Are GTA 6 reviews out yet? No. As checked on October 15, 2026, Metacritic reports that critic reviews are not available, so there is no responsible GTA 6 average to quote or predict. Rockstar lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
This guide shows how to locate legitimate reviews when they publish, read them without plot details, and compare scores without treating unlike scales, platforms or editions as if they were identical.
What is known about GTA 6 reviews right now?
The current answer is a status check, not a score: no published critic reviews are listed for Grand Theft Auto VI on Metacritic as of October 15, 2026. That means there is no verified critic average, review count or outlet score that can be reported as a live result. Any social post, video title or countdown graphic claiming to show the final aggregate before named outlets publish is unverified.

Rockstar explained the schedule change in its November 6, 2025 announcement: “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, as we work to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” That statement addresses development timing, not review scores or an embargo.

Where to find legitimate GTA 6 reviews when they publish
Start with named outlets, not a score screenshot
Use Metacritic as a directory and cross-check, not as proof that a particular article is spoiler-free. Its listing can help you identify outlets, dates and scores, but the original publication controls its warning labels, headline, media and spoiler policy. Open the outlet’s own review before reading a verdict or sharing a score.
- Search for the outlet’s named GTA 6 review and confirm that the page belongs to the publication, not an account reposting an excerpt.
- Check the byline, publication date, platform and edition near the headline. A review of a console build is not automatically representative of another platform or later patch.
- Look for a visible spoiler policy. “Spoiler-free,” “no story spoilers” or a clearly separated spoiler section is stronger evidence than a generic content warning.
- Read the outlet’s explanation of its score. A number without the publication’s scale, recommendation system or written reasoning cannot be compared fairly.
- Record the page’s status at a specific date and time. Aggregators add reviews, correct entries and occasionally change scores.
Use a second aggregator as a cross-check
When both are populated, compare Metacritic’s underlying outlet list with OpenCritic’s list. Differences can result from platform filters, delayed ingestion, regional editions, missing outlets or a review that was updated after a patch. Treat a disagreement as a prompt to inspect the original pages, not as evidence that one service is automatically correct.
How to read a GTA 6 review without spoilers
Use the page’s own warning system
Before scrolling, find the outlet’s spoiler statement and its boundary. Some reviewers place story details under a heading; others put the warning immediately before a paragraph or video. Stop at the first warning. Do not assume that a “spoiler-free” label covers every element on the page: comments, embedded posts, screenshots and a later update may follow different rules.
Reduce accidental exposure
- Prefer a text-only or reader-mode view when the browser offers one. It can remove autoplay video, recommendation widgets and social embeds.
- Turn off autoplay in the site or browser settings before opening a review with video.
- Do not open the comment section, quote-posts or linked discussion threads until you have finished the game or accepted the risk.
- Skip thumbnails and image galleries. A caption, character name or mission image can reveal more than the prose.
- Read the headline and URL carefully. A slug or headline that names a character, betrayal or mission outcome is already a spoiler even if the review text is marked safe.
- Keep browser notifications and social feeds closed while you search. A recommendation card can reveal a plot event outside the review you intended to read.
Choose the safest format for your situation
If you want only technical information, read the performance or accessibility section and stop before the verdict if the outlet places story discussion first. If you want a purchasing signal, jump to a clearly labeled score box only after confirming that the page does not place a spoiler in the summary or pull quote. When in doubt, save the URL and ask someone who has completed the game to extract non-plot information.
Build a comparable review log
A spreadsheet prevents a dramatic headline or an isolated number from dominating your judgment. Create one row per published review and preserve the original wording alongside any conversion.

| Field | What to enter | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Outlet | Publication name and review URL | Identifies the source and lets you recheck later changes. |
| Reviewer | Named author or review team | Separates an original review from an unattributed repost. |
| Publication date and time | Use the outlet’s displayed timestamp and your snapshot time | Shows which patch, build and embargo window the review reflects. |
| Platform | PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, and any specified model | Performance, image quality and bugs may differ by platform. |
| Edition and build | Standard, deluxe or other edition; review build if stated | Content and access timing can vary between editions. |
| Original score | Exactly as displayed, such as 8/10 or B+ | Preserves the outlet’s own system. |
| Score scale | 10-point, 5-point, percentage, letter or other scale | A bare “8” has no meaning without its denominator or grading rules. |
| Recommendation format | Buy/skip, badge, stars or no score | Badges are editorial judgments, not numerical measurements. |
| Spoiler policy | Spoiler-free, separated section, warning only or not stated | Lets you filter for safe reading independently of quality. |
| Patch or update note | Version number or “not stated” | Explains why two reviews may describe different performance. |
Write “not stated” where a page omits a field. Do not infer a platform, edition or score scale from a screenshot or a retailer listing.
How to normalize different critic score scales
Keep the original score beside the conversion
Normalization is a display aid, not a replacement for the outlet’s judgment. For a numeric score, divide the awarded points by the maximum and multiply by 100. For example, an illustrative 4/5 becomes 80%, and an illustrative 8/10 also becomes 80%. These examples explain the arithmetic; they are not GTA 6 scores.
| Original format | Illustrative conversion | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| 4/5 | (4 ÷ 5) × 100 = 80% | A five-point outlet may use half-stars or different thresholds. |
| 8/10 | (8 ÷ 10) × 100 = 80% | Some ten-point systems treat 7 as good and 8 as excellent; the labels are not universal. |
| 80% | 80% | Check whether the percentage is a weighted review score or a recommendation threshold. |
| A | Do not convert automatically | Letter-grade cutoffs differ by outlet and may not be linear. |
| Recommended/Not recommended | Keep as a separate category | A binary badge has no justified numerical equivalent. |
Do not average unlike signals
Keep badges, stars, letters and prose-only recommendations in separate columns. If you create a numeric chart, include only scores with a known denominator and disclose the rule used. Never turn “recommended” into 100% or “not recommended” into 0%; doing so invents precision the outlet did not provide.
Report the denominator and snapshot
Every aggregate should say how many reviews it includes and when you captured it. “The average is 87” is incomplete; “87/100 across 24 published numeric reviews, captured at 14:00 UTC on a stated date” is reproducible. If a platform filter is active, include it in the label. A combined score for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can hide a platform-specific problem.
Compare platforms, editions and patches before comparing scores
Platform differences
Rockstar’s announced launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A reviewer may receive one platform, a specific console model or a preview build. Record that information before grouping scores. Frame-rate behavior, image quality, loading and bugs can differ even when the missions and overall design are the same.

