To find junk mail on a Samsung phone, first check which email app you use: Gmail and Samsung Email have different folder menus. In Gmail, open the top-left menu and tap Spam. In Samsung Email, open the top-left menu, expand the account you want, and tap Spam or Junk.
Find junk mail in Gmail
- Open the Gmail app.
- Tap the three-line menu at the top left.
- Scroll the menu if needed, then tap Spam.
To restore a legitimate message, open it, tap More (three dots), then Report not spam. Gmail removes it from Spam, and Google says future messages from that sender will not be sent to Spam after you take this action. To report an unwanted message from your inbox, open it and choose More > Report spam. Google says reported messages may be analyzed to help protect against spam and abuse. Google’s Gmail instructions for Android cover these steps.
Find junk mail in Samsung Email
- Open Email or Samsung Email.
- Tap the three-line menu at the top left.
- Expand the account whose messages you want to check.
- Tap Spam or Junk, depending on the account’s folder name and how it appears in the app.
To move a wanted message back to your inbox, open it and select Not spam. Samsung’s Samsung Email support instructions describe the spam-folder and recovery steps.
If the Spam or Junk folder is missing
In Samsung Email, check that you expanded the correct account. If the folder still is not listed, look for All folders. Samsung Email lets you manage which folders appear and their order; the route described in Samsung’s support guidance is to open the menu, go to Settings, then folder management. Labels and screens may vary by app version and device software.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.
- Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). Battery: 5000 mAh, non-removable | A power adapter is NOT included.
If the folder or expected message is still missing, check the email provider’s own app or website for that account. Samsung Email supports multiple providers, but the available documentation does not establish that every provider’s Junk folder will always sync or map identically in Samsung Email. Samsung’s support page on using Samsung Email notes that menus can vary by device model and software version. The app is also listed on Google Play.
Make sure you are in the right email app
A Samsung phone does not determine which email app you use. Look at the app name or search the phone for Gmail, Email, or the mail app you normally open. Samsung Email can handle accounts from providers such as Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft, so the account provider alone does not tell you which app is displaying your mail.

Handle suspicious messages carefully
A message appearing in Spam is not proof that it is safe. If an email looks suspicious, do not reply or follow its links, especially if it asks for personal information. Use the app’s spam or phishing reporting option instead. Google also says Gmail uses user reports to identify similar messages more efficiently.
