Radiance-specific card odds, rarity symbols, and collector-number rules have not been confirmed in the official material available as of October 13, 2026. Riot’s 2026 roadmap identifies Radiance as Riftbound’s fifth set, but it does not publish a Radiance checklist, set code, card-number range, pack collation, or pull rates. The detailed figures circulating in official collecting guidance apply to Origins, not Radiance.

You can still identify what is known, avoid mislabeling an Origins statistic as a Radiance guarantee, and prepare a reliable method for checking Radiance cards when its checklist or collecting guide is published.

What is officially confirmed about Radiance?

Riot’s latest 2026 roadmap names Radiance as Riftbound’s fifth set. The roadmap lists three milestones:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Roadmap item Date listed What the date means
Radiance previews begin September 21, 2026 The start of the preview period identified by Riot
Radiance Pre-Rift event October 16–18, 2026 A scheduled event window, not proof of a worldwide retail release
French release October 23, 2026 A French-language release milestone listed on the roadmap

Those are roadmap entries, not a verified universal launch schedule for every language and region. A local store may have a different release date, organized-play date, or product-delivery date. Check the date and language printed on the product or confirmed by the retailer rather than assuming the French date applies to an English or other-language release.

As of October 13, 2026, the official material cited for this guide does not establish the following Radiance details:

  • the total number of cards in the main set;
  • a Radiance set code or abbreviation;
  • the denominator and range used in collector numbers;
  • the rarity gems, frame treatments, or other visual rarity marks;
  • the number of cards in each booster slot;
  • the odds for Epics, alternate-art cards, overnumbers, signatures, or foils; or
  • whether Radiance uses the same collation and variant rules as Origins.

Until an official Radiance checklist or collecting guide answers those questions, any claimed Radiance number or percentage should be treated as unconfirmed. Origins provides a useful example of how Riftbound can label cards and fill packs, but it is not a substitute for Radiance documentation.

Why Origins figures cannot be used as Radiance odds

Origins is the only set for which the cited official collecting material gives both a visual rarity system and approximate booster rates. The set’s rules may be repeated by community posts because they are easy to quote, but the evidence identifies them specifically as Origins rules. A fifth-set label does not prove that Radiance retained the same number of slots, rarity distribution, or variant frequency.

For example, “about one Epic in four boosters” is an Origins estimate from Riot Games’ 2025 collecting article. It is not a Radiance prediction. Likewise, Origins overnumbers beginning at 299 does not establish the first Radiance overnumber, and the “a” suffix used for an Origins alternate-art card does not prove Radiance will use the same suffix.

When you see a Radiance listing, separate three questions:

  1. Is the card actually Radiance? Confirm the set identity from the product, card face, and official checklist.
  2. Is the stated rarity or variant rule documented? Look for a Radiance-specific official guide rather than copying an Origins description.
  3. What population does a rate describe? A rate may be per booster, per box, or conditional on opening a special subset. Those are not interchangeable.

How to identify a Radiance card once an official checklist is available

The safest approach is to treat identification as a chain of evidence. Do not classify a card from one visual detail alone, particularly when a set has foil and alternate-art versions.

1. Confirm the set and language

Start with the sealed product and the card’s printed set information. Record whether the item is Radiance, the language, and the region or edition stated on the packaging. A release date listed for one language does not prove that another language was released simultaneously. If a seller uses “Radiance” in a listing title but the card lacks a matching official set identifier, request a clear image of the card number and set mark before buying.

2. Locate the rarity indicator

Find the rarity mark in the position specified by the Radiance guide. Origins places a gem near the bottom of the card and combines it with a frame treatment. Radiance’s location, shape, color, or frame may differ; no official Radiance symbol has been established in the material available here. Do not infer a Radiance rarity from an Origins gem chart.

3. Read the complete collector number

Write down every character, including the number before and after the slash, any letter suffix, and any asterisk. The denominator tells you the checklist size only when the set’s official numbering scheme is known. A number such as 061/298 is meaningful for Origins because Riot documents that denominator; the same format on an unknown Radiance card cannot be interpreted until Radiance’s checklist confirms it.

4. Check for variant notation

Compare the number with the official variant key. In Origins, an “a” after the collector number identifies an alternate-art card, a number above 298 identifies an overnumbered card, and an asterisk identifies a signature overnumber. Those marks are useful examples of what to look for, but they are not confirmed Radiance conventions.