Edition and access differences
Deluxe content, early access and review copies can change what an outlet is evaluating. A score for a standard edition should not be silently combined with a score for an edition containing additional content. If the review does not identify the edition, mark it “not stated.”

Patch timing
Launch-day updates can address crashes, visual defects or progression blockers. A review written on an embargo build may not describe the same software buyers download later. Add the publication timestamp and any stated version to your log; when an outlet updates its review, retain the original snapshot and note the change rather than overwriting it.
How to verify a claimed embargo date
No official GTA 6 review-embargo time is established in the cited information. That makes exact-hour claims from anonymous sources, social posts and countdown graphics rumors. A trustworthy confirmation should come from a named outlet publishing at the time, or from Rockstar or its publisher issuing public guidance.
- Check Rockstar’s official news channels and the outlet’s own announcement.
- Confirm that the claimed time includes a time zone. “Midnight” is meaningless without a location.
- Look for multiple named outlets publishing simultaneously; one leaked screenshot is not corroboration.
- Distinguish a preview embargo, gameplay-capture restriction and full-review embargo. They can have different dates.
- Record the source and timestamp. Delete or correct the note if official information later changes.
How to interpret the aggregate once reviews arrive
Use the average as a signal
A high aggregate suggests broad approval, but it does not tell you whether the strengths match your priorities. Read at least one spoiler-free review that explains campaign pacing, driving or shooting feel, technical stability and accessibility features relevant to you. A numerical average cannot show whether criticism concerns a feature you consider essential.
Look for the spread, not only the mean
Record the highest and lowest comparable numeric scores and inspect the written reasons for outliers. A wide spread may indicate different platform performance, different expectations or a genuinely divisive design choice. Do not remove an outlier simply because it lowers the average; explain its context.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Separate launch reception from long-term updates
Later patches, online features or additional content can change an outlet’s assessment. Label a launch-day snapshot separately from an updated score. Do not present a later revision as if it were the original embargo consensus.
A spoiler-safe workflow you can follow on release week
- Set a cutoff. Decide whether you will read only text marked spoiler-free and whether you will avoid video, images and comments entirely.
- Find named pages. Use Metacritic or OpenCritic to discover outlets, then open each outlet’s original review.
- Check the warning first. Verify the spoiler policy, byline, date, platform and edition before reading the prose.
- Capture the row. Enter the original score, denominator, recommendation format, patch note and snapshot time in your log.
- Normalize carefully. Convert only numeric scales with known maxima; leave badges and letters separate.
- Cross-check. Compare the outlet list with the aggregator and investigate missing, duplicated or platform-specific entries.
- Read for fit. Choose reviews whose testing priorities match yours instead of relying on the highest number.
- Publish or share responsibly. State the review count, platforms, scale-conversion rule and snapshot date, and warn readers before linking to pages with unverified spoiler handling.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
Mistake: treating a placeholder page as a score
Symptom: A search result shows the game’s title and a release date, but no published critic entries. Fix: Open the page and verify that actual reviews and scores are listed. Record “not available” rather than filling the gap with a prediction.
Mistake: trusting a spoiler-free label without checking the page
Symptom: The headline or thumbnail reveals a character or mission outcome. Fix: Stop, close the page and use a text-only view or another outlet with a clear warning and separated spoiler section.
Mistake: comparing “8” and “four stars” directly
Symptom: A chart ranks scores without denominators. Fix: Add the maximum, preserve the original display and convert only when the scale is documented.
Mistake: mixing platforms and editions
Symptom: A technical complaint appears inconsistent across reviews. Fix: Split the table by platform, edition and build before drawing a conclusion.

Mistake: averaging recommendation badges
Symptom: “Buy,” “Recommended” and “B+” are turned into invented percentages. Fix: Keep each recommendation system in its own column and summarize the accompanying reasons.
Mistake: presenting a changing aggregate as permanent
Symptom: A headline omits the review count and date. Fix: Timestamp every snapshot and update the count when new reviews or revisions appear.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can GTA 6 have different scores on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S?
Yes. Outlets may review different builds, and technical performance can vary by platform. Keep platform-specific rows separate unless an outlet explicitly evaluates both.
Should I wait for every review before deciding whether to buy?
Not necessarily. A timestamped early set can show initial patterns, while a later snapshot may include more outlets and patches. Choose the snapshot that matches your tolerance for uncertainty and record when it was taken.
What if a review has no numerical score?
Use its written recommendation and analysis as a separate, non-numeric signal. Do not assign a number that the outlet did not publish.
