In Valor Mortis, the Weathered Key is outside the house where the Lullaby quest begins, not in the locked house it eventually opens. Start at the Fallen Village Marketplace lantern, enter the nearby house by the water, approach the empty crib, then leave through the back door to collect the key. Use it on the house across the river, take the Toy from its bed, and return the Toy to the crib. Completing that sequence awards Tomorrow’s Promise Amber.
Quick route to the Weathered Key and Lullaby reward
- Travel to Fallen Village > Marketplace and use the lantern as your starting point.
- Move toward the water, using the flames visible in the distance as a landmark.
- Enter the nearby house and approach the empty crib. This starts Lullaby automatically.
- Leave through the house’s back door and pick up the Weathered Key on the ground near the enemies.
- Go back toward the lantern and follow the path to the previous area.
- After passing the Volunteer, turn right and follow the path to the house across the river.
- Jump across the river, unlock the door with the Weathered Key, and take the Toy from the bed inside.
- Return to the house with the empty crib and interact with it to place the Toy. The quest ends and you receive Tomorrow’s Promise Amber.
There is no documented alternate key, NPC exchange, or different reward for this quest. The route is a single loop: crib, back door, key, river house, Toy, crib.
Where Lullaby begins
Use the Fallen Village Marketplace lantern
Fast-travel or otherwise navigate to the Marketplace lantern in the Fallen Village. The area matters because Fallen Village is identified as Chapter 3: Rendezvous in the chapter collectible guide. If you are searching another village or another lantern, you are not at the quest’s documented starting point.

You should be able to see flames in the distance. Those flames are the most useful visual landmark for locating the starting house; the quest does not begin at the lantern itself.

Find the house with the empty crib
Enter the house near the water and look for the empty crib. Walking up to the crib starts Lullaby automatically. No conversation, item, or separate quest-board interaction is required before this trigger. If the quest has not appeared, make sure you have actually approached the crib inside the correct house rather than stopping outside or entering a different building.
The crib is also your return point. Remember its position before leaving, because the final interaction takes place in this same room.
Step 1: Trigger the quest at the crib
Once you are inside the house near the water, approach the empty crib until the interaction activates. The automatic trigger establishes the objective that leads to the Weathered Key and the Toy. You do not need to search the village for a child, a note, or a merchant to begin this part of the quest.

After the trigger, orient yourself toward the house’s exits. The key is not in the crib room and is not inside the locked destination house. It is outside, reached through the back door of this starting house.
Step 2: Collect the Weathered Key
Leave through the back door
Exit the crib house through its back door. The correct route is important: the Weathered Key is on the ground outside this rear exit, near enemies. If you leave by another opening and begin searching the village streets, you can pass the key’s location without seeing it.
Pick up the key near the enemies
Search the ground immediately around the enemies outside the back door. The Weathered Key is a pickup, so move close enough for the interaction prompt and collect it. The available walkthroughs place the item in this area rather than inside an enemy’s inventory or behind a second locked door.

After collecting it, verify that the key has been added to your inventory before moving on. The next house cannot be opened with a different quest item, and returning to the crib without the key does not advance the route.

Step 3: Reach the locked house across the river
Return toward the Marketplace lantern
From the key’s location, turn back toward the Marketplace lantern and follow the path toward the previous area. This is a retracing step rather than a new exploration branch. Staying on the path helps you avoid circling the water or returning to the wrong building.
Use the Volunteer as the turning landmark
Continue until you pass the Volunteer. Immediately after passing this landmark, turn right. Follow that path toward the house on the opposite side of the river. The Volunteer is the route cue given for this turn; if you have not reached that point, do not cross the water yet.
Jump across the river
At the river, use the available jump to reach the far bank and the house beyond it. The documented sequence treats the crossing as part of the normal route, not as a separate puzzle. Position yourself at the bank, make the jump, and approach the locked door on the other side.
If you land short of the opposite bank, return to the approach point and try the jump again rather than looking for another key. The route identifies this house as the destination for the Weathered Key.
Step 4: Unlock the house and take the Toy
Use the Weathered Key on the door
Interact with the door of the house across the river and select the Weathered Key when prompted. This is the only documented use for the key in Lullaby. A door that remains locked usually means you are at a different building or did not successfully collect the key outside the crib house.

