For now, search in the app that already carries the show: Paramount+ shows are in Paramount+, and HBO Max shows are in HBO Max. As of October 13, 2026, the services have not combined into one app. Skydance says its streaming products will unify over time, but has not announced when or explained what the eventual service, catalog, price, or account changes will look like.

That means you do not need a new search method or account migration to find a show today. Start with the service you already associate with it, then use that app’s search or browsing tools. Treat the two libraries as separate unless the companies announce a specific change.

Where to look for a show right now

Keep using the service where you currently expect the program to stream. The official transition FAQ says there have been no immediate changes to the apps or content libraries, so do not assume a Paramount+ title has moved to HBO Max—or the reverse. HBO Max’s transition FAQ says existing subscribers can continue using the services as before.

The simplest approach is to search the current app before changing a subscription, installing another app, or waiting for a merger-related update. If you are unsure which service you previously watched a program on, check both apps separately. The acquisition announcement does not include a title-by-title catalog map, and the official guidance does not say that the libraries have been combined.

Find a title in HBO Max

  1. Open HBO Max. Search for the exact show or movie title using the app’s Search feature. This is the most direct route when you already know what you want to watch.
  2. Browse if you do not know the exact title. HBO Max’s help guidance points viewers to Categories and Brand Spotlight rows. The menu names and layout can vary by device, so the location or presentation may not look identical everywhere.
  3. Search by brand. For HBO, Warner Bros., DC, Cartoon Network, Harry Potter, Adult Swim, Discovery, or other programming, try the brand name in Search or look for it in Categories or Brand Spotlight. HBO Max lists these among the programming available to browse, though availability of an individual title can vary. See HBO Max’s title-discovery guidance.
  4. Check the result in the app itself. A brand or category can help you discover programming, but it is not a promise that every title associated with that brand is available. Search for the specific show or movie when you need to confirm it.

If you are looking for a familiar HBO series or a Warner Bros. or DC title, the brand-based routes can narrow your browse. They do not change the basic rule: use HBO Max’s own Search, Categories, or Brand Spotlight to look for what is currently in its catalog. HBO Max’s help page describes those discovery options and names a selection of brands and programming; it does not provide a guarantee that every title from those brands is present.

Find a title in Paramount+

Open Paramount+ and search or browse there for the title you want. The transition announcements do not provide a title-by-title catalog map or say that Paramount+ titles have transferred to HBO Max. Until the companies announce specific changes, treat the two libraries as separate.

Paramount+’s specific menus or browsing labels are not documented in the cited transition announcements, so there is no reason to expect a particular button or category name. The dependable advice is to use Paramount+’s own search and browse controls, then check the official transition FAQs if you have heard that a title or app has changed. Do not rely on an unconfirmed claim that a show has moved simply because the companies announced plans for a future unified service.

A quick search routine

  1. Start with the show’s current home. Open Paramount+ for a Paramount+ show or HBO Max for an HBO Max show.
  2. Search the exact title when you know it. In HBO Max, title search is an officially documented discovery method. In Paramount+, use the service’s own search controls.
  3. Browse by brand or category when you need ideas. HBO Max documents Categories and Brand Spotlight as ways to discover content, with the layout varying by device.
  4. Check the other app only if needed. The services remain separate, but searching both is a practical way to check if you are unsure where a particular program currently appears. Do not interpret a result in one app as proof that the entire libraries have been merged.
  5. Confirm changes through official sources. Consult the transition FAQs before making a subscription decision based on a rumor or an assumed transfer.

What the combination has changed—and what it has not

On October 6, 2026, Skydance announced that its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery had closed. The announcement says the companies’ direct-to-consumer streaming products “will unify into a single service over time.” It does not specify a launch date, name for the future service, subscription price, plan tiers, account migration process, or which titles will be included. Read Skydance’s acquisition-completion announcement.

The announcement is a statement of intent about a future product, not a set of instructions for finding shows in a new app today. “Over time” does not tell subscribers when to expect a change. It also does not answer whether the finished product will use one interface, how each existing library will be represented, what plans will be offered, or how accounts and billing will work. Those consumer details remain unannounced in the cited release.

The current practical guidance is simpler: HBO Max’s transition FAQ says there are no immediate changes to the HBO Max or Paramount+ apps, libraries, subscriptions, pricing, or access. Existing subscribers can keep using each service as before. The discovery+ company update FAQ likewise says there are no immediate changes to discovery+ or Paramount+ and that current subscribers do not need to take action right now.

Associated Press reported that the services looked the same immediately after the acquisition closed and that no timeline had been given. Skydance CEO David Ellison said, “Our viewpoint is, HBO should stay HBO.” That is his stated view, not a finalized announcement of the future service’s name or design. Associated Press’s October 6 report covers the statement and the unresolved details.

That distinction matters when interpreting headlines about the acquisition. A completed corporate transaction and an announced plan to unify streaming products do not, by themselves, mean that subscribers should see a new app, a new catalog, or a changed bill immediately. The available official FAQs say the opposite for the present: no immediate changes to the named services, and no action required from existing subscribers right now.

If you subscribe to both services

Keep both apps available and use each one for its existing library. The official transition FAQ says you do not need to migrate an account or take immediate action. There is no announced date or procedure for changing accounts, billing, devices, or subscriptions, so avoid canceling or changing a plan based on an assumed merger timeline. Check the official transition FAQs for updates before acting; the companies say those pages will be updated as details become available.

