To verify whether downloadable content (DLC) came with a game purchase, check the original transaction, the exact edition’s store listing, and your account’s DLC ownership and installation status. Then confirm that the content has been released and unlocked in the game. A label such as “Deluxe” or “Complete” is not an itemized guarantee, and the answer can differ by platform, storefront, account and region.
What you need to verify
DLC entitlement is not one question but several. Before troubleshooting, collect the details that identify the purchase:
- Exact game and edition: Record the full name shown on the receipt, such as a standard edition, deluxe edition, expansion bundle or season pass.
- Platform and storefront: Note whether the purchase was made through Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store or another store. Content rights are normally tied to that platform account.
- Account: Identify the account that completed the transaction. Another profile on the same console or computer may not own the entitlement.
- Purchase date and region: Keep the transaction date, order number and country or store region. Editions and add-ons can vary by region, and a receipt is the best record of what was sold at that time.
A game’s current library tile may show only the base game or a combined edition. That display does not necessarily reproduce the itemized contents of an earlier purchase. Likewise, an add-on can be owned without being installed, released or unlocked in the game.

Use these checks in order. They separate what was promised at purchase from what is currently installed or visible in the game.

1. Read the original receipt or transaction record
Open the purchase history for the account that paid. Save a screenshot or download the receipt before changing anything. Look for individually named add-ons, an edition name, a season pass, bonus items and any wording that limits the offer to a particular platform or region.
Record the order number, currency, purchase date and product identifier if one is shown. These details help support staff distinguish an entitlement from a similarly named product. If the receipt lists only the base game, do not assume that a similarly named deluxe or complete version was purchased. If it lists an edition or pass without itemized DLC, use the exact product page for that edition in the next step.
2. Inspect the store page for that exact version
Search for the precise edition and platform, not merely the game’s general page. Read the included-content section and distinguish between:

- cosmetic or in-game currency bonuses;
- a season pass that grants future or separately downloadable content;
- items that are available only in a higher edition; and
- content sold separately despite appearing in screenshots or marketing artwork.
Storefronts can offer several versions of one game, each with a different add-on arrangement. A bundle’s name is a shortcut for navigation, not proof of its contents. Compare the named items on the page with the receipt’s edition and purchase date. If the current page has changed, use saved receipt details and screenshots rather than assuming the present description exactly matches the historical offer.
3. Check account-level ownership
Open the platform’s DLC or add-on inventory and confirm that each expected item is associated with the purchasing account. This tells you what the account owns now; it does not by itself prove what the edition represented when you bought it.
Sign out of other profiles when checking. A shared console, family library or second computer can make the same game appear available without transferring every DLC license to every account. The account that bought the game or pass is the one whose transaction history and entitlement list should be treated as authoritative.
4. Check installation and download status
An owned add-on may be available to download separately. Verify that it is installed on the same platform version as the base game. On consoles, check the game’s add-on management screen; on a computer, check the game’s DLC properties or library page.
Do not use an installed file as proof that the item was included in the purchase: a file can be installed through another license, a trial or a shared device. Conversely, an absent file does not prove that the entitlement is missing. Ownership and installation are separate checks.
5. Check release timing
If the purchase was a season pass or another future-content package, read its named contents and release schedule. A pass can be owned before an expansion is released. After release, the expansion may still require a manual download.
Compare the date shown for each item with the date you are checking. A pass can cover several releases made at different times, so the first available item is not necessarily the whole package. Keep the pass receipt even when a future item is not yet listed as downloadable.
6. Check the in-game unlock condition
Some content appears only after a story checkpoint, in a specified location, or through a particular menu. An installed add-on can therefore be working even when it is not visible in a new save or at the opening screen.

Read the game’s own instructions for where the item should appear. A character, quest, map area, equipment set or bonus may be delivered by an in-game vendor or menu rather than added to the title screen. Confirming the required condition prevents an unnecessary repurchase.
How to check DLC on Steam
Use the Library DLC view
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Select the game concerned.
- Open the game’s Properties.
- Select DLC. Steam’s library page may also expose a DLC section directly.
- Review the listed items and their installation status. Owned content that is not installed can normally be selected for download from this area.
This check reports current ownership and installation for the Steam account. Pair it with the original receipt and the exact purchase page when you need to establish what an edition included at the time of sale.
If the DLC tab is empty, first verify that you selected the correct game entry and are signed into the account that paid. Then search the transaction history for the product name. A base-game license and a separate add-on can appear as different line items even when they were bought in one checkout.
Understand Steam bundle types
Steam uses more than one bundle structure:

If an item appears in the Steam DLC view, it is owned by the account; if it is absent, check whether the receipt used a different Steam account or a different product.
When comparing two Steam purchases, note whether one was a complete-the-set transaction and the other was a fixed package. The price difference does not identify a particular expansion, and the same bundle page may display a different payable amount for an account that already owns some components.
How to check DLC in the Epic Games Store
Inspect the edition’s Add-Ons section
Epic’s store pages can list add-ons under the heading below the game title. Open the page for the specific version you purchased and read that section rather than relying on the game’s general listing.
Check the version selector or edition name carefully. A standard product page can sit beside a deluxe or other edition with a different list of add-ons. Copy the names of the included items into your notes so you can compare them one by one with the receipt and with what the game shows after launch.
Use Explore Addons in the launcher
- Open the Epic Games Launcher and select Library.
- Find the game.
- Open the game’s three-dot menu.
- Select Explore Addons when that option is available.
- Compare the add-ons shown there with the receipt and the edition’s store description.
Epic distinguishes an edition from a standalone DLC product. An edition generally combines the base game with additional content, and buying it can replace or update the library entry instead of creating a second game tile. Therefore, seeing one library entry does not prove that the extra content is missing.

