The Clockwork Shardstone is reported as a chest reward in the Alchemist’s Workshop, reached by opening a route near Castigator’s Keep. The clearest commonly described path is to collect the Makeshift Projectile in the Outskirts of Mammon, fire it from the catapult, then enter the workshop. The Shardstone’s reported effect is to spend Resolve over time while the Clockwork Scythe’s chainsaw spins.
How to reach the Alchemist’s Workshop
The route most consistently described in walkthroughs uses a projectile and catapult in the Outskirts of Mammon. The workshop is near Castigator’s Keep.
- Get the Makeshift Projectile. Search the southern end of the Outskirts of Mammon, near a group of Grisha hunters. PowerPyx identifies this as the pickup location: PowerPyx’s Clockwork Shardstone guide.
- Return to the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon. Use the Makeshift Projectile with the catapult there. The guides say the shot opens the route to the Alchemist’s Workshop.
- Approach from Castigator’s Keep. From the Castigator’s Keep Beacon, go down to the lower area and follow the wooden platforms toward the southwest entrance, as described by PowerPyx.
- Search the workshop for the chest. The Clockwork Shardstone is reported as a chest pickup inside the Alchemist’s Workshop. The available walkthroughs differ on the precise interior route, so use the chest and workshop as landmarks rather than assuming every room-by-room detail matches.
What to expect inside the workshop
PowerPyx describes a route past a bookshelf and a false wall, followed by using a lever to reach an elevator and opening a chest in a lower room. AllThingsHow describes additional hidden areas and a chest in a final chamber. What the Clockwork Shardstone does
The Mortal Shell 2 Database reproduces the item description as: “Consume Resolve over time to hold your weapon before you with its chainsaw spinning at full speed”. It associates the Clockwork Shardstone with the Clockwork Scythe: Mortal Shell 2 Database: Clockwork Shardstone. In practical terms, the described effect is a sustained chainsaw spin that consumes Resolve over time.

- Alternative entrance: the illusory-wall bypass is reported by one guide, so it is less firmly established than the catapult route.