5. Separate foil treatment from rarity

A reflective finish is not automatically a higher rarity. Origins has a dedicated foil slot, and its official guide says the foil slot is usually common or uncommon but can produce a rare or Epic. Rare and Epic cards are foil by default in Origins, while all Origins cards have a foil version pullable in booster packs. Radiance may organize foil versions differently, so classify the card only after checking its set-specific guide.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

6. Record the source and opening context

For a collection spreadsheet, save the card name, exact collector number, language, variant, and the product or event from which it came. If you are evaluating an alleged pull-rate claim, also record whether it came from a booster, a box, a promotional product, or a special event pack. This prevents a box estimate from being mistaken for a per-pack probability.

Origins rarity symbols and frame treatments: the verified reference

Riot game designer Nik Davidson’s official Origins collecting article describes four functional rarity levels. Each level is indicated by a combination of frame treatment and a gem near the bottom of the card.

Origins rarity Gem shape Frame and finish described by Riot
Common Round Simple bronze frame
Uncommon Triangle Silver frame
Rare Square Gold foil frame
Epic Pentagon Minimal gold frame with foil

This table is an Origins reference, not a Radiance rarity key. It is useful when checking an Origins card or when learning the visual vocabulary that Riftbound has already used, but it should not be printed as a Radiance checklist.

Origins collector numbers and variant marks

Riot’s Origins preview article states that the main set contains 298 cards. The collecting article gives 061/298 as an example and explains that overnumbered cards begin at number 299.

Main-set cards

A standard Origins card falls within the main-set denominator, which is 298. The denominator is part of the identification data: it distinguishes the documented Origins checklist from an unspecified card count.

Alternate-art cards

An Origins alternate-art card carries an “a” suffix after its collector number. The suffix is part of the card’s printed identity; it is not a comment added by a seller.

Overnumbered cards

Origins overnumbered cards use numbers above 298, beginning at 299. Because they sit outside the main-set count, a card numbered above the denominator should not be forced into the ordinary checklist sequence.

Signature overnumbers

A signature overnumber is identified by an asterisk in the collector number. The asterisk is distinct from the alternate-art “a” suffix. Check both the number and the symbol when cataloging a card.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Riot also says that all Origins cards have a foil version that can be pulled from booster packs, while rares, Epics, and overnumbered cards are foil from the outset. These statements describe Origins printing and collation only.

Origins booster composition

The official Origins collecting guide lists the following contents for a booster:

Slot Origins quantity Qualification
Common 7 Seven common slots
Uncommon 3 Three uncommon slots
Rare-or-better 2 Two slots that can contain a rare or a higher rarity
Foil 1 Usually common or uncommon; may be rare or Epic
Token/rune 1 A separate token or rune slot
Informational insert 1 An insert in addition to the card slots

The two rare-or-better slots are important when interpreting an Epic pull. Riot says an Epic replaces a card in a rare slot, so a single Origins booster can contain two Epics if both rare-or-better slots produce one. The foil slot is separate from those rare slots, although it can also produce a rare or Epic.

Nothing in the cited official material confirms that Radiance uses this same six-part arrangement or the same insert. Do not use the Origins slot list to estimate how many Radiance cards a pack should contain.

Origins item Approximate rate stated by Riot Unit and limitation
Epic About 1 per 4 booster packs Approximate pack-level estimate; an Epic occupies a rare slot
Alternate-art card About 2 per box Approximate box-level estimate
Overnumbered card About 1 per 3 boxes Approximate box-level estimate
Signature overnumber About 1 in 10 overnumber cards Conditional rate among overnumber cards, not among all packs

These are approximate Origins rates attributed to Riot Games in 2025. They do not guarantee an outcome in an individual pack or box, and they cannot be relabeled as Radiance odds. The signature figure is especially easy to misread: “one in ten overnumber cards” describes the subset of overnumbers, not one signature in every ten boosters or boxes.

How the Epic estimate interacts with pack layout

An Origins booster has two rare-or-better slots. If one of those slots produces an Epic, that card replaces the rare-slot card that would otherwise appear there. The official explanation therefore allows two Epics in one booster, even though the approximate average is one Epic in four boosters. The average is a rate across packs, not a cap on the number of Epics in a pack.

