Start with your usual adidas size: adidas says Sambas generally run true to size, and the Samba OG product page says to order your usual size. The important exception is width. People with wider feet may prefer to go up half a size, but that is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Measure your foot and check the current adidas chart for your region before ordering, especially when comparing different sizing systems.
This guide separates length from width and explains how the Samba OG, Samba Classic, and Samba Jane differ. Official guidance comes from adidas’s Samba Size Guide (September 2025) and the Samba OG product page.
What adidas says about Samba sizing
Adidas describes Samba as generally true to size. Its official guide says, In general, Samba does run true to size and is accurate to the various measurement systems around the world.
That is the baseline recommendation, not a promise that every foot will feel identical in every Samba version.

The Samba OG product page gives the simplest instruction: True to size. We recommend ordering your usual size.
The same page describes a regular fit. Adidas’s guide adds an important qualification: the OG can feel narrow to people with wider feet, who may consider going up half a size.

Width is the recurring issue in the official advice. A half-size increase adds length as well as some extra volume; it is not a dedicated width setting and will not correct every pressure point. If your foot length already matches your usual size but the sides feel tight, investigate the model, lacing, and return policy rather than assuming a larger size is automatically correct.
Identify your Samba version before choosing a size
“Sambas” is not one single specification. The official guide gives separate notes for the OG, Classic, and Jane. Use the model name on the product listing or tongue label before applying a recommendation.
| Model | Official fit guidance | Width-related note | Construction detail that affects feel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samba OG | Regular fit; order your usual size. | Wider feet may consider going up half a size. | Soft leather upper with a suede T-toe. |
| Samba Classic | Choose your regular size. | Go up half a size for a wider fit if needed. | Elongated tongue allows more versatility in fit. |
| Samba Jane | Retains the measurements of other Samba sneakers. | Wider-footed wearers may consider sizing up. | Open Velcro-latch upper can provide more room over the top of the foot. |
These are adidas’s model notes, not individualized fitting results. A particular colorway, production run, sock combination, or foot shape can change how the shoe feels. Do not treat one model’s recommendation as proof that every Samba variant fits identically.
Measure your feet instead of guessing
Measuring is the most reliable way to resolve uncertainty between a familiar adidas size and a regional chart. You can do it at home with paper, a pencil, and a ruler or tape measure.

- Measure at the end of the day. Feet can be slightly larger after walking. Wear the type of socks you expect to wear with the Sambas.
- Place a sheet of paper on a hard floor. Sit or stand with your heel lightly against a wall. Standing reproduces the load on your foot more closely, so have another person mark the outline if possible.
- Mark heel and longest toe. Keep the pencil vertical rather than angled under the foot. Repeat for the other foot.
- Measure both outlines. Record heel-to-toe length and the broadest part of each foot. Use the larger foot when selecting a size; do not average the two measurements.
- Write down the result in the unit shown by your chart. Preserve the exact measurement instead of rounding it to a familiar whole number.
- Compare the measurement with the current regional adidas chart. Select the size whose charted foot length corresponds to the larger foot, then apply the width guidance for your Samba model.
The measurement answers a length question. It does not by itself predict how the sidewalls, toe box, or upper will feel, which is why width and model construction still matter.
Use the adidas chart for your region
Adidas warns that regional sizing systems differ and recommends measuring your foot and consulting the regional Samba chart when you are uncertain. Start with the market in which you are buying, not a conversion table copied from another retailer. A US size on a US product page should be checked against the US chart; a purchase in another market should use that market’s chart.
Do not invent a conversion when the chart does not give one. There is no universal conversion figure supplied by the official guide or product page, and neither source publishes a percentage of customers who should size up. If your measured length falls between two chart entries, keep the width of your foot and your desired room in the decision rather than relying on a memorized US-to-EU or US-to-UK equivalent.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSave or print the chart you used with your order details. If you later exchange the shoes in a different market, recheck that market’s chart instead of assuming the labels map one-for-one.

Decide whether your problem is length or width
Many “Do Sambas run small?” questions are actually width questions. Separate the symptoms before changing size.
| What you notice | What it suggests | Practical next step |
|---|---|---|
| Toes reach the front or curl when standing | Length may be insufficient. | Recheck the larger-foot measurement and the regional chart. Do not change size solely because the sides feel snug. |
| Length feels right, but the sides press or the forefoot feels cramped | Width or volume may be the issue. | For the Samba models covered by adidas’s guide, consider the half-size-up option for a wider fit, then verify that the added length does not create heel movement. |
| The upper presses across the top of the foot | Instep volume or closure design may matter more than length. | The Samba Jane’s open Velcro-latch upper may provide more room over the top; compare that construction before automatically sizing up. |
| Heel lifts while walking but the forefoot is already long enough | The shoe may be too long or not secured for your foot shape. | Try the correct charted size and adjust the closure. A larger size is unlikely to improve heel security. |
| You are between regional labels | The conversion, not the shoe, may be causing uncertainty. | Measure in the chart’s units and use the current adidas chart for the purchasing region. |
A half-size increase is therefore conditional. It is most relevant when your measured length supports the next size and you need additional room, not when a shoe is already too long or your heel is slipping.
How to apply the advice to each model
Samba OG
For the OG, begin with your usual adidas size. The US product page labels the fit true to size and recommends ordering that size. The guide describes the soft leather upper and suede T-toe, while noting that the overall shape can lean narrow for wider feet.

Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIf your foot is wide, compare your measurement with the regional chart and consider the next half size. Check the result for both length and heel security: the goal is enough forefoot room without creating a shoe that is visibly too long. If your foot is average width and your usual size matches the chart, there is no official reason to size up simply because online shoppers use the phrase “runs small.” Adidas’s own wording is generally true to size with a width caveat.

Samba Classic
Adidas’s Classic guidance starts with the regular size and allows a half-size increase for a wider fit. The elongated tongue gives more versatility in how the upper sits, so pay attention to pressure across the top of the foot as well as at the sides.
Measure in the socks you will wear and lace the shoe evenly when trying it on. A looser tongue position can change perceived pressure, but it does not change the charted length of the shoe. Choose the larger size only when the added room is useful and the resulting length remains appropriate.
Samba Jane
The Jane retains the measurements of other Samba sneakers, but its open Velcro-latch upper may offer more room over the top of the foot. That construction can make an otherwise similar length feel different at the instep.
Wider-footed wearers may still consider going up half a size under adidas’s guidance. Compare the room created by the closure with the measured width of your foot; a more adjustable upper may address top-of-foot pressure without requiring a longer shoe, while a genuinely broad forefoot can still justify evaluating the next half size.

Try the shoes on in a way that reveals fit problems
- Use the intended socks. Thin hosiery and thick athletic socks occupy different amounts of space. Test with the pair you normally plan to wear.
- Stand before judging length. Check both feet while bearing weight. Walk several steps, turn, and use stairs if available.
- Check the longest toe. Your toes should not be forced against the front or compressed by the toe shape. Compare both feet because one may be longer.
- Check the widest area. Look for sustained side pressure, pinching, or an upper that creases directly into a sensitive spot. Do not confuse normal contact with painful compression.
- Check the instep and closure. On a Classic, note how the elongated tongue sits. On a Jane, test the Velcro latch through its available adjustment. On any model, the fastening should hold the heel without forcing the forefoot.
- Walk on a clean indoor surface first. Keep the outsole and upper unmarked until you are satisfied, so the retailer’s exchange conditions remain available.
- Recheck after several minutes. A brief standing test can reveal pressure that is not obvious while seated. If discomfort remains in one exact area, changing length may not solve it.
Examples of common sizing decisions
Your usual adidas size feels right in length but narrow in the OG
Confirm that the measured foot length corresponds to that size on the current regional chart. If it does, the official width guidance supports considering the next half size. Try that size with your normal socks and reject it if the extra length causes heel movement or your foot slides forward.
You normally wear different labels in different regional systems
Do not choose by label memory. Measure both feet, identify the chart for the market selling the shoes, and match the larger measurement to that chart. The fact that a label looks numerically different does not establish that the shoe itself runs small.
The Jane feels comfortable over the instep but tight at the forefoot
Use the closure adjustment to confirm that the top-of-foot fit is not the problem. If side pressure remains, apply the same width decision used for the other Samba models and evaluate the half-size-up option against your measured length.
The Classic feels roomy on top but short at the toes
The elongated tongue can alter upper pressure, but it cannot add toe length. Recheck the larger foot’s measurement and compare it with the chart before changing size.
What the official evidence does—and does not—establish
Adidas’s September 2025 guide and the current US Samba OG page establish a clear starting point: usual size for most wearers, with a possible half-size increase for wider feet. They do not provide a published fit survey, laboratory measurement, or percentage showing how many buyers should size up. They also do not provide a universal conversion number across regional systems.
The OG product page used here was accessed on October 11, 2026 and does not state a publication date. Product availability, colorway, and size inventory can change, so verify the live listing and the applicable exchange terms when you order. The fit guidance remains a decision aid, not individualized medical or podiatric advice.
Quick Recap
A concise decision process
- Confirm whether you are buying the OG, Classic, or Jane.
- Measure both feet in your intended socks and keep the larger length and width.
- Open the current adidas size chart for the purchasing region.
- Use your usual adidas size as the starting point when the measurement agrees with it.
- If width is the problem, consider adidas’s half-size-up guidance, checking that the resulting length and heel security remain acceptable.
- Try the shoes indoors, standing and walking, before wearing them outside.
- Exchange rather than forcing a size that creates persistent toe, side, instep, or heel discomfort.
