When a clue or quest item seems to disappear in Disney Dreamlight Valley, first read the exact objective in your quest log, confirm that the previous dialogue or action is complete, and then use the tool and interaction that objective requires. Search the named location—including corners, caves, rooms, and surfaces—before treating the item as missing. If the object is still absent, unreachable, or will not register, check Gameloft’s current Known Quest Issues entry for that specific quest and follow its listed workaround. Unresolved cases should go through Gameloft’s support contact route with your quest, objective, platform, and troubleshooting steps.
The fastest way to recover a missing quest clue
- Open the quest log. Record the exact quest title and the complete current objective, not just the general quest name.
- Verify the prerequisite. Finish the preceding conversation, interaction, numbered step, or action shown by the quest. Some objects are deliberately non-interactable until that point.
- Match the required action. Digging, fishing, breaking an obstacle, watering, photographing, and ordinary interaction are different requirements. Use the tool named or implied by the objective.
- Search the named place methodically. Check the specific corner, room, cave, obstacle, and surface described by the objective. Move the camera to inspect behind and above objects.
- Test the interaction once the target is found. Stand close enough, select the correct Royal Tool when required, and interact with the exact quest object rather than a similar-looking prop.
- Read the current Known Quest Issues entry. Look for the exact quest and objective. Follow its current step number, location note, workaround, or status; do not substitute an old tip from a different quest.
- Contact official support if no entry resolves it. Include the quest name, objective, platform, what you see, and the steps already attempted.
This order separates a gated objective from a genuine spawn, placement, or recognition problem without wasting time on unrelated areas of the valley.
Read the objective as a set of conditions
Capture the exact quest wording
Quest text often identifies more than the item’s name. It can specify a location, a tool, an action, or an order. Write down the wording currently displayed in the quest log before leaving the screen. If the game has advanced to a new numbered step, use that new step rather than instructions remembered from an earlier stage.
A clue bag is an example of why the step matters. Gameloft’s Known Quest Issues guidance describes a bag that becomes interactable only at a later numbered step. Searching for it early can make a working quest look broken; returning after the required step is active is the intended fix for that situation.

Complete the preceding conversation or action
Do not assume that speaking to a character, entering an area, or collecting a related object automatically completes the prerequisite. Check that the quest log has changed to the next objective. If it has not, repeat the exact interaction named by the current step instead of moving on to the next location.
Distinguish a clue from a similar prop
Quest areas contain decorative objects that can resemble the target. The Known Quest Issues list includes cases involving mistaken targets and interactions that do not count. If an action produces no quest update, verify that you selected the object identified by the objective, not merely something with a similar appearance.
Use the tool and interaction the quest expects
Digging
When an objective calls for something to be dug up, equip the Shovel and use it at the marked or described ground location. Gameloft specifically directs players to use a Shovel to dig up Jungle Vines in one official quest instruction. Hitting the area with a different tool, or interacting with a nearby plant instead of the dig spot, will not satisfy that objective.

A fishing objective requires the fishing interaction at the specified water location. Confirm that the quest is asking for a fish or fishing spot before trying to collect a visible object on shore. A successful catch should advance the relevant objective; if it does not, check whether the quest names a particular body of water or sequence.

Breaking an obstacle
Some targets are behind an obstacle that must be cleared with the appropriate Royal Tool. Break the obstacle identified by the quest, not a similar barrier nearby. If the target remains unreachable after the obstacle is removed, stop repeating the action and consult the exact Known Quest Issues entry.
Watering or interacting
Watering a plant and pressing the normal interact button on an object are separate actions. Use the method stated in the quest text. An object that can be picked up in ordinary play may require watering, talking, or another quest-specific interaction before it counts.
Photographing
Photo objectives require the Camera Royal Tool and the correct target in the camera frame. A normal interaction with the symbol or painting will not replace the photo requirement. The Drawings quest is the clearest official example, but its camera method should not be applied to every missing clue automatically.
Search the named location instead of the whole map
Inspect corners and boundaries
Once the objective identifies an area, sweep its edges first. Gameloft’s Known Quest Issues page directs players looking for Flynn’s posters to the lower-left corner of the Bind. That is a quest-specific placement instruction, not a general rule that every poster appears there.

Check caves, rooms, and the space behind obstacles
Enter every cave or room named by the objective and inspect the floor, walls, shelves, and surfaces. A target may sit behind the entrance view or be obscured by an object. Rotate the camera and move your character rather than relying on the first angle from which you enter.
Search surfaces at different camera heights
Hidden symbols and paintings can be placed on different surfaces. Look low, level with the character, and above eye level. If the object is visible only from an unusual angle, reposition the camera before concluding that it has not spawned.
Use the location wording literally
If the objective names a particular cave, room, corner, or obstacle, remain within that named area while searching. A generic sweep of every biome adds time and can lead you away from a target that is correctly placed but easy to overlook.

Search by the exact quest and symptom
Gameloft’s official list covers missing, misplaced, unreachable, and unrecognized objects. Find the entry that matches both your quest and what you see. “I cannot find it,” “I can see it but cannot collect it,” and “the action completed but progress did not register” can have different instructions.