How foil affects counting

Do not count every shiny card as an additional high-rarity hit. The dedicated foil slot normally contains a common or uncommon, but it can yield a rare or Epic. Rare and Epic cards are foil by default in Origins, so foil appearance and rarity are related by the printing rules but are not identical categories.

A practical checklist for opening and cataloging packs

  1. Photograph the sealed packaging. Capture the set name, language, product type, and any printed release information before opening.
  2. Keep cards from each pack together. If you are checking collation, do not mix cards from several packs before recording their slots.
  3. Log the exact collector number. Include the denominator, suffix, and asterisk instead of entering only the leading number.
  4. Record visual treatment separately. Note the gem, frame, and foil finish in different fields so a foil common is not entered as a rare.
  5. Mark the product level. Label observations as pack-level, box-level, event-level, or promotional. A box observation cannot validate a pack rate.
  6. Compare with the set-specific official checklist. For Radiance, wait for a Radiance document that defines the symbols and numbering before assigning a rarity or variant label.
  7. Keep uncertain entries provisional. If the official key is unavailable, record the card name and printed number but leave the rarity classification as unconfirmed rather than borrowing an Origins label.

Common mistakes and how to correct them

Calling Origins odds “Radiance odds”

Problem: A listing or social post quotes one Epic in four boosters and presents it as a Radiance pull rate.

Correction: Add the set name to every rate. The documented figure is approximately one Origins Epic per four booster packs, from Riot’s 2025 guide. A Radiance rate remains unconfirmed in the official material cited here.

Assuming every fifth set keeps the 298-card numbering

Problem: A collector expects a Radiance card to use a denominator of 298 or expects overnumbers to begin at 299.

Correction: Those values belong to Origins. Wait for Radiance’s own checklist and transcribe its denominator exactly.

Confusing an alternate-art suffix with a signature mark

Problem: An “a” and an asterisk are treated as interchangeable variant symbols.

Correction: In Origins, “a” identifies alternate art, while an asterisk identifies a signature overnumber. Confirm whether Radiance retains either convention before applying it.

Treating foil as a rarity tier

Problem: A foil common is cataloged as an Epic because it reflects light.

Correction: Read the rarity gem and frame under the set’s official rules. For Origins, foil is a finish and a pack slot; it does not by itself determine rarity.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Turning a roadmap date into a global release claim

Problem: The October 23, 2026 French date is used as the release date for every market.

Correction: Identify it as the French milestone listed on Riot’s roadmap. Verify the language and region relevant to the product you are buying.

What a complete Radiance collecting guide should contain

When Riot publishes a Radiance checklist or collecting guide, use it to fill these fields before relying on prices, pull-rate spreadsheets, or seller descriptions:

Field to verify Question to answer
Set identity Does the document identify Radiance as Set 5 and specify the language or edition?
Main-set size What denominator appears on ordinary collector numbers?
Rarity system Which gem shapes, colors, and frame treatments represent each rarity?
Variants How are alternate art, overnumbers, signatures, promos, or other variants marked?
Pack collation How many common, uncommon, rare-or-better, foil, token, or other slots are present?
Pull rates Is each rate measured per booster, per box, or within a special subset?
Regional scope Does the information apply to a particular language, print run, or release region?

Only after those fields are documented should you compare a Radiance card with an Origins card. A similar-looking gem or identical suffix may be intentional continuity, but visual similarity alone is not evidence of identical numbering or odds.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Bottom line for collectors today

Radiance is confirmed as Riftbound’s fifth set, with roadmap milestones beginning with previews on September 21, 2026, a Pre-Rift event on October 16–18, and a French release listed for October 23. The official material currently available does not confirm Radiance’s card count, set code, rarity symbols, collector-number range, pack layout, or pull rates.

For a verified reference, use Origins: its common, uncommon, rare, and Epic gems are round, triangular, square, and pentagonal; its main set has 298 cards; alternate art uses an “a” suffix; overnumbers begin above 298; signatures carry an asterisk; and its published booster estimates are approximately one Epic per four packs, two alternate arts per box, one overnumber per three boxes, and one signature in ten overnumber cards. Label every one of those figures as Origins and wait for Radiance-specific documentation before applying a number or rarity rule to Set 5.