When bonus content is not visible
For special editions, the publisher controls how included bonus content is delivered. Check the edition description, the account that made the purchase, and the game’s own menus or unlock instructions. If Epic shows the edition as purchased but a promised bonus is absent, retain the receipt and contact the publisher or Epic support with the exact edition and transaction details.
Describe the missing item by its published name rather than saying only “my deluxe content is gone.” Include the account identifier, order number, platform, region and screenshots of the edition description. That evidence lets support determine whether the issue is an entitlement problem or an in-game delivery condition.
How to check DLC on PlayStation
Start with transaction history
Sign in to the PlayStation account that made the purchase and open its transaction history. Confirm the exact product, date and account before checking the console. A different user profile on the same PlayStation does not automatically own the add-on.

Find add-ons on PS5
- Open Game Library.
- Select Your Collection.
- Choose the base game.
- Open its Add-Ons section.
- Check whether the purchased add-on is listed and whether it is downloaded.
If an add-on is listed as owned but not downloaded, start its download from the add-on screen. Make sure the installed base game and the add-on belong to compatible platform versions and regions where that distinction applies.

Check the console’s displayed product carefully when a game has separate versions for different generations or editions. A license can be valid for one platform version while the installed version is another, so the receipt, add-on listing and installed game should all refer to compatible products.
Check where the content appears in the game
PlayStation notes that some content does not appear immediately. It may unlock after a checkpoint or become available only at a particular in-game location. Consult the game’s own instructions after confirming ownership and installation.
Verify a season pass
Open the pass listing on PlayStation Store or the publisher’s site and record the named contents and release dates. A season pass is an entitlement to its specified content, not necessarily a single download containing everything on day one. When each listed item releases, check whether it must be downloaded manually. If an add-on still displays a price, compare that listing with the pass receipt and verify that you are signed into the purchasing account before attempting another purchase.
Do not buy a second copy merely because the released add-on page has a price. First establish whether the pass names that item, whether the transaction completed, and whether the console is using the purchasing account. If those checks confirm ownership, retain the evidence and contact support.

These states explain many apparent contradictions. For example, a season pass can be owned while its next expansion is unreleased, or an installed item can remain hidden until a story checkpoint. How to compare two editions or purchases
When deciding whether two transactions contain the same DLC, compare the following fields side by side rather than comparing marketing names:

If one row cannot be verified, do not treat the editions as equivalent. A “complete” label may cover a different set of items on another platform, in another region or after a publisher changes a bundle.
Also distinguish a named expansion from a general bonus. A season pass, cosmetic pack, currency grant and story expansion can all be described as “extra content,” but they do not provide the same entitlement. Write down each item exactly as listed instead of grouping everything under “DLC.”

The receipt and store page disagree
Preserve the receipt, order number, purchase date and a screenshot of the edition page. Avoid buying the item again while the entitlement is being investigated. Contact the platform support channel responsible for the transaction; if the platform confirms the edition but the bonus is controlled by the publisher, contact the publisher with the same evidence.
The content is owned but not installed
Use the platform’s DLC or add-on management screen to start the download. Confirm that the device has storage space, the base game is installed on the same account and the game is fully updated.

The content is installed but not available
Check whether the item has actually been released and whether the game requires a checkpoint, location, character, menu or other unlock condition. Restart the game after installation if the platform or publisher instructs you to do so.
The add-on shows a price again
Verify the purchasing account, transaction record, exact edition and region. A price on a store page can indicate that the current account does not own that product, that the pass did not include that particular item, or that you are viewing an incompatible platform version. Do not assume the price display alone cancels an entitlement documented by the receipt.

The game appears only once in the library
That can be normal. Some editions replace or update the existing library entry instead of creating a separate entry. Inspect the edition’s add-ons and the game’s DLC management screen before concluding that the purchase contains only the base game.
The content belongs to another account
Return to the transaction history and identify exactly which account paid. Being able to launch the base game from a shared device does not establish that the same profile owns every add-on. Check the purchasing account’s library and add-on list, then follow the platform’s supported sharing or account rules rather than transferring licenses informally.
The region or platform is different
Compare the store region and platform version recorded on the receipt with the installed game. Region-specific editions and incompatible platform versions can prevent an add-on from appearing even when the product names look alike. Preserve those details for support instead of purchasing a second version immediately.
