its price as $12; prices may change between game builds, so check the current shop listing.
- Take the Beer to the Lighthouse Keeper and give it to him. Do not consume it first.
- Take the Empty Beer Can he gives you. You need this specific item for the next part of the quest.
Equip the can and summon Spider Crab
Use the Empty Beer Can as your lure. The guides report that ordinary lures will not summon Spider Crab. Follow the current on-screen prompt to attach or equip the can, then use it to trigger the encounter.

Prepare for the Spider Crab fight
Gamepur recommends buying an in-game Knife before casting and reports a price of $45. Treat that as guide advice, not a required quest item; check the current shop and encounter prompts, since item prices and combat details can change.

Walkthroughs describe different tactics: one advises dodging and attacking from behind, while another points to attacking during a stun window. Use the cues in your current encounter rather than relying on one tactic as guaranteed.
Return the boss drop to the Keeper
After defeating Spider Crab, pick up the item the game drops. Guides use different names for it, including a shell, carcass, and “Spider Crab Solo,” so identify it by the item shown in your game rather than by a guide’s label. Bring the drop back to the Lighthouse Keeper and complete the dialogue. The hand-in awards the Boat Keys.

Use the Boat Keys
The keys unlock the boat and let you progress beyond the starting island. If you have defeated Spider Crab but do not have the keys, check that you collected the boss drop and handed it to the Keeper; defeating the boss alone is not the final quest step.
