The right VALORANT sensitivity and crosshair are the ones you can control repeatedly, not the settings copied from a professional player. Keep your mouse DPI fixed, test small in-game sensitivity changes in a repeatable practice routine, and judge each setup by stopping accuracy, fine corrections, comfortable turning and consistency over several sessions. Build a simple, high-contrast crosshair, change one property at a time, and save useful versions in profiles so every comparison is reversible.
Riot describes settings as personal preference rather than prescribing a universal number. The steps below turn that principle into a practical calibration process while explaining eDPI, cm/360, crosshair profiles, import codes and the menu changes documented in recent patches.
What “right” means for your setup
A sensitivity is suitable when your hand can start, stop and correct a crosshair on demand. You should be able to make a small adjustment without repeatedly overshooting, turn far enough for normal play without running out of mouse space, and reproduce the same movement after a break. A crosshair is suitable when it remains visible against the maps and effects you actually play, gives you a clear center point and does not hide the target.

Start with measurements you can compare
Lock your mouse DPI while testing
Mouse DPI is the hardware sensitivity selected in your operating system or mouse software. In-game sensitivity is the value in VALORANT. If both values change between trials, you cannot tell which change caused a different result. Pick one DPI, record it, and leave it unchanged until you have finished a comparison.
Also keep other conditions stable where possible: use the same mouse, surface, polling setting, display and field of view, and avoid changing Windows pointer settings during the test. These controls make the comparison cleaner; they do not turn the routine into a laboratory experiment.
Calculate eDPI
eDPI is a convenient comparison number:
eDPI = mouse DPI × VALORANT in-game sensitivity
For example, 800 DPI at 0.35 sensitivity gives 280 eDPI (800 × 0.35 = 280). That arithmetic is an example, not a recommendation. Two players with the same eDPI can still prefer different grip styles, mouse shapes, resolutions, desk space and movement habits.
Use cm/360 when physical travel matters
Approximate cm/360 describes how many centimetres your mouse must travel for a full in-game turn. It communicates the physical feel more directly than a sensitivity number when comparing different DPI values. It is useful for checking whether a setup fits your available pad, but it also does not identify an ideal value for an individual.
Do not treat a calculator result or a popular community range as an official target. Use eDPI and cm/360 to describe a setup, then use repeatable play to decide whether you can control it.
A repeatable method for finding sensitivity
1. Record a baseline
Write down your mouse DPI, VALORANT sensitivity and calculated eDPI. Note whether the current problem is overshooting, undershooting, slow turns, or an inability to make small corrections. A written baseline prevents memory from favoring the newest setting.
2. Choose one starting value
Use your existing setting if it is reasonably familiar. If you are starting from scratch, select a moderate value that lets you move across your available pad without constantly lifting the mouse. There is no evidence-based universal starting number in the official material; the purpose of the first value is simply to provide a stable reference.

3. Create the same practice task each time
Use the practice range or a custom routine and repeat the same sequence for every trial. For example:

Place the crosshair on a target, move to a second target, stop, and make a small correction.

Repeat the sequence at several distances and from both sides of your starting point.

Perform controlled horizontal turns that use the same portion of your pad each time.

Finish with ordinary rounds or a match so you can check whether the setting remains usable while moving, clearing angles and reacting to threats.
This is a practical editorial method, not a Riot-defined benchmark. The value comes from repeating the same task rather than chasing a single impressive attempt.
4. Change only one variable
Keep DPI fixed and change in-game sensitivity in a modest step. Large jumps make it difficult to identify a comfortable range. After changing it, repeat the same task and note whether you stop on targets more reliably, make fewer emergency corrections and turn without running out of space.
5. Test across several sessions
Do not lock in a value because it feels exciting for five minutes. Use the candidate in multiple sessions, including ordinary rounds. Familiarity affects early impressions, so compare the settings after you have had enough time to perform the same movements without consciously thinking about the number.
6. Keep the better candidate and repeat
If the new value improves control, keep it as the baseline and make another small adjustment only if a specific problem remains. If it is worse, restore the previous value. The goal is a controllable range, not a numerically perfect setting.
Diagnose sensitivity by the mistake you see