Follow the current status
An entry may say that an issue is fixed, still being investigated, or has a specific workaround. Treat those labels as time-sensitive because game updates can change quest behavior. If the entry says a fix is in place and instructs you to restart the game for it to take effect, restart as directed. Do not assume that an old workaround remains valid after an update.
Respect quest-specific instructions
A workaround for one quest is not a universal method. A step-gated clue bag, Flynn’s posters in the lower-left corner of the Bind, and a target that spawned out of reach are separate cases. Apply only the instruction attached to your quest’s entry.
Choose the right troubleshooting branch
| What you see | What to check first | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| The item is nowhere obvious | Exact objective, prerequisite step, named location, corners, surfaces, and nearby obstacles | Search the stated area with the required tool, then read the matching Known Quest Issues entry. |
| The object is visible but cannot be collected | Whether the objective has reached the required step and whether a particular Royal Tool or interaction is required | Advance the prerequisite if needed; otherwise follow the current quest-specific workaround. |
| The item spawned out of reach or did not spawn | The exact quest entry and its current status | Use only the listed workaround. If none applies, contact official support. |
| The action happens but progress does not register | Correct target, correct order, and the required interaction rather than a similar prop | Repeat only the documented action; then check Known Quest Issues for recognition or order-sensitive problems. |
| No applicable fix is listed | Whether you have recorded the quest, objective, platform, and attempts | Send those details through Gameloft’s support contact route. Do not rely on an unofficial promise of item replacement or response time. |
How to complete the hidden “The Drawings” quest
Understand what the quest contains
Gameloft describes The Drawings as a hidden quest in The Lion King Realm. It involves seven Simba paintings or symbols placed on different surfaces. The symbols are intentionally hidden, so a normal straight-on view may not reveal every one.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Use the Camera Royal Tool
- Enter The Lion King Realm and make sure The Drawings is the active objective in the quest log.
- Search the surfaces in the area while changing your camera angle. Check low and high surfaces and move around objects that block the view.
- Equip the Camera Royal Tool when a Simba painting or symbol is in frame.
- Take a photograph of each of the seven symbols. Confirm that the quest objective advances after each accepted photo.
- If a symbol is difficult to frame, move closer and adjust the camera rather than photographing a similar decoration.
Gameloft’s guidance says, “We recommend taking selfies as close as possible to each of them.” The close-selfie advice applies to The Drawings’ hidden-photo objectives; it is not a general instruction to photograph every quest item in the game.
When a symbol appears to be absent
First change the camera angle and inspect another surface in the named area. If you have photographed visible symbols but the count does not advance, verify that each picture used the Camera Royal Tool and that the frame contained the intended Simba symbol. If the target is still missing or unreachable, look up The Drawings in the current Known Quest Issues list before trying unrelated tools.
When the correct action still does not register
Check the target and order
Recognition failures can result from acting on the wrong object or performing steps out of order. Return to the quest log, compare the active wording with the object you selected, and perform the required interaction in the displayed sequence. Do not assume that repeating an action on a nearby prop will repair the objective.
Check for a step gate
If the target is present but the interaction prompt is missing, confirm that the quest has reached the numbered step that enables it. The official clue-bag example shows that a visible object can remain non-interactable until the correct step is active.
Check for a placement or reachability bug
If the objective is active, the tool is correct, and the target is still outside the playable area or missing entirely, treat it as a possible known issue rather than repeatedly exhausting tools. The official list includes misplaced and unreachable objects as well as cases under investigation.
Contact Gameloft support with useful evidence
Use the contact route in Gameloft’s Technical Support and Help Center when the current Known Quest Issues entry does not resolve the problem. The support index organizes Disney Dreamlight Valley help, including a Cozy Edition category, but it does not promise a particular response time or outcome.
Include these details
- The exact quest title.
- The complete current objective and, if shown, its numbered step.
- Your platform and edition information.
- The location where the target should appear.
- The tool or interaction you used.
- What happened: absent, unreachable, non-interactable, or completed without progress.
- The Known Quest Issues instruction you checked and the steps you already tried.
Keep the report factual and concise. Avoid claiming that an item was permanently deleted unless the game actually shows that behavior; describe what is visible and what the quest log reports. Support can then distinguish a prerequisite misunderstanding from a reproducible quest issue.
Quick Recap
What not to do
- Do not search every biome first. Start with the location named by the active objective.
- Do not swap tools at random. Digging, fishing, breaking, watering, photographing, and ordinary interaction are not interchangeable.
- Do not treat a similar prop as the target. Recognition problems can come from selecting the wrong object.
- Do not use an old workaround as a guarantee. Quest fixes and placements can change with updates; use the current official entry.
- Do not promise yourself a support outcome. The support index provides a contact path, not a guaranteed response time, replacement item, or immediate correction.
A compact checklist for future quests
- Read the full objective and note the quest name.
- Confirm the previous dialogue or action is complete.
- Check whether the target is gated behind a later numbered step.
- Go to the named location and inspect corners, caves, rooms, obstacles, and surfaces.
- Use the exact Royal Tool or interaction required.
- Verify that the object is the quest target, not a similar decoration.
- Look up the quest in Gameloft’s Known Quest Issues list.
- Apply the listed current workaround or restart only when the entry instructs you to do so.
- Contact official support with the quest, objective, platform, symptoms, and attempted steps if no applicable fix exists.