In practical terms, having both subscriptions means continuing to open two services for now. The sources do not describe a sign-in merge, a single combined account, an account-transfer step, or a replacement app subscribers should install. They also do not announce any change to existing access or pricing at this stage. If you already pay for both, the available guidance is to keep using them as before rather than trying to combine accounts yourself.

If you subscribe to only one, the acquisition announcement does not say you must add the other service to keep access to your current library. The acquisition announcement does not set out a new subscription requirement. Whether future plans or access arrangements will change is not yet explained, so base decisions on your current service and its current terms rather than guessing at future packaging.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is also no published migration checklist to follow yet. The FAQs’ instruction that no immediate action is needed is not an instruction to transfer profiles, cancel one subscription, alter billing, or replace a device. If a specific process is announced later, the official transition pages are the appropriate place to look for updated directions.

A bundle is not necessarily a single app

Grouping subscriptions or billing does not automatically put every service’s shows in one interface. HBO Max’s current explanation of its Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max bundle says it provides access to three separate apps, each with its own library. That example describes the existing bundle only; it does not establish that a Paramount+/HBO Max bundle is available. The transition FAQ says no new bundle options have been announced. HBO Max explains how its current bundle works.

This is a useful distinction if you see the word “bundle” in a future announcement. Bundling may describe subscriptions or billing; it does not necessarily describe a shared catalog or single interface. The documented Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max arrangement gives access to three apps, with each keeping its own library. That example shows why readers should look for explicit statements about the app experience rather than assume that a combined payment means one place to search.

For Paramount+ and HBO Max specifically, the official transition FAQ has not announced a new bundle option. It therefore would be inaccurate to treat a combined subscription as already available or to recommend switching to one. The companies have said the streaming products will unify over time, but have not provided a consumer offer or detailed product plan in the cited material.

What to compare when more details arrive

There are not yet two announced combined-service plans to compare. If the companies publish specifics later, focus on the practical questions that determine where and how you can watch:

  • One app or separate apps: Does a new offer provide one interface, or does it group access to multiple apps? A bundle alone does not settle that question.
  • Catalog availability: Which titles will be included, and will any titles move between services? The current announcements do not provide a title-by-title map.
  • Price and plan tiers: What will the subscription cost, and what plans will be offered? No combined price or tier structure has been announced.
  • Accounts, billing, and devices: Will subscribers need to migrate or change how they sign in, pay, or use their devices? No account migration procedure or device instructions have been published in the cited release and FAQs.

These are open questions, not predictions. The acquisition-completion announcement says the services will unify over time; the transition FAQs say current apps, libraries, subscriptions, pricing, and access have no immediate changes. Until a source answers one of the comparison questions directly, do not treat a possible answer as settled.

What to verify before expecting a show to move

  • Which app has it now: Search the current service first rather than relying on the planned unification. For HBO Max, use title search or browse Categories and Brand Spotlight.
  • Whether the companies have announced a change: Consult the official HBO Max transition FAQ and discovery+ company update FAQ.
  • What is actually confirmed: The announcement establishes an intention to unify streaming products over time, not a launch date, final service name, price, catalog, or migration plan.
  • Whether a bundle means one interface: Check how many apps are involved; a bundled subscription can still leave libraries in separate apps.
  • Whether an individual title is available: A service’s brand list or a company-wide plan does not guarantee that every show associated with that brand is currently in the app. Search for the specific title.

The official FAQs say they will be updated as details become available, making them a better checkpoint than assumptions about what a merger usually involves. If you are deciding whether to keep, change, or cancel a subscription, wait for concrete information about the relevant price, catalog, and account terms rather than treating the announced future unification as an immediate change.

Until a specific transition is announced, the reliable way to find these shows is to search each service’s own app. The eventual unified service may change that, but its timing and details remain unannounced as of October 13, 2026.

Where should I look for a Paramount+ or HBO Max show now?

Search in the service that currently carries it: Paramount+ for Paramount+ shows and HBO Max for HBO Max shows. HBO Max documents title search, Categories, and Brand Spotlight as discovery options; menu layouts can vary by device.

Do I need to do anything if I subscribe to both?

No immediate action is required according to HBO Max’s transition FAQ. Subscribers can continue using both services as before; no account migration procedure has been announced.

Have the companies announced a combined price or which titles will be included?

No. The cited acquisition announcement and transition FAQs do not provide a combined price, plan tiers, launch date, or title-by-title catalog map.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does a bundle mean Paramount+ and HBO Max shows will be in one app?

Not necessarily. HBO Max’s documented Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max bundle provides access to three separate apps, each with its own library. No new Paramount+/HBO Max bundle option has been announced in the cited transition FAQ.

Has HBO’s future branding been finalized?

No finalized service name or design has been announced in the cited release. Associated Press reported Skydance CEO David Ellison’s view that “HBO should stay HBO,” but that statement is not a final product or branding commitment.

The Bottom Line

For now, use both services as separate apps: search Paramount+ for its current shows and HBO Max for its current shows. Existing subscribers do not need to migrate or take immediate action. Skydance has said the streaming products will unify over time, but the date, name, catalog, price, plan tiers, and account changes have not been announced as of October 13, 2026.