Take the Toy from the bed
Once inside, go to the bed and collect the Toy. The Toy is the quest item that must be returned to the empty crib. Search the bed area rather than the rest of the village; the walkthrough route places the item inside this unlocked house.
With the Toy collected, the objective changes from finding the item to returning it. Leave the house and retrace the route back across the river, past the Volunteer, and toward the starting house near the water.
Step 5: Return the Toy to the crib
Go back to the original house
Return to the house where you first approached the empty crib. The destination is not the river house where you found the Toy. If you are unsure which building is correct, use the water and flame landmarks from the opening route and look for the crib room you visited at the start.
Interact with the crib
Approach the crib and interact with it while carrying the Toy. This places the Toy in the crib and completes Lullaby. The quest does not finish merely by picking up the Toy; the final crib interaction is required.
Claim the reward
Completion awards Tomorrow’s Promise Amber. This is the documented reward for finishing the sequence. No second reward, vendor exchange, or branching choice is described for this quest.
Navigation details that prevent the most common mistakes
Do not search the locked house for the key
The Weathered Key is obtained before you reach the river house. Its location is outside the back door of the crib house, on the ground near enemies. The river house is the place you open with the key, not the place where you find it.

Do not leave the Toy at the river house
The Toy’s purpose is tied to the crib in the starting house. After picking it up from the bed, continue the return journey. There is no documented completion interaction at the river house.
Keep the two houses separate in your mental map
- Starting house: near the water and flames, contains the empty crib, and has the Weathered Key outside its back door.
- Destination house: across the river after the right turn beyond the Volunteer, contains the bed with the Toy.
Confusing these buildings is the most likely reason the quest feels circular: each house has one half of the objective, and the crib is both the beginning and the end.

The quest did not start
- Confirm that you are in Fallen Village > Marketplace, not another area.
- Use the Marketplace lantern as your reference point and walk toward the water.
- Enter the house near the flames and approach the empty crib directly.
- If you stopped at the doorway, move fully into the room and interact with the crib.
The documented trigger is proximity to the empty crib. It does not require a separate NPC conversation.
The Weathered Key is missing
- Check that you exited through the starting house’s back door.
- Search the ground outside that door, around the nearby enemies.
- Confirm the pickup interaction completed and that the item is in your inventory.
The key is not documented as a random drop or a reward from the Volunteer, so searching those locations will not replace the back-door pickup.
The river house door will not open
- Make sure you followed the path back toward the lantern and turned right after passing the Volunteer.
- Verify that the door belongs to the house across the river.
- Recheck your inventory for the Weathered Key.
- If the prompt does not appear, move close to the door and try the interaction again after confirming the key pickup.
The route contains one key-and-door pairing: the key from the crib house opens the house across the river.
You cannot find the Toy
After unlocking the destination house, inspect the bed. The Toy is placed on the bed inside, not outside the building or at the riverbank. Leave only after the pickup registers.

The quest remains unfinished after finding the Toy
Finding the Toy is not the final step. Return to the first house and interact with the crib. The completion trigger is the placement of the Toy in that crib.

- Empty crib approached and Lullaby started.
- Back door used to reach the key area.
- Weathered Key picked up from the ground near the enemies.
- Path retraced toward the lantern.

- River crossed to the opposite house.
- Weathered Key used on the door.
- Toy collected from the bed.
- Original crib revisited.
- Toy placed in the crib.
- Tomorrow’s Promise Amber received.
What is and is not known about alternate solutions
The available Lullaby walkthroughs describe the same four-part progression: start at the crib, collect the key behind the house, open the river house, and return the Toy to the crib. They do not identify a shortcut, a second key location, a different Toy location, or a choice that changes the reward. Treat the sequence above as the established route rather than waiting for a branching objective.
The route is documented by two PowerPyx walkthrough pages published on October 13, 2026. Both agree on the locations and order described here. No official game guide or independent publisher confirmation is identified for this quest, so minor environmental details could differ after a future game update; the object sequence and reward presented above are the points those walkthroughs share.

Fallen Village is listed as Chapter 3: Rendezvous in the chapter collectible guide. That label can help you organize the quest alongside chapter-specific exploration, but it does not add another prerequisite to Lullaby. The quest’s documented start remains the empty crib in the house near the Marketplace water area.
Final route
Approach the empty crib in the Fallen Village Marketplace house, leave by the back door for the Weathered Key, then return toward the lantern and turn right after the Volunteer. Cross the river, unlock the opposite house, take the Toy from its bed, and bring it back to the original crib. Interacting with that crib completes Lullaby and awards Tomorrow’s Promise Amber.
