Hold the Line is a semi-open Act 2, Chapter 2 mission that moves through several districts of Kalona. Follow the main orders, explore each area as it opens, and clear the first district before entering the courthouse: that threshold cuts off access to the earlier map area, according to QuestDuo’s October 3, 2026 walkthrough. Some optional content is gated by story progress, so revisit locations when new objectives appear.
How to approach the chapter
Pick up the city map early, then use its markers and proximity notifications to find optional objectives, Hard Cases, and Supply Caches. The chapter opens in sections as the story advances; you do not need to find everything on the first pass. QuestDuo reports 27 collectibles, 36 Hard Cases, 8 Supply Caches, and 7 secondary objectives for the chapter. Those are that guide’s counts, not publisher-confirmed totals, and Hard Cases are separate from standard collectibles.

The route below follows the main objectives in order and notes useful optional finds along the way. Locations and tactics are attributed to QuestDuo and FPSHUB, two third-party walkthroughs dated October 3 and October 7, 2026; they are not the result of direct gameplay testing. If a later game update changes a marker or route, use the current in-game map as your guide.

Get your orders and the city map
At the start, go down the nearby stairs to meet Russ and inspect the Supply Cache tutorial. Continue to Captain Grey and take the map from the table. The map and proximity notifications make it easier to find side content, although some finds only become available after later story progress.

Secure Octus Way Station
Head east to the station. Explore the opening area before entering if you want to clear its optional content. FPSHUB describes two ways to approach the entrance and favors the upper level for a sniper position; it also recommends picking up the Longshot. These are tactical preferences, not required steps.
The two optional objectives in this opening section are “The Vanguard” and “Trapped Family,” according to FPSHUB. QuestDuo places the Cinema Filmatica Magazine in the rear room of the car dealership where “The Vanguard” begins, “A Letter Home” inside Last Dollar during “Trapped Family,” and the Thrashies Cereal Box on the gas station counter. A Hard Case is behind a bus, according to FPSHUB.

Use the cache and search the newly opened district
After securing the station, return to the Supply Cache, choose Tactical Gear, and adjust your weapon mods before heading south to the Muster Point. QuestDuo lists a Kalona Postcard on the ground beside a stone bench outside the station and a Vandalized Salvaging Poster in the back room of Major Burger opposite it. It also places COG Tags of Private Liz Waxman on a first-floor scaffolding balcony and an Emgazi Blitz Display Case in a top-floor bedroom in the same apartment building. The Tales of the Tyran Night Story Book is in an apartment reached by climbing scaffolding; this is also the area for the “Apartment SOS” prompt.

FPSHUB presents the Adrenaline Injector and Sonic Disruptor as Tactical Gear choices that suit different play styles. Its guide highlights the Disruptor’s stun effect against the Bilefrog later in the chapter; there is no single loadout established as best for every difficulty or player.

Investigate the Muster Point and fight the Bilefrog
Inspect the bodies at the Muster Point to trigger the encounter. QuestDuo describes a corrosive-frog mini-boss, additional enemies, and another frog. Its guide recommends explosives and firing when the creature opens its mouth. FPSHUB calls the enemy a Bilefrog and suggests using the Sonic Disruptor to create an opening; it also notes that Boomshots can deal heavy damage. Treat these as options rather than guarantees.

Secure the Imulsion stockpile
Travel east to the Amberstone Storage Facility and clear the enemies around it before entering the warehouse. Investigate the bodies when prompted, then locate the marked container among the containers outside. Enter the code provided by Control; when the sequence begins, run to get clear. FPSHUB also describes the keyed shipment container and the need to leave after entering the code.

Get Mags’ medicine and search the Bank of Tyrus
Visit the Envoy Hotel for the story sequence; the Photograph and Harmonica are awarded automatically, according to QuestDuo. Then go to the Bank of Tyrus and follow the employee and manager. Defend the bank, then return to the vault switch. QuestDuo places Dr. Dalia Fabbri in the vault along with a War Savings Bond and a Hard Case.

Clear the construction site
Secure the lower floors before climbing the upper levels. Use the scaffolding and rope ascents to move upward; FPSHUB describes a route via rappel lines, around the outside platform, and up to the roof, and recommends a sniper rifle. QuestDuo places the Foreman’s Datapad on the first floor, at the back-left from the main entrance.

Finish the earlier district before entering the courthouse
Before crossing into the courthouse, return to any optional locations in the previous map section that you still want to explore. QuestDuo warns that entering the courthouse prevents you from returning to that earlier area. Since some content is story-gated, check the map and nearby notifications before you cross the threshold.

Defend the courthouse
Help Charlie Squad hold against attacks from multiple directions. Use nearby supplies and consider placing a Sentry for supporting fire, as QuestDuo suggests. That guide estimates the defense at roughly five minutes, but this is an approximate guide estimate, not a fixed timer.

Find Whiskey Squad and support Cpl. Harris
Head west toward the park. QuestDuo lists optional finds around the library, general store, park, and newsstand, along with the “Lone Wolf” objective in an apartment building. At Kalona Hotel, clear hostiles and meet Cpl. Harris, then repel the follow-up attack. Before continuing upward, take the Portrait of Chairman Tomas Dalyell outside the hotel elevator doors; QuestDuo says it is there before the rope ascent.

End the chapter at the Mausoleum
Patch into the field relay, then proceed to the Mausoleum and help the ambushed Gears. Defeat the enemies there to complete Hold the Line.

Combat choices that can make the route easier
- At Octus Way Station: the upper-level approach provides a potential sniper position, while the Longshot is an optional pickup, according to FPSHUB.
- At the Bilefrog: explosives, the Sonic Disruptor, Boomshots, and shots into the creature’s open mouth are guide-suggested approaches from QuestDuo and FPSHUB.
- At the bank: the stair landing can serve as a choke point against Tickers, according to FPSHUB.
- At the courthouse: a Sentry can add supporting fire during the defense, according to QuestDuo.
These walkthroughs offer tactics, not a tested universal build. Choose Tactical Gear and weapons around your preferred combat distance and adapt to the encounter.
