To find Pokémon you marked as favorites, open Main Menu → Pokémon from Map View, tap the magnifying-glass search button, and enter favorite. Pokémon GO will show the Pokémon whose profiles have the Favorite star turned on.
Find your favorited Pokémon
The favorite search term filters your Pokémon inventory for entries you marked with the star. It does not add or remove the favorite mark; it only locates Pokémon that already have it.
- Start in Map View. This is the main Pokémon GO screen showing your avatar and nearby map.
- Open the Main Menu. Tap the Main Menu button on the map screen.
- Open your Pokémon collection. Tap Pokémon to display your stored Pokémon.
- Open inventory search. Tap the magnifying-glass button at the top of the Pokémon list.
- Enter the filter. Type
favoritein the search field. Use this spelling, which is the term listed in the Pokémon GO Help Center’s inventory-search instructions.
The list should now contain the Pokémon marked as favorites. You can open any result to inspect its summary or manage it individually.

If a Pokémon is not appearing in the favorite results, it may not have been marked yet. You can add the mark from that Pokémon’s profile:

- Open the Pokémon list from Map View by tapping Main Menu → Pokémon.
- Select the Pokémon you want to protect.
- On its profile or summary screen, tap the star icon.
The star adds the Pokémon to your favorites. Run the favorite search again after returning to the inventory to locate it with the rest of your marked Pokémon.
What the Favorite star protects
Pokémon GO’s Help Center explains that a favorited Pokémon cannot be transferred while it remains on the favorites list. This is useful for Pokémon you want to keep, such as a high-value catch, a Pokémon with sentimental value, or one you are not ready to review for transfer.

The protection is tied to the star status. If you need to transfer a favorited Pokémon, first open its profile and remove it from favorites by tapping the star again. Only then can it be selected for transfer. The favorite mark does not otherwise change the Pokémon’s species, statistics, moves, or storage location.

If the search shows no results
A blank result is usually caused by the search being opened in the wrong list, a spelling mismatch, or there being no currently favorited Pokémon. Check the following in order:

- Confirm the screen: Start from Map View and open Main Menu → Pokémon, not the Pokédex, Shop, or another menu.
- Use the inventory search control: The magnifying glass must be at the top of the Pokémon collection list.
- Check the spelling: Enter
favoriteexactly. Do not substitute a different label or rely on a translated term unless the game displays one in your language. - Verify that at least one Pokémon is starred: Open a Pokémon’s profile and look for the Favorite star. If it is not active, tap it, return to the list, and search again.
- Clear other search conditions: If you previously used another search term or filter, remove it before entering
favorite. Multiple filters can narrow the list further. - Allow for interface changes: Button positions and labels can change after an app update. Look for the Pokémon collection entry and its magnifying-glass search control even if the surrounding layout differs.
Favorite Pokémon versus saved search shortcuts
Pokémon GO players sometimes use “search favorites” to mean saved search shortcuts: search terms they saved for quick reuse. That is different from a Pokémon marked with the profile star.
The procedure in this guide finds Pokémon marked with the Favorite star. It does not locate, create, edit, or restore saved search shortcuts. Community discussions have reported changes to where saved search terms appear, but the official Help Center material does not establish a current location for those shortcuts. If your question concerns saved searches rather than starred Pokémon, do not expect the favorite filter to show those shortcuts.

A safe workflow for reviewing favorites
1. Find the protected set
Run the favorite search from the Pokémon inventory so you are working only with the starred entries.

Open a result to check its summary, including the Pokémon you intend to keep or manage. The star remains visible on the profile.

3. Remove the mark only when you are certain
If a Pokémon should no longer be protected from transfer, tap the star to unfavorite it. Treat this as a deliberate review step because the transfer safeguard remains active until you remove the mark.
4. Search again after changes
Return to the inventory and rerun favorite to confirm that the list reflects the current star status. A Pokémon you unfavorited should no longer match the filter.

Important limitations
- The filter is not a sorting command: It narrows the inventory to favorited Pokémon; it does not reorder every Pokémon by importance.
- The filter does not set favorites: Marking still requires opening a Pokémon’s profile and tapping the star.
- Favorites are not a separate storage box: The Pokémon stay in your normal inventory and are identified by their star status.
- Labels may move after updates: The Help Center procedure uses the current documented route, but the exact placement of controls can change in a later Pokémon GO release.