The table suggests directions to test, not diagnoses. A sensitivity change cannot correct every problem: inconsistent grip pressure, an obstructed pad, fatigue or a crosshair that is hard to see can all look like aim trouble.
Make the physical setup fit the sensitivity
A lower sensitivity generally requires more physical travel for a given turn, while a higher sensitivity requires less. If you deliberately test a low setting, a larger mouse pad can be useful because it provides more travel room; it is an optional accessory, not a requirement or a Riot recommendation. Keep your forearm, wrist and shoulder position comfortable and leave enough clear space to reset the mouse without bumping the keyboard.
Do not change sensitivity to compensate for every missed shot. First ask whether the miss was a stopping error, a target-reading error, a visibility problem or an unavoidable reaction-time event. Change the setting only when the same movement error appears repeatedly under the same conditions.
Build a crosshair that stays readable
Start simple
Begin with a small, uncomplicated reticle. It should provide an obvious center without covering the head or body area you are trying to read. Extra lines, outlines, firing-error indicators and movement indicators can be useful for a particular player, but each added element can also create visual clutter. Add an element only when you can explain what information it supplies.
Prioritize contrast
Choose a color that separates from the maps, skyboxes and ability effects you commonly encounter. There is no universally best color in the official material. A color that is clear on one display or map can disappear into another background, so judge it in actual play rather than in a menu alone.
Control line dimensions and spacing
Adjust inner and outer line lengths, offsets, thickness and center-dot choices so the center remains clear at the distances you play. Riot’s documented customization includes separate horizontal and vertical line lengths, allowing you to correct a reticle that feels too wide or too tall without rebuilding it from scratch. Keep a change only if it improves target clarity or placement.

Test motion and effects
Look at the crosshair while strafing, clearing an angle, firing and viewing common ability effects. A reticle that looks perfect against a blank practice background may become hard to read during a round. Compare visibility, target obstruction and clarity during motion—the three practical axes that matter most.

Change VALORANT crosshair settings

Open VALORANT and select Settings.

Open the Crosshair area to edit the primary reticle.

Use the advanced controls for additional reticles, including ADS and sniper-scope crosshairs, when those options are available in your client.

Change one property, return to the practice range or a live round, and evaluate visibility and obstruction.

Save a useful version in a profile before trying a substantially different design.

Menu labels and layout can move between client updates. Riot reported a PC settings-screen refresh in Patch 12.07, dated April 14, 2026, so follow the labels in the current client if they differ from an older guide.
Use profiles, codes and copied reticles intelligently
Profiles make experiments reversible
Riot’s Patch 3.03 notes from 2021 documented saving and switching between crosshair profiles. Patch 5.04 in 2022 documented 15 available profiles, along with custom colors and separate horizontal and vertical line lengths. The exact number or presentation can change in later updates, but profiles remain the practical way to preserve a known-good setup while testing another.
Name profiles by purpose rather than by a vague label: for example, “main,” “high-contrast test” or “scope experiment.” Keep one untouched reference profile so an experiment never destroys your baseline.
Import and export a generated code
Patch 4.05 in 2022 added generated-code import and export. In the Crosshair settings, use the client’s import or export control to paste or copy the generated code. A code is a convenient starting point, not proof that the reticle will suit your display, map backgrounds or aiming habits. Inspect every property after importing and save the result to its own profile.

Patch 5.04 documented copying a spectated player’s reticle with /crosshair copy or the shorter /cc command. This is useful for collecting ideas during a match, but it does not make that player’s design optimal for you. Copy it into a separate profile, then run the same visibility and target-obstruction checks as any other candidate.
Compare two complete setups, not isolated numbers
When comparing sensitivity A and sensitivity B, keep DPI, crosshair, resolution and practice routine unchanged. Rate each setup against the same questions:

When comparing crosshair A and crosshair B, keep sensitivity fixed and ask:

Is the center visible against the backgrounds and effects you actually see?

Does the reticle cover less of the target or useful visual information?

Does it remain clear while moving and firing?
These comparison axes are practical synthesis, not a ranking published by Riot. A setup that wins one drill but fails during ordinary rounds is not an improvement.

The setting feels different after changing DPI
Recalculate eDPI and confirm the mouse software did not switch profiles. DPI and in-game sensitivity multiply together, so changing either changes the effective speed even if the other number remains on screen.
The imported code looks wrong
Confirm that the entire generated code was pasted into the client’s import field, then inspect color, outlines, line lengths, offsets and center-dot options. Save the imported version separately so you can return to your prior profile. If the current menu does not match an older instruction, use the live client’s Crosshair controls; Riot has changed the settings screen and reticle features over time.
The crosshair disappears in a match
Test it against bright and dark surfaces, ability effects and moving scenes. Increase contrast or simplify the design one property at a time. A color that is legible in the range may still blend into a particular map background or effect.

You keep changing settings without improving
Stop changing numbers for several sessions. Restore the last known baseline, use the same practice task, and record a specific error before making another small adjustment. Constant switching prevents the familiarity needed to judge control.
Your aim is inconsistent from day to day
Check physical space, grip pressure, posture, fatigue and the mouse surface before abandoning the sensitivity. If the same setup produces different results under different conditions, the number alone is not the established cause.

Change one setting at a time.

Test candidates in ordinary rounds over multiple sessions.

Judge sensitivity by stopping, correction, turning room and consistency.

There is no officially correct VALORANT sensitivity or crosshair code. Fix your DPI, measure setups with eDPI or cm/360, test modest changes in a repeatable routine and keep the value that you can control across real sessions. Pair it with a simple, contrasting crosshair, preserve variants in profiles, and use import or copy features only as convenient starting points.
